Definitions
- the present invention relates to a lighting device, a display device, and a television receiver.
- a backlight device is separately required as a lighting device.
- This backlight device is well known to be installed on the back side of the liquid crystal panel (opposite the display surface), and is housed in the chassis as a lamp having an opening on the liquid crystal panel side surface.
- a large number of light sources for example, cold cathode fluorescent lamps
- an optical member such as a diffusion plate
- the linear light when the light source emits linear light, the linear light is converted into planar light by an optical member, thereby uniformizing the in-plane luminance of the illumination light. It is set as the structure which aims. However, when the conversion into the planar light is not sufficiently performed, a linear lamp image based on the arrangement of the light sources is generated, and the display quality of the liquid crystal display device is deteriorated.
- a backlight device In order to suppress the occurrence of a lamp image in the backlight device, for example, it is desirable to increase the number of light sources arranged to reduce the distance between adjacent light sources, or to increase the diffusivity of the diffusion plate. .
- increasing the number of light sources increases the cost of the backlight device and increases the power consumption.
- a backlight device disclosed in Patent Document 1 below is known as a backlight device that suppresses generation of a lamp image while suppressing power consumption.
- the backlight device described in Patent Document 1 includes a diffusion plate arranged in the light projecting direction of a plurality of light sources, and a light control dot pattern is printed on the diffusion plate.
- the dot diameter is large immediately above the light source, and the dot diameter decreases as the distance from the light source increases. According to such a configuration, it is supposed that light with uniform luminance can be emitted without increasing the power consumption of the light source by efficiently using the light emitted from the light source.
- the present invention has been made based on the above circumstances, and an object thereof is to provide an illumination device that suppresses generation of a lamp image while realizing reduction in cost and reduction in power consumption. Moreover, an object of this invention is to provide the display apparatus provided with such an illuminating device, and also the television receiver provided with such a display apparatus.
- an illumination device of the present invention includes a plurality of linear light sources arranged in parallel, a chassis that houses the linear light sources and has an opening for emitting the light from the linear light sources. And an optical member disposed so as to face the linear light source and cover the opening, and the linear light source has a light source high-density region whose arrangement interval is relatively dense, and an array A light source low density region having a relatively sparse spacing, and at least a portion of the optical member that overlaps the light source low density region receives light from the linear light source. A light reflecting portion for reflecting is formed.
- the linear light sources in a form having a light source high-density region and a light source low-density region, the number of linear light sources is larger than when forming a light source high-density region over the entire chassis.
- cost reduction and power saving can be realized.
- the distance between the linear light sources adjacent to each other in the light source low density region is relatively large. It is easy to reach the optical member without mixing. As a result, the luminance of the portion overlapping the linear light source in the optical member is locally increased, and a lamp image is likely to be generated.
- a light reflecting portion that reflects light from the linear light source is formed at least in a portion overlapping the light source low density region of the optical member.
- the said light reflection part shall be formed in the position which planarly overlaps with the said linear light source among the said optical members. According to such a configuration, the light emitted from each linear light source can surely reach the light reflecting portion and can be reflected while being mixed with each other toward the chassis by the light reflecting portion. Can be further suppressed.
- the length of the light reflecting portion in plan view can be larger than the length of the linear light source in plan view. According to such a configuration, the light emitted from the linear light source can be reliably reflected by the light reflecting portion, so that the generation of the lamp image can be further suppressed.
- the light reflecting portion may be formed such that the light reflectance of the optical member is maximized at a portion of the optical member that overlaps the light source low density region. According to such a configuration, with respect to the light source low density region where the lamp image is most likely to occur, the light from the linear light source can be reflected most at the portion of the optical member that overlaps the light source low density region. Therefore, the light from each linear light source can be easily mixed and the generation of the lamp image can be suitably suppressed.
- the said light reflection part shall be formed in the surface facing the said linear light source among the said optical members. According to such a configuration, light reaching the optical member from the linear light source can be reliably reflected, so that it is possible to suppress the generation of a lamp image.
- the high-density light source region may be formed at the center of the chassis. According to such a structure, it becomes possible to improve the brightness
- the light source low density region may be formed in an outer portion located outside the central portion of the chassis. According to such a configuration, the brightness of the outer portion may be lower than the central portion of the irradiation surface of the lighting device, but human eyes usually pay attention to the central portion of the display screen. Therefore, the number of linear light sources can be reduced with little effect on the visibility, and cost reduction and power saving can be realized.
- the area of the light source high density region may be smaller than the area of the light source low density region.
- the chassis may have a rectangular shape in plan view, and the linear light source may be arranged such that the longitudinal direction thereof coincides with the long side direction of the chassis. According to such a configuration, it is possible to reduce the number of linear light sources as compared with the case where the short side direction of the chassis and the longitudinal direction of the linear light source are matched. Therefore, for example, the number of control units that control turning on / off of the linear light source can be reduced, so that the cost can be reduced.
- the linear light source may be a cold cathode tube. By doing so, it is possible to extend the life and to easily perform light control.
- the linear light source may be a hot cathode tube. In this way, it is possible to increase the brightness.
- the linear light source may be formed by arranging point light sources on a longitudinal substrate. In this way, it is possible to change the arrangement interval of the linear light sources by preparing a plurality of types of substrates having different arrangement densities of the point light sources or changing the arrangement interval of the substrates.
- a diffuser lens capable of diffusing light from the point light sources may be disposed at least on the light emission side of the point light sources belonging to the light source low density region. .
- light emitted from the point light source is first diffused by the diffusion lens.
- the directivity is relaxed.
- the lights of the adjacent point light sources are mixed with each other, and the generation of the lamp image can be further suppressed.
- the diffuser lens may have a circular shape in plan view. In this case, the light from the point light source is diffused almost uniformly at 360 degrees by the diffusing lens, so that the generation of the lamp image can be further suppressed.
- the light incident surface that faces the point light source and receives light from the point light source is incident in a shape that is recessed toward the optical member at a position overlapping the point light source.
- Side recesses are formed, and the light incident side recesses can be configured such that the side walls thereof are inclined so as to face the point light sources. According to such a configuration, most of the light emitted from the point light source enters the light incident side recess of the diffusing lens.
- the concave portion on the light incident side has a configuration in which the side wall is inclined so as to face the point light source.
- the light that has entered the concave portion on the light incident side reaches the side wall, and can be refracted into the diffusion lens through the side wall at a wide angle (that is, from the inside to the outside of the diffusion lens).
- a wide angle that is, from the inside to the outside of the diffusion lens.
- the light that faces the optical member and emits light incident from the point light source has a light that is recessed toward the point light source at a position overlapping the point light source.
- the output side recessed part can be formed.
- the amount of light reaching from the point light source is likely to be larger than other regions, and the luminance tends to be locally increased. Therefore, by forming a light exit side recess at a position overlapping the point light source on the light exit surface, the light exit side recess refracts the light from the point light source to a wide angle or from the point light source. A part of the light can be reflected. Thereby, it can suppress that the brightness
- a surface roughening process may be performed on at least the light incident surface of the diffusing lens. In this way, by performing a surface roughening process such as a graining process on the diffusing lens, it becomes possible to perform even better light diffusion.
- the point light source may be an LED. In this way, it is possible to extend the life and reduce power consumption.
- the optical member may be a light diffusing member that diffuses light from the linear light source.
- a light diffusing member that diffuses light from the linear light source.
- a display device of the present invention includes the above-described lighting device and a display panel that performs display using light from the lighting device. According to such a display device, since it is possible to suppress the generation of the lamp image while reducing the cost in the lighting device, it is possible to provide a good display in which the generation of the lamp image is suppressed while reducing the cost. It can be realized.
- a liquid crystal panel can be exemplified as the display panel.
- Such a display device can be applied as a liquid crystal display device to various uses such as a display of a television or a personal computer, and is particularly suitable for a large screen.
- the television receiver of this invention is provided with the said display apparatus. According to such a television receiver, it is possible to provide a device with excellent visibility.

- the length of the light reflecting portion 50 in plan view is made longer than the length of the cold cathode tube 17 (17a) in plan view. Therefore, since the light emitted from the cold cathode tube 17 (17a) can be reliably reflected by the light reflecting portion 50, the generation of the lamp image can be further suppressed.
- the light reflecting portion 50 is formed so that the light reflectance of the diffusion plate 15a is maximized at a portion of the diffusion plate 15a that overlaps the light source low density region LL.
- most of the light from the cold cathode tubes 17 (17a) can be reflected at a portion of the diffusion plate 15a that overlaps the light source low density region LL where a lamp image is likely to be generated.
- the light from 17a) can be easily mixed and the generation of the lamp image can be suitably suppressed.
- the light reflecting portion 50 is formed on the surface of the diffusion plate 15a facing the cold cathode tube 17 (17a). Therefore, light reaching the diffusion plate 15a from the cold cathode tube 17 (17a) can be reliably reflected, and generation of a lamp image can be reliably suppressed.
- the light reflecting portion 50 is formed by performing a printing process on the diffusion plate 15a. Therefore, it is possible to appropriately design the pattern of the light reflecting portion 50, and it is possible to easily form the pattern of the light reflecting portion 50 as designed.
- the light source high density region LH is formed in the central portion of the chassis 14.
- luminance of the center part of the irradiation surface of the said backlight apparatus 12 is improved.
- the central portion of the display screen is increased in luminance. Since the human eye usually pays attention to the central portion of the display screen, it is possible to obtain good visibility by increasing the luminance of the central portion of the display screen.
- the light source low density region LL is formed on the outer side located outside the central part of the chassis 14. According to such a configuration, the luminance of the outer portion may be lower than that of the central portion of the irradiation surface of the backlight device 12, but the human eye usually pays attention to the central portion of the display screen. Therefore, the number of cold cathode tubes 17 can be reduced with little effect on visibility, and cost reduction and power saving can be realized.
- the area of the light source high density region LH is smaller than the area of the light source low density region LL.
- the number of cold cathode tubes 17 can be further reduced.
- the chassis 14 has a rectangular shape in plan view, and the cold cathode tubes 17 are arranged such that the longitudinal direction thereof coincides with the long side direction of the chassis 14.
- the number of cold cathode tubes 17 can be reduced as compared with the case where the short side direction of the chassis 14 and the longitudinal direction of the cold cathode tubes 17 are matched. Therefore, for example, the number of control units that control the lighting / extinguishing of the cold cathode tubes 17 can be reduced, so that the cost can be reduced.
- the diffusion plate 15a is a light diffusion member that diffuses light from the cold cathode tube 17.
- the light diffuser can be diffused by the light diffusing member in addition to controlling the light transmittance for each region in the diffusing plate 15a by the light reflectance distribution of the diffusing plate 15a. In this case, it is possible to further suppress the generation of the lamp image.

Abstract
