Definitions
- the present invention relates to a negative electrode material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, a method for producing a negative electrode material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, and a battery pack.
- lithium ion secondary batteries that are charged and discharged by moving lithium ions between a negative electrode and a positive electrode have been actively researched and developed as high energy density batteries.
- titanium oxide enables stable rapid charge / discharge from the viewpoint of potential characteristics.
- a negative electrode containing titanium oxide as an active material has a longer life than conventional carbon materials.
- the conventional titanium oxide has a higher potential with respect to metallic lithium and a lower capacity density per weight than a general carbon-based negative electrode. For this reason, there is a problem that the energy density important as a secondary battery is low.
- the electrode potential of titanium oxide is due to the oxidation-reduction reaction between Ti 3+ and Ti 4+ when lithium is electrochemically inserted and desorbed.
- the electrode potential is electrochemically restricted, and therefore it is substantially difficult to lower the electrode potential for the purpose of improving the energy density. Therefore, maximizing the theoretical electrode capacity of titanium oxide has an important role in achieving an improvement in energy density.
- titanium oxide is poor in electronic conductivity in a state where lithium ions are not inserted. Therefore, when used as an active material, it is necessary to use a conductive additive together.
- Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2007-234358 discloses a technique for filling an active material into the pores of porous particles having micropores.
- the contact area between the active material and the conductive porous particles is increased, and the permeability of the electrolytic solution is also improved.
- the active material filled in the pores of the porous particles is bulky (lumped), the movement distance of lithium ions from the surface to the center becomes long. As a result, it is not suitable for high-speed charge / discharge, and it is difficult to improve the active material capacity to a value approximating its theoretical capacity.

Abstract

Description

社)またはTap Pack Volumeter(Sahndon Southern Instruments Inc.社)のような装置を用いることができる。
