Abstract
Description
導管を構成する白金または白金合金と、該導管の周囲に配置する断熱れんがと、は熱膨張係数が異なっているため、加熱時の熱膨張量の差、および冷却時の収縮量の差が問題となる。
このような加熱時の熱膨張量の差、若しくは冷却時の収縮量の差を吸収させるため、温度変化が生じた際に両者がわずかに相対移動できるように、両者の間にはキャスタブルセメントのような不定形のセラミックス材料が充填される。
図1は、減圧脱泡装置の一構成例を示した断面図である。図1に示す減圧脱泡装置100において、減圧ハウジング120内に減圧脱泡槽130が、その長軸が水平方向に配向するように収納配置されている。減圧脱泡槽130の一端の下面には上昇管140が、他端の下面には下降管150が取り付けられている。減圧ハウジング120内において、減圧脱泡槽130、上昇管140および下降管150の周囲には断熱材160が配設されている。
上昇管140は、導管170、180、および190を介して溶融ガラスの上流側の構造物(図示していない。例えば、ガラス溶解槽。)と接続されている。下降管150は、導管200、220、および240を介して下流側の構造物(図示していない。例えば、フロートバスのような板ガラス成形装置。)と接続されている。より具体的に説明すると、垂直方向の中心軸がある上昇管140は、水平方向に中心軸がある導管170、垂直方向に中心軸がある導管180および水平方向に中心軸がある導管190を介して上流側の構造物と接続されている。一方、垂直方向に中心軸がある下降管150は、水平方向に中心軸がある導管200、垂直方向に中心軸がある導管220および水平方向に中心軸がある導管240を介して下流側の構造物と接続されている。なお、上昇管140、下降管150、導管170、180、190、200、220、および240は白金または白金合金製の管である。
このような構造において、垂直方向に中心軸がある管(140、150、180、および220)単独、若しくは水平方向に中心軸がある管(170、190、200、および240)単独の場合、白金または白金合金製の管と、断熱れんがと、の加熱時の熱膨張量の差、若しくは冷却時の収縮量の差は、両者の間に充填された不定形のセラミックス材料で吸収することができる。しかしながら、垂直方向に中心軸がある管と水平方向に中心軸がある管との接合部(上昇管140と導管170との接合部、下降管150と導管200との接合部、導管170と導管180との接合部、導管180と導管190との接合部、導管200と導管220との接合部、および導管220と導管240との接合部。)では、加熱時の熱膨張量の差、若しくは冷却時の収縮量の差を、不定形のセラミックス材料で吸収することができず、該接合部で亀裂が発生するおそれがある。接合部で亀裂が発生すると、該亀裂から漏えいした溶融ガラスによって周囲に配置された断熱れんがが侵食される問題がある。これにより、修復工事による生産性の低下、設備寿命が短くなる等の問題がある。
前記第1の導管および前記第2の導管の周囲に配される、セラミックス構造体と、を有する、溶融ガラス搬送設備要素であって、
前記セラミックス構造体は、全体組成に対する質量%で酸化ジルコニウムを75wt%以上含有し、かつ、前記酸化ジルコニウムに占める立方晶ジルコニアの割合が80wt%以上であり、
前記セラミックス構造体の平均開気孔率が5~60%であり、
前記セラミックス構造体の20~1000℃における線熱膨張係数が8×10-6~12×10-6/℃であることを特徴とする溶融ガラス搬送設備要素を提供する。
なお、従来から加熱時の熱膨張、若しくは冷却時の収縮による導管接合部での亀裂の発生防止、および、溶融ガラスの漏えいによるセラミックス構造体の侵食防止を両立することは困難であった。
しかし、本発明の溶融ガラス搬送設備要素を含むガラス製造装置は、加熱時の熱膨張、若しくは冷却時の収縮によって、導管接合部での亀裂が発生することが防止されていること、および、何らかの理由で溶融ガラスが漏えいするようなことがあってもセラミックス構造体が侵食され難いことから、信頼性に優れており、長期間にわたって安定してガラスを製造することができる。
図2は、本発明の溶融ガラス搬送設備要素の1構成例を示した断面図である。なお、図2は、図1における導管200、220および240の部分拡大図に相当する。
図2に示す溶融ガラス搬送設備要素において、溶融ガラス用導管構造体1は、垂直方向に中心軸のある第1の導管(以下、「垂直管」という。)1aに対して、水平方向に中心軸のある2本の第2の導管(以下、「水平管」という。)1b,および別の1bが連通した構造である。
なお、前記セラミックス構造体の設置作業性を考慮すると、垂直管と水平管との接合部分において該垂直管と該水平管とがなす角度は90±10°の範囲内であることが好ましい。
第1の導管および第2の導管を構成する白金または白金合金は、白金または白金合金にAl2O3、ZrO2、またはY2O3のような金属酸化物粒子を分散させてなる強化白金であることが好ましい。これらの金属酸化物粒子の含有量は、白金合金(100質量%)に対して、0.1~0.5質量%であり、好ましくは0.15~0.4質量%である。
強化白金では、白金または白金合金に分散させた金属酸化物粒子が転位や結晶粒の成長を妨げる効果を生じ、これによって機械的強度が高められている。しかしながら、その一方で通常の白金または白金合金に比べて材料の延性が低下しているため、垂直管と水平管との接合部において、管の周囲に配置される断熱れんがとの加熱時の熱膨張量の差、若しくは冷却時の収縮量の差を管材料の伸びにより吸収することができず、該接合部で亀裂が発生しやすい。このため、加熱時の熱膨張、若しくは冷却時の収縮によって生じる前記白金または白金合金と、前記セラミックス構造体と、の熱膨張差がほとんど生じない本発明を適用するのが好ましい。
本発明におけるセラミックス構造体2は、全体組成に対する質量%で酸化ジルコニウムを75wt%以上含有し、かつ、酸化ジルコニウムに占める立方晶ジルコニアの割合が80wt%以上である。言い換えると、本発明は、第1の導管および第2の導管の周囲に配置する断熱れんがとして、完全安定化ジルコニアである立方晶ジルコニアを主体とするものを用いたものである。
立方晶ジルコニアを主体とすることにより、加熱時の熱膨張量、若しくは冷却時の収縮量が、第1の導管および第2の導管と、それらの周囲に配置されるセラミックス構造体と、でほぼ等しくなる。この結果、加熱時の熱膨張量若しくは冷却時の収縮量の差がきわめて小さくなり、加熱時の熱膨張若しくは冷却時の収縮によって垂直管と水平管との接合部で亀裂が発生することが防止される。
完全安定化ジルコニアである立方晶ジルコニアは、以下に示すように、20~1000℃において、該導管を構成する白金または白金合金と極めて近い線熱膨張係数を有するため、前記接合部で亀裂の発生を防止できる。
白金、および白金合金の線熱膨張係数:9.5×10-6/℃~11×10-6/℃、 立方晶ジルコニアの線熱膨張係数:8.5×10-6/℃~10.5×10-6/℃。
なお、立方晶ジルコニアのような酸化ジルコニウムは、耐熱性、溶融ガラスの耐食性、および腐食性ガスに対する耐食性等に優れており、溶融ガラスの導管である第1の導管および第2の導管の周囲に配置する断熱れんがとして好適である。
但し、白金または白金合金の線熱膨張係数は組成によって多少異なるので、第1の導管および第2の導管に用いる白金または白金合金の線熱膨張係数に応じてセラミックス構造体の線熱膨張係数を選択することが好ましい。具体的には、セラミックス構造体の20~1000℃における線熱膨張係数が、第1の導管および第2の導管を構成する白金または白金合金の20~1000℃における線熱膨張係数の±15%以内であることが好ましく、±10%以内であることがより好ましく、±5%以内であることがさらに好ましい。
安定化剤としては、酸化イットリウム、酸化セリウム、酸化マグネシウム、酸化カルシウム、酸化エルビニウム等があるが、溶融ガラスに対する耐食性に優れる、入手が容易である、長時間高温で保持しても安定である等の理由から酸化イットリウムおよび酸化セリウムが好ましい。
安定化剤として酸化イットリウムおよび酸化セリウムからなる群から選択される少なくとも1つを含有する場合、両者の合計含有率が6wt%以上であることが好ましく、8wt%以上であることがより好ましく、10wt%以上であることがさらに好ましい。
しかしながら、安定化剤の添加量が多すぎると、焼結が難しい、原料費が上がる等の問題がある。このため、両者の合計含有率が25wt%以下であることが好ましく、20wt%以下であることがより好ましい。
本発明のセラミックス構造体は、平均開気孔率が25~60%であることが好ましく、30~50%であることがより好ましく、35~45%であることが特に好ましい。
但し、平均気孔率が高めであると、セラミックス構造体内部に、導管からの熱が伝わりにくくなる箇所が発生し、部分的にセラミックス構造体の熱膨張が妨げられ、導管の一部に負荷を与える場合がある。したがって、導管に負荷を与えないようにする場合や、また耐食性をさらに向上させる場合には、セラミックス構造体の平均開気孔率は5~35%であることが好ましく、8~30%であることがより好ましく、10~25%であることが特に好ましい。
セラミックス構造体の平均開気孔率は、アルキメデス法や水銀ポロシメーター(Porosimeter)による測定により求めることができる。
本発明のセラミックス構造体は、部位によって開気孔率が異なっていてもよい。例えば、第1の導管および第2の導管と面する部位を他の部位よりも開気孔率を低くすることで、溶融ガラスに対する耐食性を高めることができる。
上述したように、本発明では、加熱時の熱膨張量、若しくは冷却時の収縮量が、第1の導管1aおよび第2の導管1bと、それらの周囲に配置されるセラミックス構造体2と、でほぼ等しくなる。しかしながら、第1の導管1aおよび第2の導管1bを構成する白金または白金合金と、セラミックス構造体2を構成する酸化ジルコニウムと、は熱伝導性が異なるため、加熱条件若しくは冷却条件によっては、加熱時の熱膨張、若しくは冷却時の収縮のタイミングに、両者の間でずれが生じる場合があり、垂直管である第1の導管1aと水平管である第2の導管1bとの接合部で亀裂が発生するおそれがある。
第1の導管1aおよび第2の導管1bと、セラミックス構造体2と、の間に間隙3を設けることで、両者の間での加熱時の熱膨張、若しくは冷却時の収縮のタイミングのずれを吸収することができ、接合部で亀裂が発生するのを防止できる。
なお、本発明では、加熱時の熱膨張量、若しくは冷却時の収縮量が、第1の導管1aおよび第2の導管1bと、それらの周囲に配置されるセラミックス構造体2と、でほぼ等しくなるので、間隙3に不定形のセラミックス材料を充填する必要はない。
なお、前記最大径rは、60mm以上であることが好ましい。この理由は、最大径rが60mm以上の場合、該導管の剛性確保が難しくなるため、本発明の効果(接合部での亀裂の発生防止)が発揮され、好ましいからである。
なお、前記最大径rは、これらの導管が用いられている部位によっても異なるが、図1に示す上昇管140、下降管150およびこれらに接続する導管170,180,190,200,220,若しくは240の場合、通常 120~400mmである。
間隙3の幅d(mm)は、1~3mmであることがより好ましく、1.5~2.5mmであることがさらに好ましい。
第2のセラミックス構造体として用いる断熱れんがの具体例としては、シリカ・アルミナ質断熱れんが、ジルコニア質断熱れんが、マグネシア質断熱れんが等が挙げられる。市販品としては、SP-15(日の丸窯業社製)、LBK3000(イソライト工業社製)等が挙げられる。
一方、第1の導管1aおよび第2の導管1bの最大径をr(mm)とするとき、第1のセラミックス構造体の厚さが0.3×r(mm)以下であることが、コスト面、施工の容易さ等の理由から好ましい。
第1のセラミックス構造体の厚さは、15~120mmであることがより好ましく、30~80mmであることがさらに好ましい。
本発明のガラス製造装置は、溶融ガラスの流路の少なくとも一部として、本発明の溶融ガラス搬送設備要素を用いたものであれば特に限定されず、上流側のガラス溶解槽や下流側の板ガラス成形装置(例えば、フロートバス)を含むものであってもよい。
(試験例1)
図3は、試験例1で使用した試験体の断面図である。試験例1では、強化白金製の中空管1cの周囲にセラミックス構造体2を配置し、該セラミックス構造体2の周囲に第2のセラミックス構造体4を配置した状態で該中空管1cを通電加熱することにより、該中空管1cにおける変形やクラックの発生の有無を評価した。
図4には示されていないが、中空管1cの下端にも通電加熱用の給電部6を溶接した。なお、フランジ5および給電部6は強化白金(白金-ロジウム合金(白金90質量%、ロジウム10質量%)にZrO2粒子を0.16質量%分散させたもの。)である。
また、図3に示すように、セラミックス構造体2は、2つの給電部6に挟まれた状態となっているが、セラミックス構造体2の下端側は給電部6と機械的に固定されている(図示していない。)。
セラミックス構造体2の外側には、市販のシリカ・アルミナ質断熱れんが(SP-15(日の丸窯業社製))を第2のセラミックス構造体4として配置した。
第2のセラミックス構造体4の周囲を金属製の枠材で締め付けたものを試験体とした。
温度サイクル試験後、試験体を解体して中空管1cの状態を確認したが、上記2種類の平均気孔率のセラミックス構造体の場合とも、中空管1cの変形やクラックは認められなかった。但し、平均気孔率約40%のセラミックス構造体の場合には、フランジ5の溶接部直下の一部に円弧状のしわが見られた。また、中空管1cの周囲に配置していた上記2種類の平均気孔率のセラミックス構造体の場合とも、外見はほとんど変化がなかった。したがって、平均気孔率が5~35%であると、特に導管からセラミックス構造体内部への熱が伝わりやすくなり、導管に負荷を与えることが防止される。
図5は、比較例1で使用した試験体の断面図である。比較例1で使用した試験体では、中空管1cの周囲にセラミックス構造体2を配置する代わりに、中空管1cの周囲に試験例1で第2のセラミックス構造体4として使用した市販のシリカ・アルミナ質断熱れんが(SP-15(日の丸窯業社製))を約30mmの間隙3を設けて配置し、次いで、該間隙3に中空粒子のアルミナモルタルを水で混練したものを隙間なく充填して不定形のセラミックス材料の層を形成した点を除いて、試験例1と同様の手順で温度サイクル試験を実施した。
温度サイクル試験後、試験体を解体して中空管1cの状態を確認したところ、中空管1cのフランジ5を溶接した部分で微細なクラックが生じていた。また、中空管1cの周囲に配置していたアルミナモルタル層は、固化した後に割れたようにいくつものかけらに分かれていた。
試験例1のセラミックス構造体2と同じ材料を用いて、平均気孔率が8%と33%と54%の3種の試験サンプル(形状:円筒形(直径20mm、高さ90mm))を作製した。この試験サンプル10を図6に示すように、白金製のるつぼ20内に入った溶融ガラス30(ホウケイ酸ガラス)に大気中で浸漬させる浸漬試験を実施した。この際、溶融ガラスの最高温度は1450℃であり、試験サンプル10の浸漬時間は100時間とした。保持時間終了後、試験サンプル10を取り出して自然放冷した。その後、試験サンプルを縦に切断して断面の状態を確認した。いずれの試験サンプルでもガラスが内部まで浸入することはなく、耐侵食性が確保され、初期の形状が維持されていた。但し、平均気孔率が54%の試験サンプルでは、外周部の一部にガラスが浸入し、セラミックスの表面の一部に剥離が見られた。したがって、平均気孔率が5~35%であると、特に耐食性が向上する。
(比較例2)
試験例1で第2のセラミックス構造体4として使用した市販のシリカ・アルミナ質断熱れんが(SP-15(日の丸窯業社製))についても同様の手順で溶融ガラスに浸漬させた。侵食により断熱れんがは完全に崩壊してしまい、断面の状態は観察できなかった。
図1に示す減圧脱泡装置において、上昇管140、導管170、180、および190からなる組み合わせと、下降管150および導管200、220、240からなる組み合わせとを、本発明の溶融ガラス搬送設備要素として構成する。
強化白金製(白金-ロジウム合金(白金90質量%、ロジウム10質量%)にZrO2粒子を0.16質量%分散させたもの。20~1000℃における線熱膨張係数10.3×10-6/℃。)の上昇管140、下降管150、導管170、180、190、200、220、および240(断面形状:円形、外径:180mm)の周囲に、立方晶ジルコニアを主体とする第1のセラミックス構造体(全体組成に対する酸化ジルコニウムの含有割合は88wt%であり、酸化ジルコニウムに占める立方晶ジルコニアの割合は95wt%であり、さらに安定化剤として酸化イットリウムを12wt%含有し、平均開気孔率は12%または35%、20~1000℃における線熱膨張係数は9.8×10-6/℃である。厚さは45mmである。)を、管との間に1.5mmの間隙を開けて配置する。
第1のセラミックス構造体の外側には、第2のセラミックス構造体として、シリカ・アルミナ質断熱れんがを配置する。
図1に示す減圧脱泡装置の上流側に溶解槽を、下流側にフロートバスを配置して、板ガラスを製造する。それぞれの垂直管と水平管との接合部では亀裂が発生せず、ガラスを安定して製造することができる。

Claims (8)
- 垂直方向に中心軸のある第1の導管と、該第1の導管と連通する水平方向に中心軸のある第2の導管と、を、少なくとも1本ずつ有し、該第1の導管および該第2の導管が白金または白金合金からなる、溶融ガラス用導管構造体と、
前記第1の導管および前記第2の導管の周囲に配されるセラミックス構造体と、を有する、溶融ガラス搬送設備要素であって、
前記セラミックス構造体は、全体組成に対する質量%で酸化ジルコニウムを75wt%以上含有し、かつ、前記酸化ジルコニウムに占める立方晶ジルコニアの割合が80wt%以上であり、
前記セラミックス構造体の平均開気孔率が5~60%であり、
前記セラミックス構造体の20~1000℃における線熱膨張係数が8×10-6~12×10-6/℃であることを特徴とする溶融ガラス搬送設備要素。 - 前記セラミックス構造体の20~1000℃における線熱膨張係数が、前記第1の導管および前記第2の導管を構成する白金または白金合金の20~1000℃における線熱膨張係数の±15%以内である請求項1に記載の溶融ガラス搬送設備要素。

- 前記第1の導管および前記第2の導管の最大径をr(mm)(但し、r≧60mm)とするとき、前記第1の導管および前記第2の導管と、前記セラミックス構造体と、の間に0.5mm以上0.02×r(mm)以下の間隙が設けられている請求項1~4のいずれかに記載の溶融ガラス搬送設備要素。
- 前記第1の導管および前記第2の導管の最大径をr(mm)(但し、r≧60mm)とするとき、前記セラミックス構造体の厚さが15mm以上0.3×r(mm)以下である請求項1~5のいずれかに記載の溶融ガラス搬送設備要素。
