Abstract
冷媒を圧縮するスクロール型圧縮機を備えた冷凍回路であって、冷媒としてR1234yfを用いるとともに、冷凍回路の潤滑油としてポリオールエステルを使用したことを特徴とする冷凍回路。このような冷凍回路においては望ましくない反応生成物の堆積を防止することができるため、環境負荷を低減し、かつ、従来と同様の動作安定性を達成した冷凍回路を実現することが可能となる。
Description
本発明は冷凍回路に関し、とくに、冷媒としてR1234yfが使用される冷凍回路に関する。
例えば車両用空調装置等に用いられる冷凍回路は、図1に示すような基本構成を有している。図1において、冷凍回路1は、冷媒を圧縮する圧縮機2と、圧縮した冷媒を凝縮する凝縮器3と、凝縮した冷媒を減圧・膨張させる減圧・膨張手段としての膨張弁4と、減圧・膨張した冷媒を蒸発させる蒸発器5とを備えており、この冷凍回路1中を冷媒がその状態を変化させながら循環される。このような冷凍回路1においては、現状、代表的な冷媒としてR134aが使用されており、潤滑油としてポリアルキレングリコール(PAG)が一般的に使用されている。
この現状の代表的な冷媒R134aに対し、地球温暖化係数(GWP)等のさらなる改善を目指して、新冷媒の研究、開発が行われている(例えば、非特許文献1)。このような改善を目指した新冷媒として、最近、R1234yfが公表され、例えば、車両用空調装置等に用いられる冷凍回路への適用についても、試験、研究を行うことが可能な状況となってきた。

しかしながら、R1234yfはR134aと比較して化学的安定性が低く、冷媒の劣化または変性により強酸であるフッ化水素が発生する場合がある。このため、冷媒としてR1234yfが使用される冷凍回路においては、従来の冷凍回路において一般的であった部材や潤滑油等が分解もしくは変性を受ける可能性があり、冷凍回路の実用化に際しては試験による十分な安全性確認が必要となる。実際、圧縮機としてスクロール型圧縮機が備えられている冷凍回路においては、冷媒としてR1234yfを使用し、かつ、潤滑油としてポリアルキレングリコールを用いた場合、後述の試験例で詳しく説明するように、高速高負荷条件下において冷凍回路内にパラフィンが生成するという実験事実が判明している。そして、このように望ましくない反応生成物が冷凍回路内の低温部分に析出した場合、そのことが冷凍回路の詰まりや冷凍性能の低下といった不具合を引き起こす原因となるおそれがある。したがって、冷凍回路において冷媒としてR1234yfを用いる場合、高速高負荷条件下においても望ましくない反応生成物が回路内に析出することを防止可能な構成を実現することが必要となる。
そこで本発明の課題は、圧縮機としてスクロール型圧縮機が備えられており、かつ、冷媒としてR1234yfが用いられる冷凍回路において、高速高負荷条件下における望ましくない反応生成物の回路内における析出を防止し、安定した冷凍性能を維持できるようにした冷凍回路を提供することにある。
上記課題を解決するために、本発明に係る冷凍回路は、冷媒を圧縮するスクロール型圧縮機を備えた冷凍回路であって、前記冷媒としてR1234yfを用いるとともに、前記冷凍回路の潤滑油としてポリオールエステルを使用したことを特徴とするものからなる。
このような冷凍回路においては、冷凍回路の潤滑油としてポリオールエステルを使用しているので、冷媒R1234yfまたはその分解成分(例えば、フッ化水素など)と潤滑油との化学反応によって冷凍回路内に望ましくない反応生成物が析出してしまうことがなく、長時間運転時においても安定した冷凍性能を維持することが可能である。後述する試験例で詳しく説明する通り、冷媒を圧縮するスクロール型圧縮機を備えた冷凍回路においては、冷媒としてR1234yfを使用し、かつ、潤滑油として従来一般的であったポリアルキレングリコールを使用した場合、高速高負荷条件下において冷凍回路内にパラフィンが析出する現象が観察されており、この現象が冷凍回路の詰まりや冷凍性能低下などの不具合の原因となり得る可能性が懸念されている。一方、同一条件下において潤滑油としてポリオールエステルを使用した場合は、高速高負荷条件下においてもパラフィンの生成が起こらないことが、同じく後述の試験例により確認されている。すなわち、圧縮機としてスクロール型圧縮機を備えており、かつ、冷媒R1234yfを使用している冷凍回路においては、潤滑油としてポリオールエステルを使用することにより、望ましくない反応生成物の発生を防止することができ、従来と同様の動作安定性を実現することが可能となる。なお、ポリオールエステルを潤滑油として使用可能であることは以前から知られているが、冷媒R1234yfを使用している冷凍回路においてポリオールエステルを使用した例は知られておらず、ポリオールエステルとパラフィン生成を関連付けた例も見当たらない。
本発明におけるポリオールエステルは、とくに限定されるものではないが、エーテル結合を有しない化合物を主成分としてなるものであることが好ましい。前述の通り、スクロール型圧縮機を備え冷媒R1234yfを使用する冷凍回路において、潤滑油としてポリアルキレングリコールを使用した場合、冷凍回路内にパラフィンが生成することが確認されている。このポリアルキレングリコールは分子内に多数のエーテル結合を有するポリエーテルである。一方、後述する試験例においてパラフィン生成が起こらないことが確認されているポリオールエステルは、多価アルコールと有機酸とのエステル化合物である。このポリオールエステルは分子内にエーテル結合を全く有しないか、またはごくわずかしかエーテル結合を持たない場合が多い。以上のことから、冷媒R1234yfを使用している冷凍回路においては、エーテル結合によって起こる化学反応が、パラフィン生成の一因となっているおそれがあるという推測が妥当である。そこで、エーテル結合を有しない化合物を潤滑油として使用することにより、パラフィン生成を抑制し、望ましくない反応生成物の析出を防止できる可能性がある。しかしながら、本発明はエーテル結合を有する化合物の使用を妨げるものではなく、高速高負荷条件下においても不具合が発生しない範囲であれば、エーテル結合を有する化合物が潤滑油に含まれていてもよい。
また、本発明におけるポリオールエステルは、とくに限定されるものではないが、ヒンダードアルコールからなるヒンダードエステルであることが好ましい。通常のアルコールは、水酸基OHから数えて二番目の位置(ベータ位置)にある炭素と結合している水素が高い反応性を持つため、熱や酸に対して不安定である。これに対し、ヒンダードアルコールおよびそれからなるヒンダードエステルは、ベータ位置の炭素が水素との結合を有しておらず、通常のアルコールと比較して熱的安定性が高いという特徴を持つ。したがって、冷媒が高温状態になり得る冷凍回路においては、潤滑油として熱的安定性の高いヒンダードエステルを使用することにより、高速高負荷条件下においても安定した冷凍性能を実現することが可能となる。
上述のヒンダードアルコールとしては、とくに限定されるものではないが、例えば、ネオペンチルグリコール、トリメチロールエタン、トリメチロールプロパン、トリメチロールブタン、ペンタエリスリトール、ジペンタエリスリトール等が挙げられる。このようなヒンダードアルコールを使用することにより、熱的安定性の高いポリオールエステルを得ることができる。
また、本発明におけるポリオールエステルは、とくに限定されるものではないが、炭素数が5から18までの直鎖または分枝脂肪酸からなる少なくとも1種の化合物からなるものであることが好ましい。ポリオールエステルの粘度、耐加水分解性、高温時安定性などの物性は、原料となる脂肪酸の炭素鎖の構造によって変化する。すなわち、直鎖脂肪酸においては炭素鎖の長さを、また、分枝脂肪酸においては分枝の長さ、位置、分枝の数などを変更することで、それらを原料として合成されるポリオールエステルの物性を調整することが可能である。したがって、上述の範囲で示された中から適切な脂肪酸を選択することにより、目的とする冷凍回路に適した物性を有するポリオールエステルを得ることが可能となる。しかしながら、本発明におけるポリオールエステルの原料となる有機酸は、必ずしも上記の脂肪酸のみに限定されるものではなく、他のあらゆる種類の有機酸を適用することが可能である。
また、本発明における潤滑油には、添加物が含まれていてもよい。添加物の成分としては、とくに限定されるものではないが、例えば、極圧剤、酸捕捉剤、酸化防止剤、金属不活性化剤等が挙げられる。これらの添加剤を加えることにより、さまざまな条件下で冷凍回路に起こり得る不具合を防止し、冷凍回路の性能を維持することが可能である。例えば、添加剤として極圧剤を加えることにより、高圧条件下においても潤滑油の滑性を保つことができ、部品の摩耗や焼付を防止することができる。また、酸捕捉剤や酸化防止剤、金属不活性化剤等を添加することにより、冷媒や潤滑油の分解成分によって引き起こされる可能性がある望ましくない化学反応を抑制することができる。これによって、冷媒回路構成部材の分解や変質による冷媒漏れ、および、冷凍回路内における望ましくない反応生成物の析出による、詰まりや性能低下などの不具合を防止することが可能となる。なお、本発明における潤滑油の添加剤は、上記のような冷凍回路の性能維持を目的とするもののみに限定されるものではなく、他のあらゆる種類の添加剤を適用することが可能である。
本発明に係る冷凍回路は、車両空調装置用冷凍回路として用いて好適なものである。車両空調装置用冷凍回路に本発明を適用することにより、環境負荷を低減し、かつ、従来と同様の動作安定性を達成した冷凍回路を実現することが可能となる。
このように、本発明に係る冷凍回路によれば、圧縮機としてスクロール型圧縮機が備えられており、かつ、冷媒としてR1234yfが使用されている冷凍回路において、望ましくない反応生成物の析出を防止し、詰まりや冷凍性能低下などの不具合を防ぐことができる。そのため、本発明によれば、従来回路と比較して環境負荷を低減し、かつ、従来と同様の動作安定性を達成した冷凍回路を実現することが可能となる。
以下、実施例および比較例としての試験例を示し、本発明をより具体的に説明するが、本発明は下記の実施例に限定されるものではない。
以下では、冷媒を圧縮するスクロール型圧縮機を備えた冷凍回路において、冷媒としてR1234yfを使用した場合のパラフィン析出有無について、潤滑油としてポリオールエステルを使用した場合と、比較のための従来例としてポリアルキレングリコールを使用した場合とを、実験結果を参照しつつ説明する。なお、試験における冷凍回路の運転条件および試料については、それぞれ以下のように条件を設定した。また、試料(F)のパラフィンワックスは、試料(E)の潤滑油濾過時のみ検出され、他の(A)~(D)の潤滑油濾過時においては検出されなかった。
[運転条件]
高速高負荷条件:スクロール型圧縮機を備え、冷媒としてR1234yfを使用した冷凍回路を、毎分6000回転以上で約400時間連続運転した。
低速高負荷条件:スクロール型圧縮機を備え、冷媒としてR1234yfを使用した冷凍回路を、毎分1500回転以下で約400時間連続運転した。
高速高負荷条件:スクロール型圧縮機を備え、冷媒としてR1234yfを使用した冷凍回路を、毎分6000回転以上で約400時間連続運転した。
低速高負荷条件:スクロール型圧縮機を備え、冷媒としてR1234yfを使用した冷凍回路を、毎分1500回転以下で約400時間連続運転した。
[試料]
(A)POE 試験前:負荷試験実施前のポリオールエステル(POE)を採取した。
(B)POE 試験後(高速高負荷条件):潤滑油としてポリオールエステルを使用した冷凍回路を、上記高速高負荷条件で運転後、冷凍回路内に残留しているポリオールエステルを採取した。
(C)PAG 試験前:負荷試験実施前のポリアルキレングリコール(PAG)を採取した。
(D)PAG 試験後(低速高負荷条件):潤滑油としてポリアルキレングリコールを使用した冷凍回路を、上記低速高負荷条件で運転後、冷凍回路内に残留しているポリアルキレングリコールを採取した。
(E)PAG 試験後(高速高負荷条件):潤滑油としてポリアルキレングリコールを使用した冷凍回路を、上記高速高負荷条件で運転後、冷凍回路内に残留しているポリアルキレングリコールを採取した。
(F)パラフィンワックス:上記(E)の試験実施後、冷凍回路内に残留しているポリアルキレングリコールを濾過し、フィルター側に残留した白色物質を回収した。
(A)POE 試験前:負荷試験実施前のポリオールエステル(POE)を採取した。
(B)POE 試験後(高速高負荷条件):潤滑油としてポリオールエステルを使用した冷凍回路を、上記高速高負荷条件で運転後、冷凍回路内に残留しているポリオールエステルを採取した。
(C)PAG 試験前:負荷試験実施前のポリアルキレングリコール(PAG)を採取した。
(D)PAG 試験後(低速高負荷条件):潤滑油としてポリアルキレングリコールを使用した冷凍回路を、上記低速高負荷条件で運転後、冷凍回路内に残留しているポリアルキレングリコールを採取した。
(E)PAG 試験後(高速高負荷条件):潤滑油としてポリアルキレングリコールを使用した冷凍回路を、上記高速高負荷条件で運転後、冷凍回路内に残留しているポリアルキレングリコールを採取した。
(F)パラフィンワックス:上記(E)の試験実施後、冷凍回路内に残留しているポリアルキレングリコールを濾過し、フィルター側に残留した白色物質を回収した。
上記の6種類の試料について、FT-IR(フーリエ変換型赤外分光)分析を実施した結果を図2に示す。まず、潤滑油としてポリオールエステルを使用した(A)および(B)を比較すると、この2つの試料はほぼ同じIRスペクトルを示しており、試料組成物の分子構造がほとんど変化していないことが分かる。一方、潤滑油としてポリアルキレングリコールを使用した(C)、(D)および(E)を比較した場合、(C)と(D)では大きな変化が見られないが、(E)は他の2つのスペクトルと比較して、720~730cm-1付近に吸収が起こっていることが分かる。この吸収はパラフィン試料(F)のIRスペクトルにおいても同様に観測されているものである。すなわち、ポリアルキレングリコールを高速高負荷条件下で使用した(E)においてパラフィン(F)が生成しており、かつ、この物質が試験前の(C)や低速高負荷条件時の(D)には含まれていないことが、この実験結果によって示されている。
上記FT-IR分析結果を900cm-1~700cm-1の範囲で拡大した図を、図3に示す。上記と同様に、潤滑油としてポリオールエステルを使用した(A)および(B)の比較においては吸収スペクトルに大きな差が見られず、分子構造がほとんど変化していないことが分かる。一方、潤滑油としてポリアルキレングリコールを使用した(C)、(D)および(E)を比較した場合、(E)のみ720~730cm-1付近に大きな吸収が起こっており、この吸収が(F)のパラフィンのIRスペクトルにおいても同様に観測されていることが分かる。これらの実験結果は図2において示されたものと同様である。潤滑油および冷凍回路運転条件の違いによるパラフィン析出有無の違いを表1に示す。
試料(E)の試験後に採取されたパラフィン試料(F)のより詳細な分析結果を、図2、図3、図4、図5、図6、および表2に示す。図2、図3および図4はパラフィン試料(F)のFT-IR分析結果である。前述の通り、パラフィン試料(F)のIR吸収スペクトルは720~730cm-1付近に特徴的なピークがあり、他に2920cm-1、2850cm-1、1470cm-1、1460cm-1付近においても吸収があることが示されている。このパラフィン試料(F)を、DSC(示差走査熱量測定)によって分析した結果を図5に示す。図5から、パラフィン試料(F)の融解温度が46~65℃の範囲に渡っており、融点ピークが49.5℃および62.6℃にあることが分かる。図6は、パラフィン試料(F)のGC-MS(ガスクロマトグラフ質量分析)チャートである。図6によると、ほぼ一定間隔の質量差を持つ化合物がピークとして現れており、表2の分子量分布に示すような一群の飽和炭化水素がパラフィン試料(F)に含まれていることが読み取れる。
本発明はあらゆる種類の冷凍回路に適用可能であり、とくに、冷媒を圧縮するスクロール型圧縮機が備えられており、かつ、冷媒としてR1234yfが用いられている車両空調装置用冷凍回路として好適なものである。

Claims (9)
- 冷媒を圧縮するスクロール型圧縮機を備えた冷凍回路であって、前記冷媒としてR1234yfを用いるとともに、前記冷凍回路の潤滑油としてポリオールエステルを使用したことを特徴とする冷凍回路。
- 前記ポリオールエステルの主成分が、エーテル結合を含まない化合物からなる、請求項1に記載の冷凍回路。
- 前記潤滑油が、エーテル結合を有する化合物も含んでいる、請求項1または2に記載の冷凍回路。
- 前記ポリオールエステルがヒンダードエステルである、請求項1~3のいずれかに記載の冷凍回路。
- 前記ポリオールエステルが、ネオペンチルグリコール、トリメチロールエタン、トリメチロールプロパン、トリメチロールブタン、ペンタエリスリトール、ジペンタエリスリトールからなる群から選ばれた少なくとも1種の化合物からなる、請求項4に記載の冷凍回路。
- 前記ポリオールエステルが、炭素数が5から18までの直鎖または分枝脂肪酸からなる少なくとも1種の化合物からなる、請求項1~5のいずれかに記載の冷凍回路。
- 前記潤滑油に添加物が含まれている、請求項1~6のいずれかに記載の冷凍回路。
- 前記添加物が、極圧剤、酸捕捉剤、酸化防止剤、金属不活性化剤からなる群から選ばれた少なくとも1種の添加剤からなる、請求項7に記載の冷凍回路。
- 車両空調装置用冷凍回路である、請求項1~8のいずれかに記載の冷凍回路。
