- the magnetic disk drive 504 is controlled to start from the POI database on the magnetic disk 505.
- the position information and address information of the search point are acquired (step S802).
- step S803 it is determined whether or not the address information recording format is format C.
- step S803: No that is, when it is determined that the predetermined road name is removed from the address information
- the search is performed based on the position information of the search point.
- a link in the vicinity of the point (for example, within 15 meters around the search point) is extracted (step S804).
- step S805 it is determined whether there are a plurality of links (step S805).
- step S805: No When it is determined that there are not a plurality of links (step S805: No), that is, when it is determined that the recording format of the address information is format A, it is determined whether or not there are a plurality of road names (step S806).
- step S806: No When it is determined that there are not a plurality of road names (step S806: No), that is, when it is determined that the point corresponds to the point 1 indicated by the reference numeral 703 shown in FIG. 7, the magnetic disk drive 504 is controlled. That is, it is possible not to store the address data in the POI database and to use the address data from the map database. Note that in this case, an area where addresses are assigned to the links at a predetermined rate is targeted.
- the information creation server 900 divides the link into a predetermined ratio, and prevents the address data from being stored in the POI database when the divided ratio can be associated with the address of the actual address. Specifically, the addresses from one end to the other end of a link are sequentially from address 1 to address 50, and by dividing the link into 50, the address address is associated with the divided ratio (50). If it is possible, the address data is not stored in the POI database. Thereby, the data amount of the POI database can be reduced by the address data.
- the navigation device 500 it is possible to obtain and output the address data corresponding to the ratio from the map database by using the position information of the point and determining which ratio the position corresponds to on the link. it can. If the address from one end to the other end of a link is not in order, that is, if the actual address and the link ratio do not match, the POI database is the same as in the conventional recording format.
- the address data may be stored in the.
- the POI database when the predetermined area name stored in the map database is included in the address information of each point, the POI database includes the predetermined information. Since the address information is stored so as not to include the area name, the data amount of the POI database can be reduced.
- the POI database stores the address information excluding the road name. The amount of data for road names can be reduced from the POI database.
- the specific information for specifying the road name is created, and the specific information is stored in the POI database by removing the road name from the address information. Since the address information is stored in the recording format B, the difference between the text data and the specific information and the data amount of the POI database can be reduced.
- a recording order indicating the priority of the road names is assigned (designated), priority information is added, and the road names are excluded from the POI database. Since the address information is stored, the amount of data in the POI database can be reduced, and an appropriate address can be displayed even for points having a plurality of road names.
- the POI database can store the address information excluding the city name. The amount of data for city names can be reduced from the POI database.
- the address information including the predetermined area name is stored in the POI database for points where the predetermined area name is not included in the address information of each point, the predetermined area name is included in the address. For locations where there is no road or where there is no road nearby, an appropriate address can be displayed in the conventional recording format (recording format C).
- the data amount of the POI database can be reduced. it can.
- the information processing method and data creation method described in the first and second embodiments can be realized by executing a program prepared in advance on a computer such as a personal computer or a workstation.
- This program is recorded on a computer-readable recording medium such as a hard disk, a flexible disk, a CD-ROM, an MO, and a DVD, and is executed by being read from the recording medium by the computer.
- the program may be a transmission medium that can be distributed via a network such as the Internet.
