Abstract

 表示エリア(11)の外光の光量を検出する第1のフォトセンサ(PS1)と、遮光時の暗電流を検出する第2のフォトセンサ(PS2)と、第1のフォトセンサ(PS1)と第2のフォトセンサ(PS2)との選択を行う切り替えスイッチ(SW1、SW2)と、選択された第1のフォトセンサ(PS1)または第2のフォトセンサ(PS2)の出力と所定の基準値との比較を行うコンパレータ(102)と、第1のフォトセンサ(PS1)によるコンパレータ(102)の比較結果と、第2のフォトセンサ(PS2)によるコンパレータ(102)の比較結果との差分を演算し、この演算結果に応じて表示領域へ与える光量を制御する制御手段とを備え、表示装置に適用したフォトセンサにおける性能ばらつきによる検出誤差の影響を抑制して、表示領域へ与える光量を的確に調整する。
