- Conventional solutions of blade shapes aimed at reducing the noise levels are set forth e.g. in Patent documents WO 01/92726, US 4,089,618 and 5,603,607. The said documents disclose solutions with specially shaped leading and/or trailing blade edges.

- the blade according to the invention has corrugated pressure and suction sides of the active blade surface, whereby the fluid flow over the pressure and suction sides is directed along a more favorable path. This results in a reduced radial speed component and, consequently, in an improved outflow from the blade, ultimately leading to lower noise emissions without compromising the efficiency of the fan.
- the corrugation also imparts a greater stiffness to the blade, resulting in smaller in-operation deformations of the blade.
- the fan blade shown in Figure 1 represents the active part of the fan, ensuring the transport of the fluid at a given pressure difference.
- the outer diameter of the blade is not limited.
- Each blade is defined by four parts, namely:
- the leading edge 2 is the edge whereby the blade scoops the fluid, and is facing in the direction of rotation 1.
- the blade scoops the fluid with the leading edge 2.
- the fluid travels over the pressure surface 4 and the suction surface 5, leaving the blade at the trailing edge 3. Due to the fact that the fluid is subjected to centrifugal forces while flowing over the blade, the radial component of its speed increases.
- the novel blade shape as illustrated in Figure 1 has crests 6 and troughs 7 on the pressure side 4 and on the suction side 5.
- the alternation of crests 6 and troughs 7 is shown in Figure 3, by way of cross-sections of the blade along the lines A-A, B-B, C-C and D-D.
- crests 6 on the suction side 5 there are corresponding troughs 7 on the pressure side 4.
- the crests 6 and troughs 7 alternate along the entire span of the blade, which is to say, from its root, or axis of rotation, to its tip, or outer diameter, thus forming the corrugation of the blade.
- the said corrugation means that the waves, that is the alternating crests and troughs, extend along the span of the blade, and that the apexes of the crests and troughs are situated roughly within the rotational radius of the blade.
- the crests 6 and troughs 7, shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3, may be of a semicircular shape or any other shape that is readily visible on the pressure 4 and suction 5 sides of the blade and alternates along the entire span of the blade from its root, nearest to the rotational axis 1, to its tip at the outer diameter of the blade.
- the axial fan blade according to the invention is characterized in that, from its rotational axis to the outer blade edge, the blade exhibits a corrugated section, wherein the corrugation is of a preferably, but not exclusively, rounded-off shape.

Abstract
L'invention porte sur une pale de soufflante axiale à surfaces ondulées de pression (4) et de succion (5) présentant des crêtes (6) et des creux (7) visibles le long de des surfaces de pression (4) et de succion (5). La pale présente une forme ondulée/ondée. Les creux (7) et les crêtes (6) assurent un meilleur guidage du flux de fluide du bord d'attaque (2) au bord de fuite (3) le long des côtés de la pale soumis à la pression et à la succion. Ce guidage amélioré réduit la composante radiale de vitesse du flux et par là l'émission de bruit de la pale. Les ondulations renforcent par ailleurs la rigidité de la pale et de ce fait ses déformations en service.
