- the basic concept is to have a pair of chains over the sprockets supported by four pillar structure to rotate the chains and hanging garages which are supported by load bearing shafts connecting the pair of chains. Abstract
Hanging car park device which enables to park more cars in very less area. The device is very economical compared to other existing facilities. It is basically a rotating system providing parking in hanging garages through set of single link chain, sprockets, electric motor providing drive through set of reduction gears. Wheels provided in every alternate link of the chains are guided by the guide rails provided on the structural pillars prevent lateral swing of hanging garages. The floor of garage and lifting plate on hydraulic jack are so designed that any one pair of wheels at least (Front or Rear) is locked to prevent forward or backward movement of the car parked. This device can be transferred to any desired new location in which case foundation only will have to freshly made there.
Description
HANGING CAR PARK
This invention relates to car parking facilities Presently following systems are in use i) • Lift parking facility where central lift with car parking on both sides is provided ii) Underground parking for multi storeyed buildings iii) Parking facility at alternate floors
Following are draw backs with above systems i) All of them are very expensive ii) In many cases valuable FSI is sacrificed iii) These facilities have fixed location which cannot be altered when needed iv) In many cases movement of other cars parked is needed.

The basic concept is to have a pair of chains over the sprockets supported by four pillar structure to rotate the chains and hanging garages which are supported by load bearing shafts connecting the pair of chains. Wheels are provided on every alternate link of the chains. These wheels are engaged with guide rails supported by plate on the pillars. Electric motor provides drive through set of six reduction gears to sprockets at the top.

Brief description of drawings
Fig 1 Shows the general assembly of the hanging car park, where 1 is pillar structure, 2 is single link chain, 3 is sprockets and 4 is hanging garage.
Fig 2 shows Top view of load bearing shaft assembly with hanging garage fitted to the shaft, where 1 is collar on end shaft, 2 is wheel on each load bearing shaft end connections and also in every alternate link. 3 is guide rails, 4 is link chain, 5 is supporting plate for guide rails, 6 is end shaft at both ends with load bearing shafts and also in every alternate link of the chain, 7 is the coupling connecting end shaft with load bearing shaft (2"dia pipe reinforced with square plates at 10 mm dia round bar welded at each corner of square plate. )
Fig 3 shows front view assembly of Load bearing shaft with hanging garage fitted to the shaft where 1 is the hanging garage, 2 is the floor of hanging garage which has one pair of car wheels locking arrangement (either front wheels or rear wheels) to prevent forward and backward movement of the car in the hanging garage. 3 is the hydraulic jack having plate 4 welded to lift the floor of hanging garage to ground level.
Fig 4 shows sprocket - 1 is the sprocket on which the chain rotates. There are 2 sets each of 6 sprockets on two link chains.
Fig 5 - 1 is the end shaft fitted at every load bearing shaft ends and every alternate link of the chains.

Fig 7 shows Front view of the sprocket assembly where 1 is the housing, 2 is Taper bearing 3 is end shaft, 4 is sprocket, 5 is support plate, 6 is ball bearing and 7 is lock nut
Fig 8 shows drive arrangement plan view at the Top of the structure where 1 is electric motor, 2 is coupling, 3 is connecting shaft, 4 is 8" reduction gear, 5 is 6" reduction gear, 6 is housing for sprocket, 7 is sprocket, and 8 is hanging garage.
Detailed description of preferred embodiments
Referring to drawings fig 1 to fig 8 can be seen that the hanging car park device according to this invention comprises 4 pillar structure with 2 sets of chain, sprockets, load bearing shafts, connecting end shafts, wheels and guide rails, hanging garages, electric motor, sets of 8" & 6"reduction gears, connecting shafts, couplings providing drive to 4 top sprockets, hydraulic jack with plate to lift hanging garage floor to ground level, Turn Table to facilitate parking and de- parking of cars.
Electrical and electronic control panel (Software system) for automation of following operation is provided.
1) Bring the desired hanging garage to bottom
2) Raise the floor of hanging garage to ground level
3) Lower the floor below ground level after parking/de-parking
4) Positioning of turn table to park or de-park the car
5) To rotate hanging garages to desired position
The floor of hanging garage and lifting plate on the hydraulic jack are so designed to facilitate locking of at least one pair of wheels (Front or Rear) to prevent any back ward or forward movement of the car parked in hanging garage.
Whenever any car is to be parked, the car is brought on the turn table and then the turn table is turned 90 degrees to enable the car to enter the hanging garage which is brought to bottom by chain and sprocket rotation. Hydraulic jack is activated to lift the floor of hanging garage to ground level. Car is parked in the garage and garage floor is lowered by again activating the hydraulic jack. All operations are carried out in reverse cycle to get the car out of the hanging garage.
Thus the hanging car park provides facility to park more cars in a 6 Mtr x 6 Mtr area, eliminates the hassles of movements of other parked cars. This device is very economical.
Claims
I CLAIM
Hanging car park device comprising, 4 pillar structure with 2 sets of single link chain, sprockets, load bearing shafts, connecting end shafts, wheels, guide rails, bearings, hanging garages, set of reduction gears, electric motors, connecting shafts, couplings, hydraulic jack, turn table enabling parking and exist of cars.
Device as claimed in claim 1 wherein each hanging garage rotates without any lateral swing due to provision of wheels and guide rails fitted on every alternate link of the chain and pillar respectively.
Hanging garage floor and lifting plate designed in such a way that at least one pair of wheels (Front or Rear) gets stoppers to prevent forward or backward movement the car parked in the hanging garage.
Hanging Car park device of any of the claims 1 to 3 wherein two sets of single link chain and sprockets provide means of rotating hanging garages by the drive provided through set of reduction gears by electric motor.
A hanging car park device substantially as herein described and illustrated in figures of accompanying drawings.
