Abstract

排ガス浄化用触媒1は、排ガス流れ方向に延びる複数のセル通路4に区画する内壁21を有するハニカム基材2と、内壁21を被覆する触媒層3とからなる。排ガス浄化用触媒1における排ガス流れ方向Gの下流側の下流部12の径方向断面の触媒層厚みに対する触媒層のマクロ空隙率の比率(φ2)は、下流部12よりも上流側の上流部11の径方向断面の触媒層厚みに対する触媒層のマクロ空隙率の比率(φ1)よりも大きい。これにより、触媒層を有効に利用して排ガスの浄化率を向上させることができる。
