Abstract

 流出側触媒層22には流入側触媒層20における貴金属濃度以上の濃度で貴金属が含まれ、流入側触媒層20、細孔触媒層21及び流出側触媒層22には流入側触媒層20が流出側触媒層22より多い含有量でNOx吸蔵材を含む。主として流入側でPMが浄化され、主として流出側でNOxが浄化される。したがって貴金属の活性の低下が抑制されるとともに、PM及びNOxを効率よく浄化できる。
