Abstract

　直流電力を出力する直流電源回路１と、直流電源回路１が出力した直流電力を交流電力に変換して放電灯ＤＬに供給するインバータ回路２と、インバータ回路２の出力の周波数（動作周波数）を制御する制御回路３と、放電灯ＤＬにおける放電の開始（始動）を検出する始動検出回路４とを備える。制御回路３は、無負荷モード中に始動検出回路４によって放電灯ＤＬの始動が検出されたときから所定時間にわたって動作周波数を点灯モードでの動作周波数よりも低くする始動改善モードで動作し、その後、放電灯ＤＬの点灯を維持する点灯モードに移行する。これにより、放電灯ＤＬをスムーズに安定点灯に移行させることができる。
