Abstract

 本発明の目的は、アルコール燃料を気化供給する固体高分子型燃料電池において、優れた発電特性及び保管特性を実現できる燃料電池を提供することである。燃料極8に相対する燃料供給部1が、高濃度燃料槽3と、水分を貯蔵する水燃料槽4とによって構成されており、燃料極8と燃料槽3、4の間に細孔板(3d、4d)及び気液分離性を有する多孔質体(気化供給部3c、4c)からなる燃料気化供給層を具備しており、さらに高濃度燃料槽3側の燃料極横にCO2ガス排出口6を設けたことを特徴とする固体高分子型燃料電池を提供する。このように簡易な構造によって、発電時において燃料槽で必要なアルコール及び水を確保でき、安定した発電特性が得られる。さらに、保管時には水燃料槽4のみを開放状態にして発電部2を加湿することで優れた保管特性及び起動特性を実現する。
