Abstract

 この発明は、内燃機関の排気浄化装置に関し、排気通路上に上流側から水分吸着材およびNOx吸着材を備える内燃機関において、水分によってNOxの吸着能力が阻害させるのを好適に回避し、NOx吸着材のNOx吸着能力を十分に確保することを目的とする。  内燃機関10から排出された排気ガスが流れる主排気通路(14)を備える。主排気通路(14)を迂回するバイパス通路(20)を備える。バイパス通路(20)に、上流側接続部(20a)に近い側から順に、水分吸着材(24)およびNOx吸着材(28)を備える。水分吸着材(24)からの水分の脱離が開始されたと判断した時点で、排気ガスがNOx吸着材(28)に流入しないように切替バルブ(22)を制御する。
