Abstract

 薄型で、軽量で、輝度むらのない照明光を射出することができ、かつ大型化が可能な面状照明装置を提供することを目的とする。  光を射出する光源と、光源に対向して配置され、光源から射出された光を入射させ、面状の光として射出する導光板とを有し、導光板は、面状の光を射出する平坦な光射出面と、光源に対向して形成され光射出面の一辺を含む光入射面と、光射出面の一辺の対辺を含む端面と、光射出面とは反対側に形成された背面とを備え、背面が、端面と接合し、かつ端面から離れるに従って光射出面との距離が大きくなるように傾斜した第1の背面と、第1の背面と接合し、かつ光入射面と接合した第2の背面とで構成され、第1の背面と第2の背面とは接合して接合線を形成し、接合線から光入射面までの距離が、接合線から端面までの距離よりも小さく、かつ、光射出面と背面との距離は、接合線において最も大きくなる形状であることを特徴とする面状照明装置を提供する。
