Abstract

　薄型化および軽量化を図りながら、輝度の均一性を確保し、かつ、光の利用効率を向上させることが可能な照明装置を提供する。このバックライトユニット（１０、６０、７０）は、基板（１）の実装面（１ａ）に実装された複数の発光ダイオード（２１、７２）により構成される光源（２、７１）と、基板（１）の実装面（１ａ）に対して所定の間隔を隔てて対向する光導入面（４１ａ）を有し、複数の発光ダイオード（２１、７２）から発光される光の拡散を行う拡散板（４１）と、基板（１）の実装面（１ａ）に接着された反射シート（３）とを備えている。そして、複数の発光ダイオード（２１、７２）の発光方向は、拡散板（４１）の光導入面（４１ａ）に対して平行な方向となっている。
