Abstract

　ウォーム歯６ａとウォームホイール４との噛合状態を、動力の伝達方向に拘らずほぼ一定にする。そして、操舵力がステアリングホイールの回転方向により変化しにくく、しかも、不快な異音や振動が発生することがない構造を実現する。 　ウォーム軸７ａの先端部を支持するための転がり軸受８ａを構成する外輪２０の外周面と保持円筒部２４の内周面との間に、弾性保持部材２１を設ける。弾性保持部材２１は、半円筒部２２及びこの半円筒部２２の円周方向両端部からウォームホイール４の側に延出する１対の弾性腕部を備える。そして、半円筒部２２により外輪２０のウォームホイール４と反対側半部を抱持すると共に、１対の弾性腕部の先端部を保持円筒部２４の内周面に弾性的に当接させる。この構成により、ウォーム軸７ａの先端部がウォーム軸４の軸方向に変位しにくくして、上記課題を解決する。
