Abstract
本発明は、エステル交換工程の反応率を安定化して、高反応率を維持できる、脂肪酸低級アルキルエステルの製造方法を提供する。本発明は、(A)原料油脂と水分含量1000ppm以下の低級アルキルアルコールとを、質量比が原料油脂/低級アルキルアルコール=100/5~100/12の範囲で混合し、得られた混合物を陽イオン交換樹脂と連続的に接触させ、該原料油脂中に含まれる遊離脂肪酸をエステル化して、遊離脂肪酸含量を低減させた油脂を得る工程と、(B)工程(A)で得られた油脂へ、工程(B)で得られる混合物中の水分含量が5000ppm以下となるように、工程(D)から排出された低級アルキルアルコールと水分含量1000ppm以下の追加の低級アルキルアルコールとアルカリ触媒とを添加し混合して、油脂と低級アルキルアルコールとアルカリ触媒との混合物を得る工程と、(C)混合物中の油脂と低級アルキルアルコールとをアルカリ触媒存在下でのエステル交換反応に付して、脂肪酸低級アルキルエステルを得る工程、及び(D)工程(A)の陽イオン交換樹脂を、水分含量1000ppm以下の低級アルキルアルコールと接触させて、該陽イオン交換樹脂を洗浄する工程とを含むことを特徴とする。
