- the transparent cover is intended to protect the mirror and the other components of the head-up display device against damage and penetration of dirt, moisture and foreign objects.
- a protection against solar radiation and the resulting heating and overheating of the interior of the head-up display device is not present.
- the transparent cover can easily become dirty and damaged.
- the transparent cover becomes soiled, it must be cleaned frequently and carefully, which can cause scratching of the transparent cover, which may disturb the projection of the image to be displayed.
- the object of the invention is therefore to provide a display device of the aforementioned type, which results in a simple construction to an at least largely harmless representation of the information to be displayed.
- Recess on the side facing away from the head-up display device of the transparent cover by a between a the closure closing position and an opening position which opens the recess can be closed.
- the protective cover is opaque or partially transparent, the components of the head-up display device located under the housing wall are also protected against heating caused by solar radiation and the resulting defects.
- the protective cover may be formed flat and guided displaceably between the closed position and the open position.
- an instrument panel of the motor vehicle so that light passing through the recesses light beams may reflect on the inner surface of the windshield of the motor ⁇ vehicle and to alternate forming image by the driver are virtually perceived in the front region of the motor vehicle.
- the protective cover is driven by a motor, in particular by an electric motor between the closed position and the open position movable.
- An opening of the protective cover takes place only in an operation of the head-up display device, when the protective cover is driven to be movable in activating the head-up display device in the open position and when deactivating the head-up display device in the closed position.
- the protective cover can be designed to be rigid in area.
- the protective cover may consist of slats which are connected to each other in a pivotable manner about their longitudinal edges.
- the protective cover For a smooth movement of the protective cover, it leads, if the lamellae have in the longitudinal direction on both sides projecting guide pins which protrude into the guide ⁇ grooves, with a clamping in the guide grooves is particularly well avoided if the guide pins have a circular cross-section.
- the slats on one longitudinal side one or more extending in the direction of movement of the protective cover hook elements with hook openings round cross ⁇ section have, extending from the hook openings transversely to the direction of movement directed insertion openings, wherein in the area of the Hook elements opposite longitudinal side of the slats transverse to the direction of movement of Schutzabde- Cushion extending hinge pins are arranged, which are encompassed by the hook elements of an adjacent lamella forming a hinge connection.
- the hinge pins have a rectangular cross section, wherein the long sides of the rectangular cross section in Be ⁇ wegungscardi the protective cover and have a diameter of the hook openings approximately corresponding length and wherein the short sides of the rectangular cross-section have a length which is equal to or smaller than that
- the lamellae can be easily connected together in the disassembled state by mating.
- the slats are permanently connected with each other.
- the hinge pins can protrude on both sides in the longitudinal extension direction of the slats and protrude into the guide grooves.
- the protective cover consists of a flexible cover, on which at a distance from one another a number ⁇ are arranged transversely to the direction of movement of the protective cover extending stiffening ribs.
- stiffening ribs are made of plastic and are arranged by injection molding on the cover.
- the protective cover can easily have the protective cover one or more extending in the direction of movement racks, in which the teeth of a or several of a cover drive rotatably antreibba ⁇ rer drive pinion engage.
- a uniform, avoiding tilting force application of the protective cover is achieved when in each case in the lateral edge region of the protective cover a rack is arranged, in each of which engages a drive pinion.
- roller is biased in its direction of curl by a spring, in particular by a torsion spring, this leads to a uniform application of force to the slats, which contributes to a reduction in noise when opening and closing the protective cover.
- the guide pins and / or the hinge pins or the stiffening ribs may form the teeth of the racks.
- the cleaning strip may be a particular feinfaseri ⁇ ge brush strip or aufwei ⁇ sen a microfiber surface, which is on the transparent cover in Appendix.
- the cleaning strip is preferably arranged on a lamella or on a stiffening rib. Is the cleaning strip arranged in an end region in BEWE ⁇ supply direction of the protective cover, a complete cleaning of the transparent cover is carried out at each opening and closing movement of the protective cover.

- the display device illustrated in Figures 1 to 8d comprises a frame 1 to be placed on a dashboard ei ⁇ nes motor vehicle, which has a recess. 2
- a head-up display device 3 is arranged, is reflected by an image to be displayed through the recess 2 through a windshield, not shown re ⁇ .
- the driver of the motor vehicle then sees this image virtually hovering at the height of the windshield of the motor vehicle.
- the recess 2 is closed by a transparent cover 4, through which the light rays of the reflected image pass.
- the recess 2 can be closed by a roller-type flexible protective cover 5, which is displaceably guided at two of their mutually parallel edge regions at the edges of the recess 2.
- the protective cover 6 consists of hinged around their longitudinal edges interconnected, opaque lamellae. 7
- the lamellae 7 have at their one longitudinal side in each case in the end region of its longitudinal extent projecting hook elements 8 with a longitudinal extension of the lamellae 7 parallel, continuous hook opening 9 round cross-section.
- joint pins 12 are arranged on the longitudinal side of the lamellae opposite the hook elements 8, which are covered by the plate-like upper side 13 of the lamellae 7.
- the hinge pins 12 extending parallel to the hook openings 9 have a rectangular cross-section whose long sides 14, which are approximately parallel to the upper side 13 of the lamellae 7, have a length which corresponds to the diameter of the hook opening 9.

- the two slats 7 to be joined together are positioned at right angles to one another and the hook elements 8 of a slat 7 are pushed with their insertion openings 10 over the hinge pins 12 of the other slat 7. Subsequently, the slats 7 are pivoted in the same direction extending.
- the lamellae 7 can no longer detach from one another.
- the hinge pins 12 protrude over the lateral ends of the lamellae 7 and protrude as well as parallel to the hinge pins ⁇ 12 arranged on the end faces of the lamellae 7 guide pin 16 with circular cross-section in the guide grooves 6 inside.
- the drive shaft 18 extends below the frame 1 parallel to the longitudinal extension of the slats 7 and carries at its one end a gear 19, in turn, engages a rotatable by an electric motor 22 screw driving a Abdeck- ckungsantriebs 21.
- a rotatably gelager ⁇ te roller is parallel to the drive shaft 18 below the frame 1 23 is arranged to which the one end of the ckung Schutzabde- 5 is fixed and which is biased by a torsion spring 24 in the winding.
- a brush strip 25 is arranged on the lamella 7 at the end of the protective cover 5 opposite the roller 23.
- the brush strip 25 is located on the transparent cover 4 facing side of the blade 7, extends over the entire length and is on the transparent cover 4 in Appendix.
- FIGS. 9 to 11 show a further embodiment of the protective cover.
- This consists of a Flexib ⁇ len cover 26 on one side of which a plurality are arranged to ⁇ mutually parallel stiffening ribs 27 made of plastic by insert molding of the cover film 26th
- stiffening ribs 27 taper in their cross-section towards their free end, so that between the stiffening ribs 27 V-shaped gaps 28 are formed.
- gaps 28 allow on the one hand a flexibility in the one direction of extension of the protective cover 5, on the other hand, they can also be used to engage the teeth of the drive pinion 17.
