[0001] この発明は、例えば電源入力端子或いは負荷と 2次電池との間で電流の入出力を 双方向に切り替えて行うことの出来る双方向性コンバータ、並びに、このような双方向 性コンバータを備えた電子装置に関する。 背景技術
[0002] 以前より、外部電源を入力して 2次電池に充電を行ったり、 2次電池から負荷へ電 源供給を行ったりするのに、種々の双方向性コンバータが用いられている。
[0003] また、本願発明に関連する従来技術として、双方向で降圧動作や昇圧動作が可能 な DC/DCコンバータにつ!/、ての開示が特許文献 1になされて!/、る。

発明が解決しょうとする課題
[0004] 例えば、双方向性コンバータを用いて 2次電池に充電を行ったり 2次電池から電力 供給を行わせるのに、入力電源の電圧値が所定値に予め定められていたり、 2次電 池から電源供給を行う際の電池電圧もある程度狭レ、範囲に限られて!/、るような場合 には、双方向性コンバータを予め定められた降圧動作や昇圧動作が行えるように設 計すれば良い。
[0005] しかしながら、様々な電圧値の電源入力を可能としたり、 2次電池からの電源供給 を規定された最低充電率までフルに行えるようにするには、様々な入力電圧と出力 電圧の組み合わせに柔軟に対応することの出来る双方向性コンバータを用意する必 要がある。
[0006] また、双方向性コンバータを様々な条件で様々な制御モードを切り替えて動作させ る場合には、何らの工夫もなく切替制御を行ったのでは、電力の変換効率が悪くなつ たり、切替時に安定した動作が得られないなどの問題が発生することがある。
[0007] この発明の目的は、様々な条件に適応できる柔軟性を有し、高効率な動作や制御
モードの安定的な切替が可能な双方向性コンバータを提供することにある。
[0008] この発明の他の目的は、上記のような双方向性コンバータにより、様々な条件の電 源供給を受けて効率良く動作することの出来る電子装置を提供することにある。 課題を解決するための手段
[0009] 本発明は、上記目的を達成するため、一方の入出力端子と他方の入出力端子との 間に直列に接続されたリアタトルと、前記リアタトルの一方の端子と前記一方の入出 力端子との間に直列接続された第 1スィッチ、および、前記リアタトルの一方の端子と 基準電位点との間に接続された第 2スィッチと、前記リア外ルの他方の端子と前記他 方の入出力端子との間に直列接続された第 3スィッチ、および、前記リアタトルの他 方の端子と基準電位点との間に接続された第 4スィッチと、前記第 1〜第 4スィッチの スイッチング制御を行うスイッチング制御回路とを備え、前記スィッチング制御回路の スイッチング制御によって一方の入出力端子から他方の入出力端子への昇降圧出 力と、他方の入出力端子から一方の入出力端子への昇降圧出力とが可能にされて V、る双方向性コンバータである。
[0010] また、前記スイッチング制御回路は、前記第 1スィッチおよび第 2スィッチをスィッチ ング動作させて一方の入出力端子から他方の入出力端子へ降圧出力を行う第 1降 圧モードと、前記第 3スィッチおよび第 4スィッチをスイッチング動作させて一方の入 出力端子から他方の入出力端子へ昇圧出力を行う第 1昇圧モードと、前記第 1スイツ チと第 4スィッチをオンして前記リアタトルに電流を流した後、これらをオフする一方、 前記第 2スィッチと第 3スィッチをオンして電流を出力させる第 1昇降圧モードと、前記 第 3スィッチおよび第 4スィッチをスイッチング動作させて他方の入出力端子から一方 の入出力端子へ降圧出力を行う第 2降圧モードと、前記第 1スィッチおよび第 2スイツ チをスイッチング動作させて他方の入出力端子から一方の入出力端子へ昇圧出力 を行う第 2昇圧モードと、前記第 2スィッチと第 3スィッチをオンして前記リアタトルに電 流を流した後、これらをオフする一方、前記第 1スィッチと第 4スィッチをオンして電流 を出力させる第 2昇降圧モードとの各制御モードを切り替えて実行可能にしたもので ある。
[0011] このような手段によれば、降圧から昇圧までほぼ連続的に電圧変換が可能であり、
入力電圧や出力電圧の様々な組み合わせに柔軟に対応することが出来る。すなわ ち、昇圧モードと降圧モードだけだと、入力電圧と出力電圧とが近い電圧となる範囲 で高効率な動作や安定した動作が得られないが、上記の昇降圧モードによりこのよう な範囲でも効率良く安定した動作が得られる。
[0012] 望ましくは、入出力間の損失を算出する損失算出回路 (24)と、複数の前記制御モ ードで試行を行って損失の低くなる制御モードを割り出す試行手段(24)と、該試行 手段により割り出された損失の低くなる制御モードを試行時の入出力電圧や電流に 対応させて記憶する記憶手段(24)とを備え、前記記憶手段に記憶された内容に基 づレ、て各制御モードの切り替えが行われるように構成すると良レ、。
[0013] また望ましくは、入出力間の損失を算出する損失算出回路 (24)と、複数の前記制 御モードで試行を行って損失の低くなる制御モードを割り出す試行手段(24)とを備 え、入力側又は出力側の電圧又は電流が所定量変化した場合に、一旦、前記試行 手段により損失の低くなる制御モードを割り出す処理を実行し、その後、この処理で 割り出した制御モードの動作に移行するように構成すると良い。

[0015] さらに望ましくは、入力電圧を昇圧して出力する場合に、一旦、降圧モードで動作さ せてから、昇圧モードに切り替えて所要の電圧を出力するように構成すると良い。
[0016] また望ましくは、入力電圧を昇圧して出力する場合に、順に、降圧モード、昇降圧 モードで動作させてから、昇圧モードに切り替えて所要の電圧を出力するように構成 すると良い。
[0017] このような構成により、高い電圧を出力するときに徐々に電圧を上げて所要の電圧 にすることが出来るので、例えば負荷側に容量素子などがある場合に、大きな突入 電流が流れるのを防止して、安定したスタート動作を得ることが出来る。
[0018] さらに望ましくは、電荷を蓄積する容量素子(25)と、該容量素子から出力側へ電 流を出力させたり遮断したりするスィッチ回路(26)とを備え、前記制御モードの切替 を行う際に前記スィッチ回路を動作させて前記容量素子から出力側へ電流を供給さ せるように構成すると良い。

[0020] また、本発明は、上記目的を達成するため、電源入力端子と 2次電池との間に上述 した双方向性コンバータを備え、当該双方向性コンバータを介してシステム回路に動 作電圧が供給されるように構成された電子装置において、前記双方向性コンバータ には、前記システム回路の動作状態を表わすステータス信号が送信され、このステー タス信号に基づいて前記双方向性コンバータの制御モードが切り替えられるようにし たものである。

発明の効果
[0026] 本発明の双方向性コンバータによれば、様々な条件に適応して柔軟に電圧変換が 可能であり、更に、常に高い変換効率で動作し、また、制御モードの安定的な切替を 行うことが出来るという効果がある。
[0027] また、本発明の電子装置によれば、様々な電源供給を受けてシステム動作を行つ たり、或いは、 2次電池に蓄電したり、或いは、 2次電池からの電力により動作すること が可能であり、さらに、その間の電圧変換も高効率に行うことができ、また、状態の変 化時にも安定した制御モードの切り替えを行うことが出来るという効果がある。

図 1は、本発明の第 1実施形態の双方向性コンバータを備えた電子装置の構成を 示すブロック図である。
[0032] この実施形態の電子装置 10は、例えば携帯電話などであり、 2次電池 E2を内蔵し 、外部電源電圧 E1の供給を受けて電子装置 10としての動作をしたり、 2次電池 E2に 充電を行ったり、或は、外部電源電圧 E1の供給がないときに 2次電池 E2の放電によ り電子装置 10としての動作を行うように構成されたものである。外部電源電圧 E1は、 例えば、電源入力端子 TO, T1に接続/切断可能にされた ACアダプターなどにより 供給される。

図 7は、本発明の第 3実施形態の電子装置の構成を示すブロック図である。
[0062] 第 3実施形態の電子装置 10Bは、電源供給先のシステム回路 (負荷) 100の接続 位置を第 1実施形態と異ならせたものである。そして、外部電源電圧 E1と 2次電池 E 2の両方から電圧入力があるときに、何れか一方から選択的にシステム回路 100へ電 原供給させることを可倉 としたあのである。
[0063] この実施形態の双方向性コンバータは、図 7に示すように、リアタトル L1の両端から それぞれ第 5と第 6のスィッチ S5, S6を介して電源線を設け、これをシステム回路 10 0に接続したものである。また、システム回路 100への出力電圧を検出する電圧検出 回路 213を設け、これを SW制御回路 21にフィードバックさせている。その他の構成 は、第 1実施形態のものと同様である。

[0065] このような構成の双方向性コンバータによれば、例えば、 2次電池 E2側に接続され た第 3スィッチ S3をオフとし、システム回路 100側に接続された第 6スィッチ S6をスィ ツチング動作させることで、外部電源電圧 E1を入力としシステム回路 (負荷) 100側を 出力とした双方向性コンバータの動作を得ることが出来る。
[0066] 例えば、昇圧モードであれば、図 8 (A)に示すように、電流 II , 12が交互に流れるよ うに、第 4スィッチ S4と第 6スィッチ S6とをスイッチング動作させるとともに、第 1スイツ チ S1を常時オンに、その他のスィッチ S2, S3を常時オフとすることで、外部電源電 圧 E1を昇圧してシステム回路 100に出力することが出来る。その他、図 2 (A)〜図 2 ( D)に示したような降圧モードや昇降圧モードも、システム回路 100側を出力として同 様に実現可能である。

ム回路 100側に接続された第 5スィッチ S5をスイッチング動作させることで、 2次電池 E2側を入力としシステム回路 (負荷) 100側を出力とした双方向性コンバータの動作 が得られる。
[0068] 例えば、昇圧モードであれば、図 8 (B)に示すように、第 2スィッチ S2と第 5スィッチ S 5のスイッチング動作により、電流 II , 12が交互に流れるようにして、 2次電池 E2の 電圧を昇圧してシステム回路 100に出力することが出来る。その他、図 2 (A)〜図 2 ( D)に示したように、降圧モードや昇降圧モードも 2次電池 E2を入力、システム回路 1 00側を出力として同様に実現可能である。
[0069] 各スイッチング制御モードにおけるスイッチング制御は、電圧検出回路 213からの 信号に基づき SW制御回路 21によりパルス変調等の制御がなされ、それにより、所要 の電圧をシステム回路 100に供給することが出来る。
[0070] 第 5と第 6のスィッチ S5, S6は、例えば MOSFETなど力、ら構成できる力 システム 回路 100側が入力となることはないので、第 5と第 6のスィッチ S5, S6をダイオード力、 ら構成することも出来る。

[0072] この実施形態の双方向性コンバータでは、第 1実施形態と同様に、外部電源電圧 E 1の入力の有無やその電圧値、 2次電池 E2の電圧値、システム回路 100の動作モー ドを表わすステータス信号が、マイクロコンピュータ 24によりそれぞれ認識されて、双 方向性コンバータのスイッチング制御モードが適宜選定される。
[0073] さらに、この実施形態では、第 1実施形態と異なる制御処理として、 7火のようなスイツ チング制御モードの選定処理がなされるようになつている。すなわち、 2次電池 E2の 電圧が既定値ある状態で外部電源電圧 E1の入力があり、システム回路 100への電 力供給を 2次電池 E2側と外部電源電圧 E1側との両方で行える状況になった場合に 、外部電源電圧 E1を優先的に使用してシステム回路 100への電力供給を行うように したものである。
[0074] 詳細には、図 9のフローチャートに示すように、システム回路 (負荷) 100に電流供 給している状態で (ステップ J21)、電源入力に変化があってマイクロコンピュータ 24
がそれを検出したら(ステップ J22)、先ず、マイクロコンピュータ 24内で電源入力に応 じた分岐処理を行う(ステップ J23)。
[0075] そして、外部電源電圧 E1と 2次電池 E2の電圧入力がありと判断されたら、先ず、外 部電源電圧 E1が既定電圧以上のものか判別し (ステップ J24)、既定電圧以上であ れば、 2次電池 E2側からの放電を行わせる第 3スィッチ S3をオフさせ(ステップ J25) 、外部電源電圧 E1を入力とする第 1スィッチ S1をオンさせて (ステップ J26)、外部電 源電圧 E1を入力とするスイッチング制御モードで動作するように SW制御回路 21に モード切替信号を出力する (ステップ J27)。
[0076] 一方、ステップ J24の判別処理で、外部電源電圧 E1が既定電圧以下だと判別され たら、外部電源電圧 E1から入力を行わせる第 1スィッチ S 1をオフさせ (ステップ J28) 、 2次電池 E2から放電を行わせる第 3スィッチ S3をオンさせて(ステップ J29)、 2次電 池 E2を入力とするスイッチング制御モードで動作するように SW制御回路 21にモー ド切替信号を出力する (ステップ J30)。
[0077] そして、次に、電源入力やシステムステータスの変化が発生するまで、このスィッチ ング制御モードでの電流供給を継続する。
[0078] このような制御処理により、外部電源電圧 E1が使用できるときには、 2次電池 E2よ り外部電源電圧 E1が優先的に使用されてシステムが動作するので、外部電源電圧 E1の入力が切断されてからの 2次電池 E2による動作を長時間もたせることが出来る

[0079] なお、この実施形態の双方向性コンバータにおいては、外部電源電圧 E1の入力 があったときに、第 3スィッチ S3のオンオフによる 2次電池 E2側への入力と、第 5スィ ツチ S5のオンオフによるシステム回路 100側への入力とを、交互に切り替えて実行さ せることで、システム回路 100の動作と 2次電池 E2への充電とを並行して行わせるこ とも出来る。
[0080] 以上、本発明を実施する最良の形態を説明してきたが、本発明は、上記第 1〜第 3 の実施形態に限られるものではなぐ例えば、具体的な回路構成や制御方式など実 施形態で示した細部等は発明の趣旨を逸脱しない範囲で適宜変更可能である。 産業上の利用可能性
この発明は、例えば電源入力端子或いは負荷と 2次電池との間で電流の入出力を 双方向に切り替えて行うことの出来る双方向性コンバータ、並びに、このような双方向 性コンバータを備えた電子装置に利用可能である。
Claims
[1] 一方の入出力端子と他方の入出力端子との間に直列に接続されたリアタトルと、 前記リアタトルの一方の端子と前記一方の入出力端子との間に直列接続された第 1 スィッチ、および、前記リアタトルの一方の端子と基準電位点との間に接続された第 2 スィッチと、
前記リアタトルの他方の端子と前記他方の入出力端子との間に直列接続された第 3 スィッチ、および、前記リアタトルの他方の端子と基準電位点との間に接続された第 4 スィッチと、
前記第 1〜第 4スィッチのスイッチング制御を行うスイッチング制御回路とを備え、 前記スイッチング制御回路のスイッチング制御によって一方の入出力端子から他方 の入出力端子への昇降圧出力と、他方の入出力端子から一方の入出力端子への昇 降圧出力とが可能にされていることを特徴とする双方向性コンバータ。
[2] 前記スイッチング制御回路は、
前記第 1スィッチおよび第 2スィッチをスイッチング動作させて一方の入出力端子か ら他方の入出力端子へ降圧出力を行う第 1降圧モードと、
前記第 3スィッチおよび第 4スィッチをスイッチング動作させて一方の入出力端子か ら他方の入出力端子へ昇圧出力を行う第 1昇圧モードと、
前記第 1スィッチと第 4スィッチをオンして前記リアタトルに電流を流した後、これらを オフする一方、前記第 2スィッチと第 3スィッチをオンして電流を出力させる第 1昇降 圧モードと、
前記第 3スィッチおよび第 4スィッチをスイッチング動作させて他方の入出力端子か ら一方の入出力端子へ降圧出力を行う第 2降圧モードと、
前記第 1スィッチおよび第 2スィッチをスイッチング動作させて他方の入出力端子か ら一方の入出力端子へ昇圧出力を行う第 2昇圧モードと、
前記第 2スィッチと第 3スィッチをオンして前記リアタトルに電流を流した後、これらを オフする一方、前記第 1スィッチと第 4スィッチをオンして電流を出力させる第 2昇降 圧モードと、
の各制御モードを切り替えて実行可能であることを特徴とする請求項 1記載の双方
向性コンバータ。
[3] 入出力間の損失を算出する損失算出回路と、
複数の前記制御モードで試行を行つて損失の低くなる制御モ一ドを割り出す試行 手段と、
該試行手段により割り出された損失の低くなる制御モードを試行時の入出力電圧 や電流に対応させて記憶する記憶手段と、
を備え、
前記記憶手段に記憶された内容に基づいて各制御モードの切り替えが行われるこ とを特徴とする請求項 2記載の双方向性コンバータ。
[4] 入出力間の損失を算出する損失算出回路と、
複数の前記制御モードで試行を行つて損失の低くなる制御モ一ドを割り出す試行 手段とを備え、
入力側又は出力側の電圧又は電流が所定量変化した場合に、一旦、前記試行手 段により損失の低くなる制御モードを割り出す処理を実行し、その後、この処理で割り 出した制御モードの動作に移行することを特徴とする請求項 2記載の双方向性コン バータ。
[5] 入力電圧を昇圧して出力する場合に、一旦、降圧モードで動作させてから、昇圧モ ードに切り替えて所要の電圧を出力するように構成されていることを特徴とする請求 項 1〜4の何れか 1項に記載の双方向性コンバータ。
[6] 入力電圧を昇圧して出力する場合に、順に、降圧モード、昇降圧モードで動作させ てから、昇圧モードに切り替えて所要の電圧を出力するように構成されていることを特 徴とする請求項 1〜4の何れ力、 1項に記載の双方向性コンバータ。
[7] 電荷を蓄積する容量素子と、
該容量素子から出力側へ電流を出力させたり遮断したりするスィッチ回路と、 を備え、
前記制御モードの切替を行う際に前記スィッチ回路を動作させて前記容量素子か ら出力側へ電流を供給させることを特徴とする請求項 1〜6の何れ力、 1項に記載の双 方向性コンバータ。
[8] 電源入力端子と 2次電池との間に請求項 1〜7の何れ力、 1項に記載の双方向性コン バータを備え、当該双方向性コンバータを介してシステム回路に動作電圧が供給さ れるように構成された電子装置において、
前記双方向性コンバータには、前記システム回路の動作状態を表わすステータス 信号が送信され、このステータス信号に基づ!/、て前記双方向性コンバータの制御モ ードが切り替えられることを特徴とする電子装置。
[9] 前記リアタトルの一端と他端とからそれぞれスィッチ又はダイオードを介して前記シ ステム回路に電源が供給されるように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項 8記載 の電子装置。
[10] 前記双方向性コンバータへ前記電源入力端子と前記 2次電池との両方から電圧が 入力されている場合に、前記 2次電池側よりも前記電源入力端子側の入力に基づく 前記システム回路への電源供給が優先的に行われるように構成されていることを特 徴とする請求項 9記載の電子装置。
