背景技術
[0002] パーソナルコンピュータやオーディオ 'ビデオ機器等を用いて利用されるデジタルコ ンテンッとして、音楽データ、映像データおよびソフトウェア等がある。これらのデジタ ルコンテンツの著作権を保護するための技術 (以下、「著作権保護技術」という。）とし て DRM (Digital Rights Management)が知られており、 DRMは、暗号化や認証とい つた技術に加え、利用回数や有効期限を管理する技術を含んでいる。
[0003] このような著作権保護技術においては、著作権者力 権利を取得することによって デジタルコンテンツの利用が可能となり、不正な複製や利用を制限される。また、著 作権保護技術は、著作権を主張するために用いられるのに限らず、個人が所有する デジタルコンテンツを他人の利用力 保護する目的で不正な複製や利用を制限する ためにも用いられる。このようなデジタルコンテンツを複製および利用するための制限 は、「利用権」と呼ばれている。
[0004] この利用権を管理する従来の利用権の管理装置として、例えば、利用権を管理す るサーバが利用者ごとにデジタルコンテンツの利用権の状態を把握し、その状態を 基にして利用権の状態を利用者に通知することによって、利用者が意識的に記憶ま たは確認しなければならない利用権の制限を利用者が忘れてしまうことによりデジタ ルコンテンツを利用できなくなるといった問題を回避するものがある（例えば、特許文 献 1参照)。

[0006] 本発明は、従来の課題を解決するためになされたもので、デジタルコンテンツの利 用権を発行するサーバに代わって利用権を発行するサーバに負担をかけずに、利 用権の状態を含むデジタルコンテンッを利用するための利用情報を適切に通知する ことができるデジタルコンテンツ管理装置を提供することを目的とする。
課題を解決するための手段

[0094] このような本実施の形態のデジタルコンテンツ管理装置 30によれば、ネットワーク 1 2に接続された各利用者から、利用者ごとに利用情報の参照を制限することが可能 であり、さらに、デジタルコンテンツを利用する利用者ごとにデジタルコンテンツの利 用履歴、利用状況を管理し、通知することが可能である。さらに、利用情報管理部 3 に、利用情報として、利用者の年齢、デジタルコンテンツの所有者であるか否かとい つた情報を追加することにより、デジタルコンテンッの利用をより詳細に制限すること も可能である。

産業上の利用可能性
[0097] 以上のように、本発明にかかるデジタルコンテンツ管理装置は、利用権を発行する サーバに負担をかけずに、利用権の状態を含むデジタルコンテンツを利用するため の利用情報を適切に利用者に通知することができるという効果を有し、例えば、デジ タルコンテンツの利用権を発行するサーバに代わって前記デジタルコンテンツを管 理するデジタルコンテンツを管理するデジタルコンテンツ管理装置等として有用であ り、ノヽードディスクレコーダーやパーソナノレコンピュータ、ポータブノレミュージックプレ ィャ一等のデジタルコンテンッを扱う機器全般に適用できる。

Claims

請求の範囲
[1] デジタルコンテンツの利用権を発行するサーバに代わって前記デジタルコンテンツ を管理するデジタルコンテンツ管理装置にぉ 、て、
前記デジタルコンテンツを利用するための少なくとも一部を表す通知情報を利用者 に通知するための通知条件を管理する通知条件管理手段と、
前記通知条件を満たす場合に前記利用者に前記通知情報を通知する利用情報 通知手段とを備えたことを特徴とするデジタルコンテンツ管理装置。
[2] 前記利用情報通知手段は、定期的に前記通知情報を通知することを特徴とする請 求項 1に記載のデジタルコンテンツ管理装置。
[3] 前記利用情報通知手段は、予め指定された日時に前記通知情報を通知することを 特徴とする請求項 1に記載のデジタルコンテンツ管理装置。
[4] 前記利用情報通知手段は、前記利用情報が変更された場合に前記通知情報を通 知することを特徴とする請求項 1に記載のデジタルコンテンツ管理装置。
[5] 前記利用情報は、対応するデジタルコンテンツの利用期限を含み、
前記利用情報通知手段は、現在日時力 前記利用期限までの残期間が予め設定 された閾値以下である場合に、前記通知情報を通知することを特徴とする請求項 1に 記載のデジタルコンテンツ管理装置。
[6] 前記通知情報は、前記利用情報を表現する自然言語に加えて、前記利用情報を 補足するオプション情報とを含み、前記自然言語と機械が解読可能な所定の識別子 との組合せとして構成されることを特徴とする請求項に記載のデジタルコンテンツ管 理装置。
[7] 前記通知情報は、該通知情報に別途定められた複数の定型文章から該通知情報 に一致する定型文章を選択するための判別コードを含むことを特徴とする請求項 1に 記載のデジタルコンテンツ管理装置。
[8] 前記通知情報は、前記利用情報に関連する関連情報をネットワークを介して取得 するためのアドレス情報を含むことを特徴とする請求項 1に記載のデジタルコンテン ッ管理装置。
[9] ネットワークを介した通信を行うネットワーク接続手段を備え、 前記利用情報通知手段は、前記ネットワーク接続手段を用いて前記通知情報を前 記ネットワークを介して閲覧可能に公開し、前記利用者の端末によるネットワークを介 した要求に応じて前記通知情報を前記利用者の端末に送信することによって、前記 利用者に前記通知情報を通知することを特徴とする請求項 1に記載のデジタルコン テンッ管理装置。
[10] 前記利用情報通知手段は、前記通知情報を圧縮することを特徴とする請求項 9に 記載のデジタルコンテンツ管理装置。
[11] 前記利用情報通知手段は、前記通知情報を暗号化することを特徴とする請求項 9 に記載のデジタルコンテンツ管理装置。
[12] 利用者を識別する利用者識別手段を備え、前記通知条件は利用者の利用を制限 する利用制限情報を含み、前記通知手段は、前記利用者識別手段によって識別さ れた利用者が前記利用制限情報を満たす場合に前記通知情報を通知することを特 徴とする請求項 1に記載のデジタルコンテンツ管理装置。
[13] 利用者を識別する利用者識別手段と前記利用者の利用状況情報を保持する利用 者管理手段を備え、前記通知情報は前記利用者の前記利用状況情報を含むことを 特徴とする請求項 1に記載のデジタルコンテンツ管理装置。
[14] 機器を識別する機器識別手段を備え、前記通知条件は機器の利用を制限する利 用制限情報を含み、前記通知手段は、前記機器識別手段によって識別された機器 が前記利用制限情報を満たす場合に前記通知情報を通知することを特徴とする請 求項 1に記載のデジタルコンテンツ管理装置。
[15] デジタルコンテンッを利用するための利用情報の少なくとも一部を表す通知情報を 利用者に通知するための通知条件を管理する通知条件管理ステップと、
前記通知条件を満たす場合に前記利用者に前記通知情報を通知する利用情報 通知ステップとをコンピュータに実行させることを特徴とするデジタノレコンテンツを管 理するためのデジタルコンテンツ管理プログラム。
[16] 前記利用情報通知ステップは、定期的に前記通知情報を通知することを特徴とす る請求項 15に記載のデジタルコンテンツ管理プログラム。
[17] 前記利用情報は、対応するデジタルコンテンツの利用期限を含み、 前記利用情報通知手段は、現在日時力 前記利用期限までの残期間が予め設定 された閾値以下である場合に、前記通知情報を通知することを特徴とする請求項 15 に記載のデジタルコンテンツ管理プログラム。
デジタルコンテンッを利用するための利用情報の少なくとも一部を表す通知情報を 利用者に通知するための通知条件を管理する通知条件管理手段と、ネットワークに 接続し、前記ネットワークに接続して外部端末との通信を行うネットワーク接続手段と 、前記通知条件を満たす場合に前記利用者に前記通知情報を生成する利用情報 生成手段とを備えたデジタルコンテンツの利用権を発行するサーバに代わってデジ タルコンテンツを管理するデジタルコンテンツ管理装置と、ネットワークに接続し、前 記ネットワークに接続して外部端末との通信を行うネットワーク接続部と、前記ネットヮ ークを介して前記デジタルコンテンツ管理装置で生成された前記通知情報を取得し 、前記通知情報から利用情報を抽出する情報抽出部と、前記利用情報を出力する 情報出力部とを備えた情報取得端末とから構成されるデジタルコンテンツ管理システ ム„
