[0001] 本発明は、照明装置およびこの照明装置を備えたアウターミラーに関し、特に、自 動車等の車両に搭載され、足元照明等として使用するのに適した照明装置およびこ の照明装置を備えたアウターミラーに関するものである。
背景技術
[0002] 従来、自動車等の車両のアウターミラーにおいて、夜間の暗闇時等における足元 確認を行うための照明装置が設けられたものが知られている(例えば、特開平 8— 32 4342号公報の段落 0013〜0016および図 1を参照)。
このアウターミラーに設けられた照明装置では、ランプがアウターミラーのミラーべ ースに取り付けられており、車体の側方に突出して設けられるアウターミラーの取付 構造を利用して、車体側方の路面をアウターミラー力も照らすことができ、足元照明 を行うことができるようになって!/、る。
[0003] また、アウターミラーのミラーハウジングに照明装置としてのランプを設け、車両の側 方や後方をアウターミラー力 照らすようにしたものも知られている(例えば、特開昭 6 1— 188242号公報の第 2頁右上欄第 17行目〜第 3頁左上欄第 8行目、第 1図およ び第 2図や米国特許第 5497306号明細書を参照)。
[0004] さらに、このような技術分野において、アウターミラーのハウジングから、そのミラー 面に向けて方向指示灯の点滅光を出射し、アウターミラーのミラー面を方向指示灯 の反射面として利用した技術も知られている(例えば、実公平 3— 22042号公報の第 1頁右欄第 2行目〜第 2頁左欄 3行目および図 1を参照)。
[0005] 前記した従来のアウターミラーにおける照明装置は、いずれも、ランプ等の光源か らの光を有効に利用するために、ランプ等の前方に広い開口部を有し、この開口部 全体をレンズで覆った構成となっていた。このため、必然的にレンズが大型化してし まい、照明装置のコンパクトィ匕を図ることができな力つた。特に、自動車等の車両のァ ウタ一ミラーでは、その内部における電装品等の高密度実装化が進んでおり、照明 装置における省スペース化の要望があった。
[0006] また、前記従来の照明装置では、いずれも、レンズ等を通じてランプ等の光源から の光が単に出射される構成となっていたため、車両側方等の路面に対して光が有効 に出射されにくぐまた、光の強度むら等を生じやすいという問題があった。
発明の開示
[0007] そこで、本発明者は、前記した従来技術の問題に対処すべく研究開発を進め、本 発明を創案するに至った。すなわち、光源力ゝらの光を有効に使用することができ、し 力も、コンパクトな形状とすることができる照明装置およびこの照明装置を備えたァゥ ターミラーを提供することが、本発明の一側面である。
[0008] より具体的には、本発明の一側面としての照明装置は、少なくとも一部が回転楕円 面からなり、第 1,第 2の焦点を有する反射面と、この反射面の前記第 1の焦点に配設 された光源と、前記第 2の焦点側に配設され前記光源からの光を出射する出射部と を備えた照明装置であって、前記反射面は少なくとも、前記光源からの光を前記第 1 の焦点側に戻す反射部を有しているとともに、前記出射部は、前記第 2の焦点または 前記第 2の焦点の前記第 1の焦点とは反対側となる位置に配設されていることを特徴 とする。
ここで、出射部とは、凸レンズ、凹レンズ、フライアイレンズ、平板状のガラス材、透 明なカバー等、光源力もの光を出射することのできるものを 、う。
また、反射部とは、第 2の焦点側から第 1の焦点側に光を戻す反射面が形成されて いるものであればよぐ第 2の焦点側に形成される回転楕円面、球面、その他の湾曲 面、平面等力も構成されたものをいう。なお、反射部としては、第 1の焦点側の回転楕 円面等に連続して設けられるものを含むほか、第 1の焦点側の回転楕円面等と間隔 を隔てて設けられるものを含む。
[0009] この照明装置によれば、反射面は、少なくとも一部が回転楕円面からなり、第 1,第 2の焦点を有するので、第 1の焦点に配設された光源から出た光は、第 2の焦点側に 配置された出射部を直接通過して出射する光路をたどるほか、反射面で反射して第 2の焦点を通過した後に出射部を通過する光路や、第 2の焦点を通過した後にさらに 反射面で反射して最終的に出射部を通過する光路をたどる。つまり、光源から出た 光のうち、第 2の焦点側(出射部側)の反射面に達した光は、反射されて第 1の焦点 の光源に集光した後 (戻った後)、第 1の焦点側の反射面に到達し、そこで、光源から 第 1の焦点側の反射面に直接到達した光とともに第 2の焦点に集光され、その後、出 射部を通過して出射される。
このように、この照明装置によれば、回転楕円面の特性を生力して、反射面で反射 して光源の後ろ側 (反出射部側)に回り込んだ光も有効に出射されるようになるので、 光源から出た光が無駄なく出射部力 出射されるという利点が得られる。したがって、 光源からの光を有効に使用することができ、照度の高い照明を行うことができる。
[0010] し力も、第 2の焦点に集光された後に出射部を通過して出射する光は、光源から直 接出射部を通過して出射される光と異なり、第 2の焦点を通過する際に角度を有した ものとなっているので、その分、拡がりを備えたものとなっている。したがって、広い範 囲の照明を行うことができる。また、前記のように、回転楕円面による特性によって、 光源からの光が有効に使用されるので、広い範囲を明るく照らすことができるという利 点ち得られる。
[0011] さらに、第 2の焦点に光源からの光を集光することができるので、従来のような大型 のレンズを用いる必要が無くなり、出射部にレンズを用いた場合に、レンズを小径ィ匕 することができる。これにより、照明装置をコンパクトな形状とすることができる。特に、 自動車のアウターミラーに設置される照明装置として使用した場合に、アウターミラー 内の狭いスペースにも良好に設置することができるようになる。しかも、使用するレン ズを小型化することができるので、アウターミラーの軽量ィ匕に寄与することができる。
[0012] また、出射部は、第 2の焦点または第 2の焦点の第 1の焦点とは反対側となる位置( 第 2の焦点の反光源側)に配設されているので、次のような作用効果が得られる。 すなわち、第 2の焦点に出射部を配設した場合には、第 2の焦点に集光される光を 直接的に出射部に通過させることができるようになり、光源から出た光がより無駄なく スムーズに出射部から出射されるようになる。したがって、光源からの光を有効に使 用することができ、照度の高い照明を行うことができる。このように、第 2の焦点に出射 部を配設すると、第 2の焦点に様々な角度をもって入射された光が出射部を通過す ることとなるので、光の出射角度は広角に設定されるようになる。つまり、広い範囲を 明るく照らしたい場合等に有効である。
[0013] また、第 2の焦点の側方等の反光源側となる位置に出射部を配設した場合には、 前記のように第 2の焦点に配設したときに比べて、第 2の焦点から反光源側に配設さ れた分、第 2の焦点に集光された光が全て出射部を通過することがなくなるので、出 射部を通じて出射される光の拡がりが抑えられるようになり、光の出射角度を狭く設 定することができる。したがって、スポット照明等を行う場合に有効である。なお、この 場合、第 2の焦点と出射部との間隔が広くなるにつれて、光の出射角度がより狭くな るよう〖こ設定することがでさる。
[0014] さらに、照明装置は、回転楕円面を有することで、光源と出射部との間に空間が形 成されることとなり、光源からの発熱を受けて出射部としてのレンズ等が壊れる(歪む) 等の不具合が生じにくい。
[0015] また、少なくとも一部が回転楕円面からなり、第 1,第 2の焦点を有する反射面と、こ の反射面の前記第 1の焦点に配設された光源と、前記第 2の焦点側に配設され前記 光源力もの光を出射する出射部とを備えた照明装置であって、前記出射部に凸レン ズが配設されるとともに、この凸レンズの焦点距離を f、前記第 1の焦点と第 2の焦点と の間隔を L,前記第 2の焦点と前記凸レンズとの間隔を Tとしたとき、式 fく (L+T) / 2で表される条件を満足する構成とするのがよい。
[0016] さらに、少なくとも一部が回転楕円面からなり、第 1,第 2の焦点を有する反射面と、 この反射面の前記第 1の焦点に配設された光源と、前記第 2の焦点側に配設され前 記光源力もの光を出射する出射部とを備えた照明装置であって、前記出射部に凹レ ンズが配設されるとともに、この凹レンズの焦点距離を f、前記第 1の焦点と第 2の焦 点との間隔を L,前記第 2の焦点と前記凸レンズとの間隔を Tとしたとき、式 f< (L +T) Z100で表される条件を満足する構成とするのがよい。
[0017] このように、凸レンズにおいては前記条件式 f< (L+T)Z2を満足するように構成 することにより、また、凹レンズにおいては前記条件式 fく - (L+T) ZlOOを満足す るように構成することにより、回転楕円面が形成される照明装置において、出射部を 通じて出射される光は、このようなレンズを用いない出射部を通じて出射される光に 比べて拡がりを備えたものとなる。しかも、出射部より出射される光は、回転楕円面の 特性を活力ゝして、反射面で反射して光源の後ろ側 (反出射部側)に回り込む光も有効 に出射されるようになるので、光源から出た光が無駄なく照射されるようになり、広い 範囲を明るく照らすことができる照明装置が得られる。
[0018] また、少なくとも一部が回転楕円面からなり、第 1,第 2の焦点を有する反射面と、こ の反射面の前記第 1の焦点に配設された光源と、前記第 2の焦点側に配設され前記 光源力もの光を出射する出射部とを備えた照明装置であって、前記出射部に凸レン ズまたは凹レンズが配設されるとともに、この凸レンズまたは凹レンズの焦点距離を f、 前記レンズの半径を r,前記レンズからの光が照射された照射面と前記レンズとの距 離を h,前記照射面における照射半径を Rとしたとき、凸レンズによるものが式 f=rh / (R+r)で表される条件を満足し、凹レンズによるものが式 f =rhZ (R-r)で表され る条件を満足する構成とするのがよい。ただし、前記照射半径 Rは 150く I R Iく 5 000 (mm)の範囲であり、また、前記レンズ半径 rは 5<r< 15 (mm)の範囲である。
[0019] このように、前記条件式 f=rhZ (R+r)または f=rhZ (R— r)を満足するように構 成することにより、前記したような回転楕円面の特性を活力した照明を、凸レンズまた は凹レンズの設置される高さ(凸レンズまたは凹レンズから照射面までの距離 h)に対 応した照射半径 (光の拡がり)となるように設定することができる。したがって、このよう な照明装置を用いることにより、例えば、自動車のアウターミラーに取り付けられる照 明として適用した場合おいて、アウターミラー下方周辺の路面を好適に照らすことが でき、夜間の自動車の乗り降り等に寄与する照明装置が得られる。
[0020] また、前記出射部は、前記第 2の焦点側において、回転楕円面の頂部に配設され ている構成とするのがよい。
[0021] このような照明装置によれば、回転楕円面から構成される反射面を有効に利用する ことができ、第 2の焦点に集光された光を効率よく出射部に通過させることができる。 したがって、光源力もの光が有効に使用されるようになり、広い範囲をより明るく照ら すことができるという利点が得られる。
[0022] さらに、前記反射面は、複数の回転楕円面の組み合わせや、回転楕円面および球 面の組み合わせにより形作られて 、る構成とするのがよ 、。
[0023] このような照明装置によれば、複数の回転楕円面を組み合わせたり、回転楕円面 および球面を組み合わせたりして反射面を構成することにより、例えば、短い光路で 光源からの光が第 2の焦点に対して集光するようにした反射面を形作ることもでき、ひ とつの回転楕円面で反射面を形成した場合に比べて、光源力もの光を出射部に有 効に集光させることができるという利点が得られる。
[0024] また、前記反射面を形作る複数の面と面との境界部分が、成形加工時の金型のつ なぎ目部分となる抜き勾配を付して形成されて ヽる構成とするのがよ ヽ。
[0025] このような照明装置によれば、反射面を形作る面と面との境界部分を、成形加工時 の金型のつなぎ目部分とすることにより、金型の抜き方向に対して、反射面が角度を もつようになり、これによつて、離型の際の抵抗が小さくなるようにすることができる。し たがって、離型作業に伴って反射面等に割れが発生し難くなり、高品質で生産性の よい照明装置が得られる。
[0026] さらに、前記反射面は金属蒸着または金属めつきにより形成される構成とするのが よぐこのような照明装置によれば、反射面を安価で高精度に製造することができる。
[0027] また、前記出射部に代えて、光の進行方向を変更する変更手段を設け、この変更 手段を経て出射された光の進行方向先に、前記出射部が配設されてなる構成とする のがよい。
[0028] このような照明装置によれば、光の出射方向を任意の方向に変更することができ、 所望の範囲、例えば、自動車等の車両のアウターミラーに組み込まれた照明装置に あっては、夜間の乗り降りの際の足元照明として好適な、車両のサイドドアの側方の 路面を照らすように設定することができる。しかも、変更手段を経て出射された光の進 行方向先に、出射部が配設されているので、変更手段を用いない通常の照明と略同 様に、所望の範囲を明るく照らすことができるという利点が得られる。
[0029] さらに、前記反射面を構成する前記回転楕円面は、前記光源に取り付けられたバ ルブの幅寸法と同じ力またはこれよりも幅広の寸法を備えてなる構成とするのがよい
[0030] このような照明装置によれば、反射面を利用して光源力 の光を第 2の焦点に集光 することができ、第 2の焦点に集光された光を出射部に通過させることができる。した がって、光源力 の光が有効に使用されるようになり、広い範囲を明るく照らすことが できるという利点が得られる。しカゝも、反射面を構成する回転楕円面は、バルブの幅 寸法と同じかまたはこれよりも幅広の寸法に形成されていればよいので、その分、照 明装置のスリムィ匕 (省スペースィ匕)を図ることができる。したがって、例えば、種々の電 装品が収納されて構成される自動車等の車両のアウターミラーに用いた場合に好適 なコンパクトな形状の照明装置が得られる。
[0031] また、本発明の一側面としてのアウターミラーは、前記した照明装置を備えたァウタ 一ミラーであって、後方視認用のミラーが設けられたミラーハウジングの下部に開口 部を形成し、この開口部に前記照明装置の前記出射部を臨ませた構成とするのがよ い。
[0032] このようなアウターミラーによれば、ミラーハウジングの下部に形成された開口部を 通じて、照明装置の出射部から光を出射することができ、アウターミラーの下方周辺 の路面を照らすことができる。これにより、夜間の暗闇においても乗り降り時等の足元 の確認を行うことができる。しかも、出射部から出射される光は、回転楕円面から構成 される反射面を有効に利用して集光されたものであるので、このようなアウターミラー によれば、アウターミラーの下方周辺であるドア近傍の路面の広い範囲を、より明るく 照らすことができるという利点が得られる。し力も、出射部に取り付けるレンズの種類 等の条件を変更することにより、光の拡がりが異なったものとなるようにすることができ 、様々なニーズに合わせた照明装置とすることができる。これにより、例えば、ァウタ 一ミラーの据付高さが車種ごとに異なっていても、これに柔軟に対応することができる

発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0036] 以下、添付図面を参照して、本発明の実施の形態を詳細に説明する。なお、説明 において、同一の要素には同一の符号を用い、重複する説明は省略する。
(第 1の実施の形態)
図 1は本発明の第 1の実施形態に係る照明装置を示す図で、 (a)は概略構成を示 す正面図、(b)は一部省略摸式断面図、図 2 (a)は本発明の第 1の実施形態に係る 照明装置の内部における光の反射を説明するための模式図、図 2 (b)は反射面が放 物線状とされた照明装置における模式図、図 3 (a) (b)は光の拡がりを示した模式図 、図 4は同じく光の拡がりを示した模式図である。
[0037] 図 1 (b)に示すように、本実施の形態の照明装置 1は、ケース 2と、光源としてのバル ブ 3と、出射部としてのレンズ 4とを備えており、バルブ 3から出た光力 ケース 2の内 面に形成された回転楕円面からなる反射面 Hで反射して、レンズ 4から出射される構 成となっている。
[0038] 以下、各部について詳細に説明する。
ケース 2は、ともに合成樹脂製力もなる第 1のケース (上ケース) 2Aと第 2のケース( 下ケース) 2Bとを、端面 2a, 2bで接合することにより構成されており、前記したように 、内面に回転楕円面力もなる反射面 Hが形成されるようになっている。上ケース 2Aお よび下ケース 2Bは、図示しない所定の金型を用いて形成され、それぞれの内面には 、反射面 Hを構成する第 1反射面 HIと、バルブ 3からの光を第 1の焦点 A側に戻す 反射部としての役割を備えた第 2反射面 H2とが形成されている。したがって、上ケー ス 2Aと下ケース 2Bとを端面(つなぎ目) 2a, 2bで接合すると、ケース 2の内部には、 回転楕円形の空間 Kが形成されることとなる。
[0039] 本実施の形態では、第 1反射面 HIおよび第 2反射面 H2が、高反射材料、例えば 、金属蒸着膜で形成されている。したがって、第 1反射面 HIおよび第 2反射面 H2に 入射する光は、高い反射率で反射されることとなる。なお、第 1反射面 HIおよび第 2 反射面 H2は、金属めつき、金属フィルム、金属粒子の印刷等、種々の方法を用いる こと〖こより高反射率とすることができる。
[0040] 上ケース 2Aの上壁には、貫通孔 2cが形成されており、この貫通孔 2cを通じてバル ブ 3のソケット 3aが挿入され、バルブ 3が上ケース 2Aに取り付けられている。上ケース 2Aに取り付けられた状態で、バルブ 3は、第 1反射面 HI側の第 1の焦点 Aに配設さ れるようになっている。
[0041] 下ケース 2Bの下壁には、貫通孔 2dが形成されており、この貫通孔 2dにレンズ 4が 取り付けられている。つまり、レンズ 4は、第 1,第 2の焦点 A, Bを結ぶ軸線 (光軸) O の延長線上において、第 2の焦点 B側における回転楕円面の頂部位置に配設されて おり、第 2の焦点 Bの第 1の焦点 Aとは反対側となる位置 (第 2の焦点 Bの反バルブ 3 側)に設けられている。本実施形態では、このようにレンズ 4を第 2の焦点 Bの反ノ レ ブ 3側に設けたが、図中一点差線で示すように、第 2の焦点 B側に近づけた位置 P1 に設けてもよぐさらに、図中破線で示すように、第 2の焦点 Bに重なる位置 P2に設け てもよい。また、これとは反対側となる第 2の焦点 B力 遠ざ力る位置 P3に設けてもよ い。
[0042] レンズ 4としては、フライアイレンズが用いられており、図示しない照明領域 (路面等 )にお 、て一様な照度分布を得ることができるようになって!/、る。
なお、図示はしないが、 2組の偏心させたフライアイレンズを用いることもでき、この 場合には、 1枚目のフライアイレンズで光束を分割し、それぞれの光束を 2枚目の偏 心したフライアイレンズにより出射領域 (例えば、後記する路面等)に導くように構成 する。これによつて、バルブ 3の輝度むらを分散させることができ、出射面において、 より一様な照度分布を得ることができるようになる。
[0043] 次に、このような照明装置 1による光の出射について説明する。
照明装置 1は、前記したように、回転楕円面からなる反射面 Hを有しており、その第 1の焦点 Aにバルブ 3が配設されているので、バルブ 3に通電して点灯させると、バル ブ 3から出た光は、図 1 (b)に破線で示すように、直接レンズ 4を通過して出射される 出射光 R1と、図 1 (b)に実線で示すように、反射面 Hに反射された後にレンズ 4を通 過して出射される出射光 R2とに大別される。
[0044] 出射光 R1は、前記したように、ノ レブ 3から直接レンズ 4を通過して出射されるので 、出射角度は狭いものとなり、スポット的な出射となる。
一方、出射光 R2は、第 1反射面 HIや第 2反射面 H2で反射した後に、第 2の焦点 Bを通過して、レンズ 4に集光される光によって構成される。つまり、バルブ 3から出た 光のうち、直接レンズ 4を通過して出射される光以外の光が出射光 R2となってレンズ 4力 拡がりをもって出射されることとなる。
例えば、図 2 (a)に示すように、バルブ 3から出て、第 1反射面 HIや第 2反射面 H2 に達した光は、そこで反射した後に第 2の焦点 Bを通過する。第 2の焦点 Bを通過した 後、レンズ 4に入射される光以外の光は、再び第 1の焦点 A側に戻されて第 1反射面 HIに到達し、バルブ 3から第 1反射面 HIに直接到達した光とともに、第 2の焦点 Bに 集光される。そして、このような反射を繰り返すうちに、レンズ 4力も光が出射される。 すなわち、回転楕円面の特性により、バルブ 3から出た光は、無駄なくレンズ 4に集光 されて出射されることとなり、バルブ 3からの光が有効に使用されることとなる。 [0045] このことを、図 2 (b)に示した、断面が放物線状を呈し、ひとつの焦点 Cを有する反 射面 HI 1で形成された照明装置 100と比較して説明すると次のようになる。ここで、 使用するバルブ 3やレンズ 4は、前記照明装置 1に用いたものと同一のものを用いた
[0046] このような照明装置 100において、反射面 HI 1の焦点 Cにバルブ 3を配設して点灯 を試みると、バルブ 3から出た光のうち、直接レンズ 4を通過して出射される光以外の 光は、反射面 HI 1や反射面 H12で反射してレンズ 4を通過するものがあると同時に 、反射面 H11で反射した後に先端面 H13に行き当たって消滅するものが存在するこ とが分かる。すなわち、この照明装置 100では、先端面 H13の大きさに対して、レン ズ 4の大きさが小さいので、その分、レンズ 4に集光されずに消滅する光が存在するこ ととなり、バルブ 3からの光が有効に利用されな ヽと 、う難点を有して 、る。
[0047] これに対して、本実施の形態の照明装置 1では、図 2 (a)に示すように、バルブ 3か ら出た光が回転楕円面の第 1,第 2の焦点 A, Bを通過して、最終的には、レンズ 4か ら出射される構成であるので、レンズ 4に集光されずに消滅する光は、存在しないか 、仮に存在しても、ごく僅かであるので、ノ レブ 3からの光が有効に利用されるという 利点を有している。

で求められる範囲に設定されることが望ましい。この場合、(L+T) ZlOOより焦点 距離 fの値を小さく設定すると、照明効率が極端に低下してしまい、足元照明として使 用するのに不適であった。

ここで、照明装置 1に凸レンズ 4aを用いた場合には、回転楕円面を考慮して前記式 (1)で示した範囲となるように焦点距離 fを設定する必要がある。ここでは、後記する アウターミラーの照明装置 1として用いたときに好適な照明装置 1となることを前提とし て、凸レンズ 4aのレンズ半径 rを 15mm、照射面 F (路面)と凸レンズ 4aとの距離(高さ ) hを lm、照射面 Fにおける照射半径 Rが足元照明として許容できる 250mmを確保 することができるように、前記式 f=rhZ (R+r)に前記それぞれの値を代入して、焦 点距離 fを 55mmと定めた。
このように、焦点距離 fを 55mmに設定することにより、前記式(1)による関係は、(L +T) /100< 55≤ (L+T) Z2となる。これにより、回転楕円面を構成する上での要 素となる L+Tは、次式で表される範囲に設定される。なお、 Lは前記したように照明 装置 1における焦点間距離であり、 Tは第 2の焦点 Bからレンズ 4までの距離である。

つまり、これらの関係を説明すると、まず、前記式(1)により、回転楕円面を用いた 照明装置 1において好ましい焦点距離 fを定めることができるが、これをさらに照明装 置 1の設置される高さと、光の拡がりとの関係で好ましい値となるように前記式 f=rh / (R+r)または前記式 f =rhZ (R-r)力 導かれる焦点距離 fの値を前記式(1)の 焦点距離 fの範囲内となるように設定することにより、その結果として、前記のように回 転楕円面を構成する上での要素となる L+Tが決まってくるという関係にある。なお、 照明装置 1は、焦点間距離 Lを 120mm、距離 Tを 30mmとして構成した。

[0066] 比較例として、本実施形態の照明装置 1を用いずに、バルブ 3 (図 1 (a) (b)参照)の みを床面 (路面)より lmの高さに配置して照射したときの照度分布 (ハ)を示す。この 照度分布 (ハ)と前記照度分布 (ィ)(口)とを比較すると、図から明らかであるように、 凸レンズ 4aまたは凹レンズ 4bを用いた照度分布 (ィ)(口)の 、ずれの場合にお!ヽても 、照度分布 (ハ)を上回った照度および照射半径となっており、照明装置 1の直下の 広い範囲において照明が効果的に行われていることが分かる。照明装置 1の照射半 径は前記したように約 50cmであるのに対し、比較例の照射半径は約 20cmとなって おり、照明装置 1の照射範囲は、単純に半径を比べただけでも比較例の 2. 5倍、面 積比ではおよそ 6倍の広い範囲となった。なお、例えば、アウターミラーの足元照明と して照明装置 1を利用する場合、前記条件において好ましい照射半径は、比較例に 対して約 1. 2倍以上 (約 25cm以上)確保されることが好ましぐさらに約 2倍以上 (約 50cm以上)確保されることがより好まし!/、。

そして、図 12 (c)に示すように、この長孔 38a, 38bの各裏座面 38A (図では一方 のみ図示)には、後部側となる部位に、カバー 30 (図 11参照)のボス 36a, 36bを誘 い込み易くするための傾斜面 38Bが形成されている。この傾斜面 38Bには、カバー 3 0のボス 36a, 36bの頂部後端 36Aが対向するようになって!/、る。
[0091] このようなブラケット 35は、組み付け時に必要以上に締付け力が作用しないように、 若干弾性変形が可能となっており、これによつて、形状公差のばらつきを吸収するよ うになつている。この弾性変形の曲げ変形は、ブラケット 35のクランプ効果を高めるも のとなる。このようなことから、ブラケット 35の材料としては、強度を有するとともに軽量 なプラスチック等の高分子化合物が好適である。
[0092] 次に、図 12 (a)〜(d)を参照して、ミラーハウジング 20への照明装置 1の取付手順 を説明する。
取り付けに先立って、まず、照明装置 1をカバー 30に対して固定する。この固定は 、図 11に示すように、 4本の固定ねじ 5を用いて行い、保持部 30Aと照明装置 1との 間にシール 32を介在させて行う。これにより、照明装置 1は、塵埃や水等の浸入が防 止された状態でカバー 30に固定されることとなる。なお、図 10に示すように、照明装 置 1は、その下ケース 2Bが保持部 30Aの内面との間に若干の隙間を有した状態で 保持されるようになって 、る。
[0093] ミラーハウジング 20への固定は、図 12 (a)に示すように、照明装置 1の固定された カバー 30を、ミラーハウジング 20の下方から開口部 21に近づけ、開口部 21に対して 装着することにより行う。この際、照明装置 1のワイヤーハーネス Wは、開口部 21から ミラーハウジング 20内に予め挿入しておくようにする。
[0094] その後、図 12 (b)に示すように、ミラーハウジング 20の内側力もブラケット 35を装着 して、カバー 30を開口部 21に固定する。このとき、ブラケット 35の装着は、次のような 手順により行う。 まず、ブラケット 35をミラーハウジング 20内に挿入して、ブラケット 35の前部 35Aを 、開口部 21の縁部(前部側)の取付座 22に対して押し当てるようにして、当接させる 。これにより、カバー 30のボス部 31a, 31bの前方にブラケット 35の前部 35Aが配置 された状態となる。その後、図 12 (b)に矢印 Eで示すように、ブラケット 35を後部 35B 側へ引き寄せる(引っ張る)。そうすると、ブラケット 35の前部 35Aがボス部 31a, 31b 側へ移動し、ブラケット 35の係合溝部 35a, 35bにボス部 31a, 31bのフック 33a, 33 bが係合した状態となる。
[0095] これにより、カバー 30の前部側がブラケット 35の前部 35Aによって、保持された状 態となる。このとき、係合溝部 35a, 35bとフック 33a, 33bとの間には、前後方向に若 干の間隙 SP (締め代)が形成されるようになっており、このような間隙 SPが形成される ように、各部の寸法が設定されている。
[0096] 次に、固定ねじ 39a, 39bを、ブラケット 35の取付咅 37a, 37bに設けた長孑し 38a, 38b力らボス 36a, 36bのねじ穴に虫累合し、カノく一 30の後咅 則とブラケット 35の後咅 35Bとの間に、開口部 21の縁部(後部側)を挟持する。
[0097] ここで、図 12 (c)〖こ示すように、長孔 38a, 38bの各裏座面 38A (図では一方のみ 図示)には、誘い込み用の傾斜面 38Bが設けられており、この傾斜面 38Bには、カバ 一 30のボス 36a, 36bの頂部後端 36Aがそれぞれ対向するようになって!/、るので、 次のような作用が得られる。すなわち、固定ねじ 39a, 39bを締め付けてゆくと、傾斜 面 38B上を、ボス 36a, 36bの頂咅後端 36A力 Sすべり、固定ねじ 39a, 39bの蹄付け 力 F1の分力として引込み力 F2が発生することとなる。そのため、ブラケット 35が後部 35B側にすべるようにして引き込まれ、図 12 (d)に示すように、対岸となるブラケット 3 5の前咅 35Aは、開口咅 21の取付座 22とボス咅 31a, 31bのフック 33a, 33bとの間 にくさび状に強く係合することとなる。
[0098] ここで、ブラケット 35の前部 35Aの係合溝部 35a, 35bは、下り傾斜状となっており 、この係合溝咅 35a, 35bにボス咅 31a, 31bのフック 33a, 33b力 S係合するようになつ ているので、開口部 21の取付座 22とボス部 31a, 31bのフック 33a, 33bとの間には 、結果として、 V字状の隙間が形成されることとなり、この隙間に対して、係合溝部 35 a, 35bがくさび状に入り込むこととなる。 [0099] ところで、図 12 (d)に示すように、くさび状を呈する角度 Θ力 例えば、小さく設定さ れていれば、引込み力 F2の分力 F3, F4は、引込み力 F2よりも大きく作用することが 知られており、本実施の形態においても、くさび状を呈する角度 Θが小さくなつている ので、分力 F3, F4は引き込み力 F2よりも大きな力で各傾斜面に対して垂直に作用 することとなる。ここで、分力 F3は、ブラケット 35の前部 35Aの係合溝部 35a, 35bか らボス部 3 la, 3 lbのフック 33a, 33bに対して作用し、また、分力 F4は、同じく前部 3 5Aの下面から開口部 21の取付座 22に対して作用する。これにより、カバー 30は、 上側(ミラーハウジング 20の内方)に引き上げられる状態となり、その結果、カバー 30 の前端部が取付座 22の下面に強く密着することとなる。
[0100] また、このとき、固定ねじ 39a, 39bの締め付けに伴って、ブラケット 35が曲げ変形( ブラケット 35の中央部が下方へ突出する方向へ湾曲変形)し、その弾性力(上向きに 戻ろうとする力)によって、カバー 30は、ミラーハウジング 20の内側方向に付勢される ようにして保持される。これにより、カバー 30は、がたつき等の発生しない状態に開口 部 21に固定されることとなる。
[0101] このようなアウターミラー Mによれば、照明装置 1は、カバー 30に対して直接固定さ れてミラーハウジング 20に取り付けられるようになっているので、ミラーハウジング 20 内に設けられた図示しないフレーム等に固定される場合に比べて、フレーム等の変 形や歪みの影響を受けにくいという利点が得られる。これにより、照明装置 1の位置 ずれ (軸芯ずれ (軸線 O:図 1 (a) (b)参照))が生じに《されたアウターミラー Mが得 られる。
また、カバー 30の内側に照明装置 1が保持される構造であるので、カバー 30のデ ザインの自由度が高まり、ミラーハウジング 20の形状に合わせてカバー 30を形成す ることができる。したがって、意匠効果の高いアウターミラー Mが得られる。
[0102] また、カバー 30に対して照明装置 1が取り付けられる構造であるので、ミラーハウジ ング 20に対してカバー 30を取り付け、あるいは取り外しすることで、照明装置 1の交 換等も簡単に行うことができ、メンテナンス性に優れたアウターミラー Mが得られる。ま た、カバー 30の取り付け取り外しは、ミラーハウジング 20の外側の下方力 行うことが できるので、その際に、ミラーハウジング 20内の図示しないァクチユエータやその他 の電装部品等に照明装置 1が干渉することがない。したがって、組み付け作業性に 優れたアウターミラー Mが得られる。
[0103] さらに、照明装置 1はカバー 30を介してミラーハウジング 20内に収容された状態で 設けられるので、衝撃等を受けにくぐ破損等も生じにくいという利点が得られる。 なお、照明装置 1の代わりに、アウターミラー Mの側方等を撮像することができるカメ ラやその他の電装品を、前記照明装置 1を取り付けるための構造を用いてミラーハウ ジング 20に取り付けることも可能である。
[0104] 図 13はこのようなアウターミラー Mに設けられる照明装置の変形例を示した摸式断 面図である。
同図において、この照明装置 1Aでは、回転楕円面の頂部位置に変更手段として のプリズム 6が設けられており、このプリズム 6から出射される光の進行方向先に、レン ズ 4が配設された構成となって 、る。
[0105] このような照明装置 1Aによれば、光の出射方向をプリズム 6により任意の方向へ変 更することができ、所望の範囲、例えば、夜間の乗り降りの際の足元照明として好適 な、サイドドア S1から車体 Sの後方向にかけての路面の広 、範囲を照らすように設定 することもできる。し力も、プリズム 6を経て出射された光の進行方向先に、レンズ 4が 配設されているので、プリズム 6を用いない通常の照明と略同様に、所望の範囲を明 るく照らすことができるという利点も得られる。
[0106] また、図 14に示すように、下ケース 2Bの下部側方を切り欠いて、そこにレンズ 4を設 けた照明装置 1Bとしてもよい。このように構成することで、レンズ 4から出射される光 の出射方向を簡易に変更することができる。なお、レンズ 4の取付位置は、第 2の焦 点 Bよりも反バルブ 3側に設定することが光の集光を考慮した場合に望ましいといえる
[0107] さらに、図 15 (a) (b)に示すように、反射面 Hを、回転楕円面力もなる反射面 H3と 平面力もなる反射面 H4との組み合わせにより形成してもよい。
このような照明装置 1Cにおいても、回転楕円面力 なる反射面 H3を有しているの で、回転楕円面の特性を生力した照明を実現することができる。ここで、回転楕円面 力 なる反射面 H3の幅 W1は、バルブ 3の幅 W2と同じかまたはこれよりも幅広となる ように設定してある。これは、バルブ 3の幅 W2よりも反射面 H3の幅 W1を小さくすると 、ノ レブ 3からの光を有効に利用することができなくなるおそれがあるとともに、そのよ うな反射面 Hは、形成が複雑になるという難点を有しているからである。
[0108] このような照明装置 1Cによれば、反射面 Hを利用してバルブ 3からの光を第 2の焦 点 Bに集光することができ、第 2の焦点 Bに集光された光をレンズ 4に通過させること ができる。したがって、バルブ 3からの光が有効に使用されるようになり、広い範囲を 明るく照らすことができるという利点が得られる。し力も、反射面 Hを構成する回転楕 円面力 なる反射面 H3は、バルブ 3の幅 W2と同じかまたはこれよりも幅広となるよう にしてあるので、その分、照明装置 1Cのスリムィ匕 (省スペースィ匕)を図ることができる。 したがって、例えば、種々の電装品が収納されるアウターミラー Mに好適なコンパクト な形状の照明装置 1Cが得られる。したがって、図 15 (c)に示すように、反射面 H3の 幅 W1がより小さくなるように形成することにより、より一層コンパクト化された照明装置 1Cを得ることができる。
[0109] (第 2の実施の形態)
第 2の実施形態に係る照明装置 1Dは、図 16に示すように、反射面 Hが、複数の回 転楕円面からなる反射面 H5, H6および球面力 なる反射面 H7の組み合わせによ り形作られた構成となって!/ヽる。
この照明装置 1Dでは、共通する第 1,第 2の焦点 A, Bを備えた、角度の小さい回 転楕円面 D1と、これより角度の大きい回転楕円面 D2とを組み合わせ、さらに、第 2 の焦点 Bに重なる中心点を備えた球面 D3を組み合わせることで、反射面 Hが形成さ れるようになっている。
[0110] 上ケース 2Aには、回転楕円面 D1からなる反射面 H5および球面 D3からなる反射 面 H7が形成され、下ケース 2Bには、回転楕円面 D2からなる反射面 H6が形成され ている。そして、上ケース 2Aと下ケース 2Bとのつなぎ目 2a, 2bは、上ケース 2Aの反 射面 H7と下ケース 2Bの反射面 H6とが交差する部位としてある。したがって、つなぎ 目 2a, 2b部分では、各反射面 H7, H6が傾斜状に交わった状態となっている。
[0111] このような照明装置 1Dによれば、第 1の焦点 Aに配設されたバルブ 3から出た光は 、第 2の焦点 B側に配置されたレンズ 4を直接通過して出射されるほ力、各反射面 H5 〜H7で複数回反射されるなどして第 2の焦点 Bを通過した後に、最終的にレンズ 4を 通過して出射される。つまり、バルブ 3から出た光のうち、第 2の焦点 B側(レンズ 4側) の反射面 H6に達した光は、反射されて第 1の焦点 Aのバルブ 3あるいは球面 D3の 反射面 H7に到達し、その後、第 2の焦点 Bに集光されてレンズ 4を通過する。
[0112] この照明装置 1Dでは、角度の小さい回転楕円面 D1からなる反射面 H5を含んで いるので、その分、光路が短縮されるようになり、第 2の焦点 B側へ光が有効に集光さ れるようになる。さらに、第 2の焦点 B側に対向して、球面 D3からなる反射面 H7が設 けられるかたちとなるので、第 2の焦点 B側力も第 1の焦点 A側に戻ろうとする光が、こ の反射面 H7で反射されて再び第 2の焦点 B側に集光されるようになる。したがって、 その分、光路が短縮されるようになる。このように、複数の回転楕円面 Dl, D2からな る反射面 H5, H6および球面 D3からなる反射面 H7を組み合わせることにより、短い 光路でバルブ 3からの光が第 2の焦点 Bに対して集光するように構成することができ、 前記第 1の実施の形態で説明したような、ひとつの回転楕円面で反射面 Hを形成し た場合に比べて、ノ レブ 3からの光をレンズ 4に有効に集光させることができるという 利点が得られる。
[0113] また、このような照明装置 1Dでは、反射面 H7と反射面 H6との境界部分を、成形カロ ェ時の金型のつなぎ目部分とすることができる。つまり、つなぎ目 2a, 2bでは、金型 の抜き方向に対して、反射面 H7, H6が角度をもつようになっており、これによつて、 離型の際の抵抗が小さくなるようにすることができる。したがって、離型作業に伴って 反射面 H7, H6等に割れが発生し難くなり、高品質で生産性のよい照明装置 1Dが 得られる。
[0114] なお、照明装置 1Dは、複数の回転楕円面のみを組み合わせて構成してもよいし、 回転楕円面に複数の球面を組み合わせて構成してもよ ヽ。
[0115] また、図 17に示すように、前記照明装置 1Dにおける上ケース 2Aと下ケース 2Bとの 天地を逆転して、下ケース 2Bの第 2の焦点 Bにバルブ 3を配置するとともに、上ケー ス 2Aの第 1の焦点 A側にレンズ 4を設けるように構成してもよ 、。
このような照明装置 1Eによれば、レンズ 4側となる第 1の焦点 Aに集光された光が効 率よくレンズ 4を通じて出射されるようになり、バルブ 3からの光が有効に使用された 照明装置 IEが得られるようになる。
以上、本発明に係る実施の形態について説明したが、これらをさらに種々変更して 用いることも可能である。
例えば、照明装置 1をアウターミラー Mのミラーベース 10に対して設置してもよぐま た、サイドドア S1やルーフに対して照明装置 1を設けてもよい。また、照明装置 1の出 射光を自動車の後方へ向けて出射することにより、後方視認用の照明として機能さ せることもできる。さらに、図示しないァクチユエータと連結して、照明装置 1からの光 の出射角度が変更されるように構成してもよ ヽ。

Claims

請求の範囲
[1] 少なくとも一部が回転楕円面からなり、第 1,第 2の焦点を有する反射面と、この反 射面の前記第 1の焦点に配設された光源と、前記第 2の焦点側に配設され前記光源 力もの光を出射する出射部とを備えた照明装置であって、
前記反射面は少なくとも、前記光源からの光を前記第 1の焦点側に戻す反射部を 有しているとともに、
前記出射部は、前記第 2の焦点または前記第 2の焦点の前記第 1の焦点とは反対 側となる位置に配設されていることを特徴とする照明装置。
[2] 少なくとも一部が回転楕円面からなり、第 1,第 2の焦点を有する反射面と、この反 射面の前記第 1の焦点に配設された光源と、前記第 2の焦点側に配設され前記光源 力もの光を出射する出射部とを備えた照明装置であって、
前記出射部に凸レンズが配設されるとともに、
この凸レンズの焦点距離を f、前記第 1の焦点と第 2の焦点との間隔を L,前記第 2 の焦点と前記凸レンズとの間隔を Tとし、次式

前記出射部に凹レンズが配設されるとともに、

[6] 前記出射部は、前記第 2の焦点側において、前記回転楕円面の頂部に配設されて いることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1項力 第 5項のいずれ力 1項に記載の照明装置
[7] 前記反射面は、前記回転楕円面が複数組み合わされることにより形作られているこ とを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1項力 第 5項のいずれ力 1項に記載の照明装置。
[8] 前記反射面を形作る複数の面と面との境界部分が、成形加工時の金型のつなぎ目 部分となる抜き勾配を付して形成されていることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 7項に記 載の照明装置。
[9] 前記反射面は、前記回転楕円面および球面の組み合わせにより形作られているこ とを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1項力 第 5項のいずれ力 1項に記載の照明装置。
[10] 前記反射面を形作る複数の面と面との境界部分が、成形加工時の金型のつなぎ目 部分となる抜き勾配を付して形成されていることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 9項に記 載の照明装置。
[11] 前記出射部の配設される位置に、前記出射部に代えて、光の進行方向を変更する 変更手段を設け、この変更手段を経て出射された光の進行方向先に、前記出射部 が配設されてなることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1項力 第 5項のいずれ力 1項に記 載の照明装置。
[12] 前記反射面を構成する前記回転楕円面は、前記光源に取り付けられたバルブの幅 寸法と同じかまたはこれよりも幅広の寸法を備えてなることを特徴とする請求の範囲 第 1項力 第 5項のいずれか 1項に記載の照明装置。
[13] 請求の範囲第 1項力 第 5項のいずれか 1項に記載の照明装置を備えたアウターミ ラーであって、
後方視認用のミラーが設けられたミラーハウジングの下部に開口部を形成し、この 開口部に前記照明装置の前記レンズを臨ませたことを特徴とするアウターミラー。
[14] 請求の範囲第 6項に記載の照明装置を備えたアウターミラーであって、
後方視認用のミラーが設けられたミラーハウジングの下部に開口部を形成し、この 開口部に前記照明装置の前記レンズを臨ませたことを特徴とするアウターミラー。
[15] 請求の範囲第 7項に記載の照明装置を備えたアウターミラーであって、
後方視認用のミラーが設けられたミラーハウジングの下部に開口部を形成し、この 開口部に前記照明装置の前記レンズを臨ませたことを特徴とするアウターミラー。

後方視認用のミラーが設けられたミラーハウジングの下部に開口部を形成し、この 開口部に前記照明装置の前記レンズを臨ませたことを特徴とするアウターミラー。
