Abstract

L'installation de coulée continue des métaux, de l'acier en particulier, dans laquelle la busette immergée (8) est entourée par un inducteur électromagnétique annulaire (1) à champ magnétique tournant autour de l'axe de coulée destiné à entraîner en rotation axiale avec lui le métal en fusion, se caractérise en ce que, cet inducteur étant de type polyphasé à champ magnétique traversant, pourvu d'une paire de pôles saillants (3) par phase, chaque pôle saillant présente à son extrémité en regard de la busette un rétrécissement latéral (12) qui augmente la distance séparant les extrémités polaires (4) entre elles. On réalise ainsi un inducteur de grande compacité à forte puissance, délivrant un champ traversant intense jusque dans la partie centrale de la busette et ce avec un courant primaire à fréquence élevée de manière à obtenir une mise en rotation efficace du métal liquide en transit dans la busette. L'invention s'applique avantageusement à la coulée continue de brames mettant en oeuvre une busette immergée à ouïes de sorties latérales.
