明細書 スピンスタンド 技術分野
本発明は、へッドまたはディスクを試験するためのスピンスタンドに係り、特に、 ベースと、転がり軸受けを介してベースと連結されたステージとを備えるスピンス タンドに関する。
背景技術
ハードデイスクドライプの構成要素であるヘッドおよぴデイスクの少なくとも 一方を試験するための装置としてスピンスタンドがある (例えば、 特表 2003— 515859号公報の図 1、特開 2001— 101853号公報の第 5頁、および、 特開平 6— 1 50269号公報の第 4頁を参照。)。
スピンスタンドは、 ディスクを回転させ、 また、 回転するディスクに対してへッ ドを相対位置決めする装置である。 スピンスタンドは、 主要構成要素として、 ベー スと、 ディスク回転手段と、 位置決め手段とを備える。 ディスク回転手段および位 置決め手段は、 ベースに取り付けられている。 位置決め手段は、 へッドを支持する ステージと、 ステージを移動させる駆動手段と、 ステージの位置を検出する位置検 出手段とを備える。 なお、 ステージは、 軸受けを介してベースに取り付けられてい る。
ステージは、 駆動手段の力とは異なる外的な力によって摂動する。 現在、 スピン スタンドにおけるへッドの位置決め精度は、 2〜3ナノメートル以下であることが 求められている。 そこで、 スピンスタンドは、 要求される位置決め精度を維持する ために、 ステージを所望の位置に移動させた後にステージをベースに固定させるこ とによりヘッドの位置を安定させている。 ステージをベースに固定する代表的な手 段として、 エアチャックがある (例えば、 特表 2003— 515859号公報の第 9頁、 および、 特開 2001— 101853号公報の第 5頁を参照。)。
発明の開示
スピンスタンドにおいて、 ボールベアリングなどの転がり軸受けにより、 ベース とステージとが連結されている場合、位置決め後のステージの位置安定度に問題が あった。 まず、 ボールベアリングを介してベースに連結されている直動式のステー ジは、板バネを介してステージに取り付けられたエアチェックがベースに吸着する ことにより、 ベースに間接的に固定される。 板パネは、 専ら特定の方向に変形する ものであるが、 それ以外の方向においても僅かながらに変形する。 従って、 エアチ ャックとステージとの相対的な位置関係が安定しない。 また、 従来のスピンスタン ドにおいて、 回転式のステージが用いられた例はないので、 回転式のステージをべ ースへ固定する先行技術もない。 要するに、 現時点では、 転がり軸受けによりべ一 スとステージとが連結されているスピンスタンドにおいて、 ステージをベースへ安 定して固定する手段がないのである。 ところで、 スピンスタンドは、 要求される位 置決め精度が年々高くなつている。 また、 スピンスタンドは、 頻繁に位置決めを行 う装置であり、 位置決め動作が高速であることも併せて求められる。
そこで、 本発明は、 転がり軸受けを介してベースに取り付けられたステージを前 記ベースに高安定かつ高速に固定できるスピンスタンドを提供することを目的と する。
本第一の発明は、へッドまたはディスクを試験するためのスピンスタンドであつ て、 ベースと、 転がり軸受けを介して前記ベースに取り付けられたステージとを備 えるスピンスタンドにおいて、前記べ一スとの吸着およぴ前記ステージとの吸着に より、 前記ベースおよび前記ステージと一体化し、 それにより前記ステージを前記 ベースに固定させ、 前記ベースおよぴ前記ステージとの一体化ならぴに前記ベース および前記ステージからの分離が制御可能である固定装置を備えることを特徴と するものである。
また、 本第二の発明は、 本第一の発明において、 前記固定装置は、 吸着により前 記ベースと前記ステージとを連結する部分が、可動部のない固体で構成されること を特徴とするものである。
さらに、 本第三の発明は、 本第一の発明または本第二の発明において、 さらに、 前記固定装置と前記ベースとの吸着状態、 または、 前記固定装置と前記ステージと の吸着状態を確認する手段を備えることを特徴とするものである。
またさらに、 本第四の発明は、 本第一の発明、 本第二の発明、 または、 本第三の 発明において、前記固定装置と前記ベースとを吸着させようとする力および前記固 定装置と前記ステージとを吸着させようと る力は、前記固定装置と前記ベースと 前記ステージとが一体化した後は、一体化しようとする時に比べて小さくなること を特徴とするものである。
また、 本第五の発明は、 本第一の発明、 本第二の発明、 本第三の発明、 または、 本第四の発明において、 前記ステージは、 第一の磁性体を備え、 前記ベースは、 第 二の磁性体を備え、 前記固定装置は、 電磁力により前記第一の磁性体および前記第 二の磁性体に吸着する電磁石を備えることを特徴とするものである。
また、 本第六の発明は、 本第五の発明において、 さらに、 前記電磁石が前記第一 の磁性体と前記第二の磁性体とに磁着している時に、前記電磁石を前記第一の磁性 体と前記第二の磁性体とから分離させる手段を備えることを特徴とするものであ る。
また、 本第七の発明は、 本第一の発明、 本第二の発明、 本第三の発明、 または、 本第四の発明において、 前記ステージは、 第一の平滑面を備え、 前記ベースは、 第 二の平滑面を備え、 前記固定装置は、 気圧の制御により、 前記第一の平滑面および 前記第二の平滑面に着脱可能なエアチャックを備えることを特徴とするものであ る。
本発明によれば、 可動部分のない固体を、 ベ一スとステ一ジとに吸着させるよう にしたので、 ベースとステージが強力に一体化され、 ステージがベースに固定され る。 また、 ベースとステージに押圧がかからないので、 ベースやステージに関連す る軸受け部分などの可動部分における負荷も軽減される。
また、 本発明によれば、 ベースとステ ジとの吸着状態を確認するようにしたの で、 固定装置の固定能力を安定かつ確実に発揮させることができる。
さらに、 本発明によれば、 吸着状態にある電磁石を強制的に引き離すようにした ので、 所定時間内にステージの固定状態を解除することができる。
またさらに、 本発明によれば、 固定装置がステージとベースに吸着した後、 固定 装置の吸着力を弱めるようにしたので、 所要電力や熱の発生が抑制される。 これに より、 例えば、 電磁石の周辺の機械や電気回路および検査対象物への熱的な影響を 低減することができる。

発明を実施するための最良の形態
以下、 本発明を添付の図面に示す好適実施形態に基づいて説明する。 本発明の第
—の実施形態は、へッドおよびディスクの少なくとも一方を検査するためのスピン スタンド 1 0 0である。 ここで、 図 1と図 2を参照する。 図 1は、 スピンスタンド 1 0 0を上方から斜視した図である。 図 2は、 スピンスタンド 1 0 0を下方から斜 視した図である。 図 2において図 1と同じ要素は、 同一参照番号が付されている。 スピンスタンド 1 0 0は、 ベース 1 1 0と、 ディスク回転装置 1 2 0と、 ピエゾ ステージ 1 3 0と、 回転ステージ 1 4 0とを備える。 ベース 1 1 0は、 天板 1 1 1 と側板 1 1 2とを備える。 ディスク回転装置 1 2 0は、 図示しないディスクを回転 する装置である。 ピエゾステージ 1 3 0は、 へッド 2 0 0を直線的に微細位置決め する装置であって、 回転ステージ 1 4 0の天板 1 4 1上に取り付けられている。 ピ ェゾステージ 1 3 0は、 矢印 Aの方向にへッド 2 0 0を位置決めする。 この矢印 A の方向は、 ヘッド 2 0 0の図示しないギャップ中心線に垂直な方向、 または、 その 方向を含む方向である。 回転ステージ 1 4 0は、 転がり軸受け 1 5 0を介してべ一 ス 1 1 0に取り付けられている。 回転ステージ 1 4 0は、 図示しない馬区動手段およ び図示しない位置検出手段により、矢印 Bの方向にピエゾステージ 1 3 0を回転位 置決めする。 ピエゾステージ 1 3 0が回転位置決めされると、 ピエゾステージ 1 3 0の位置決め方向 Aも変わる。
また、 スピンスタンド 1 0 0は、 固定装置 3 0 0を備える。 固定装置 3 0 0は、 電磁石 3 3 0を用いて、回転ステージ 1 4 0をベース 1 1 0に固定する装置である c 電磁石 3 3 0は、 ベース 1 1 0と回転ステージ 1 4 0とに磁着して一体化し、 それ により回転ステージ 1 4 0をベース 1 1 0に固定する。 ベース 1 1 0は、 電磁石 3 3 0が吸着するための磁性板 2 2 0を備える。 また、 回転ステージ 1 4 0は、 電磁 石 3 3 0が吸着するための磁性板 2 1 0を備える。磁性板 2 1 0および磁性板 2 2 0は、 鉄製の平板である。
以下、 図 2と図 3を参照する。 図 3は、 図 2における C一 C断面図である。 図 3 において図 2と同じ要素は、 同一参照番号が付されている。 磁性板 2 1 0の面 2 1 1と磁性板 2 2 0の面 2 2 1との段差は無レ、。 また、 面 2 1 1およぴ面 2 2 1は、 回転ステージ 1 4 0の回転軸に垂直な面である。 電磁石 3 3 0は、 吸着面 3 3 1が 面 2 1 1と面 2 2 2とに対向するように、板パネ 3 4 0を介してベース 1 1 0に取 り付けられている。 電磁石 3 3 0の吸着面 3 3 1は、 面 2 1 1と面 2 2 1とに同時 に密着できるような形状を有する。 板バネ 3 4 0は、 橋形に形成され、 その端部 3 4 1がベース 1 1 0に固定されている。 また、 板パネ 3 4 0は、 電磁石 3 3 0が取 り付けられている面とは反対の面に、 磁性板 3 8 0が取り付けられている。 磁性板 3 8 0は、 鉄製の平板である。 磁性板 3 8 0と板バネ 3 4 0との間には絶縁体 3 7 0が設けられている。 絶縁体 3 7 0は、 例えば、 M Cナイロン (商標) を成形した ものである。 さらに、 ベース 1 1 0には、 磁性板 3 8 0と向かい合うように、 支持 体 3 6 0を介して電磁石 3 5 0が取り付けられている。 なお、 電磁石 3 5 0は、 磁 性板 3 8 0には固定されていない。 電磁石 3 3 0および電磁石 3 5 0は、 図示しな い制御回路 Cにより、 それぞれ生じる磁力のオン/オフや、 それぞれの磁力の大き さなどが制御される。 制御回路 C (不図示) は、 スピンスタンド 1 0 0に備えられ ても良いし、 外部装置として提供されても良い。
次に、上記のように構成される固定装置 3 0 0の動作について説明する。図 3は、 回転ステージ 1 4 0とベース 1 1 0とが固定されていない状態を示している。 この 状態が、 通常の状態である。 ここで、 電磁石 3 3 0に電圧を印加すると、 電磁石 3 3 0は、 その発生する磁力により磁性板 2 1 0と磁性板 2 2 0とに吸着する。 ここ で、 図 4を参照する。 図 4は、 図 3と同様に図 2における C一 C断面図である力 図 3と異なり電磁石 3 3 0が磁性板 2 1 0と磁性板 2 2 0とに吸着している。 図 4 において図 3と同じ要素は、 同一参照番号が付されている。 図 4において、 磁性板 2 1 0は、 電磁石 3 3 0を介して磁性板 2 2 0と一体となるように固定される。 磁 性板 2 1 0は回転ステージ 1 4 0に、 磁性板 2 2 0はベース 1 1 0に、 それぞれ固 定されているので、 回転ステージ 1 4 0は電磁石 3 3 0を介してべ一ス 1 1 0と一 体となるように固定される。回転ステージ 1 4 0とベース 1 1 0とを連結する電磁 石 3 3 0は、 可動部分のない 1つの固体であるので、 回転ステージ 1 4 0とベース 1 1 0とは強力に一体ィヒされ、 安定した固定状態が得られる。 また、 電磁石 3 3 0 は、 磁性板 2 1 0と磁性板 2 2 0とに吸着するので、 固定に伴って回転ステージ 1 4 0やベース 1 1 0へ力を加えることがない。 従って、 回転ステージ 1 4 0の回転 軸 (不図示) や転がり軸受け 1 5 0にかかる負担も少ない。
前述のとおり、 電磁石 3 3 0の吸着面 3 3 1は、 面 2 1 1と面 2 2 1とに同時に 密着できるような形状を有する。 これにより、 ベース 1 1 0と回転ステージ 1 4 0 は強力に一体化される。 しかしながら、 面 2 1 1または面 2 2 1と吸着面 3 3 1と の間にゴミなどがあると、 面同士の接触が完全とはならず、 その結果、 回転ステー ジ 1 4 0とベース 1 1 0との固定状態は不安定になる。 また、 電磁石 3 3 0が上手 く制御されなかった場合、 回転ステージ 1 4 0とベース 1 1 0との固定状態は、 や はり、 不安定である。 このような不安定な固定状態において、 ピエゾステージ 1 3 0にへッド 2 0 0を位置決めさせると、へッド 2 0 0を駆動する反動で回転ステー ジ 1 4 0が動いてしまう場合があり、 回転ステージ 1 4 0およびへッド 2 0 0の髙 精度な位置決めが望めない。 そこで、 本実施形態の固定装置 3 0 0は、 板パネ 3 4 0に電圧を印加し、板バネ 3 4 0と磁性板 2 2 0との導通状態を確認することによ り、 面 2 2 1と吸着面 3 3 1との接触状態を確認している。 これにより、 磁性板 2 1 0と電磁石 3 3 0と吸着状態、 および、 磁性板 2 2 0と電磁石 3 3 0との吸着状 態を確認することができるので、 固定装置の固定能力を安定して発揮させることが できる。 この導通確認のために、 電磁石 3 3 0と磁性板 2 2 0は導電性を有してい る。 なお、 磁性板 2 1 0に電圧を印加し、 磁性板 2 1 0と磁性板 2 2 0との導通を 確認するようにしても良いが、吸着面 3 3 1は面 2 1 1と面 2 2 1とに同時に接触 できるような形状を有するので、吸着面 3 3 1が面 2 1 1または面 2 2 1のいずれ か一方にだけに接触することは考えにくい。 従って、 上記のように、 面 2 1 1また は面 2 2 1のいずれか一方と吸着面 3 3 1との接触状態を確認すれば足りるので ある。
ここで、 電磁石 3 3 0が発生する磁力線の様子を、 図 5に示す。 図において、 電 磁石 3 3 0は、 コイル 3 3 2とコア 3 3 3とを備える。 電磁石 3 3 0の磁力は、 コ ィル 3 3 2によって生じる。 コイル 3 3 2に電流が流れる時、 コイル 3 3 2の中心 付近が S極であり、 外周部付近が N極である。 コア 3 3 3は、 電磁石 3 3 0が磁性 板 2 1 0および磁性板 2 2 0と向かい合う面を除いて、電磁石 3 3 0全体を覆って いる。 電磁石 3 3 0が磁性板 2 1 0と磁性板 2 2 0とに吸着している時、 コイル 3 3 2が発生する磁力線は、磁性板 2 1 0および磁性板 2 2 0を介して閉磁束ノレープ 3 3 4を形成する。 また、 コイル 3 3 2が発生する磁力線は、 同様に、 コア 3 3 3 とも閉磁束ループ (不図示) を形成する。 さらに、 磁性板 2 1 0および磁性板 2 2 0は、 電磁石 3 3 0の吸着面 3 3 1のほぼ全部を覆うことができる。 従って、 電磁 石 3 3 0が磁性板 2 1 0と磁性板 2 2 0とに吸着している時、 コイル 3 3 2が発生 する磁力線は、 外部に漏れ出ない。 また、 電磁石 3 3 0の吸着面 3 3 1は磁性板 2 1 0と磁性板 2 2 0に近接して配置されているので、電磁石 3 3 0が磁性板 2 1 0 と磁性板 2 2 0に吸着しょうとする時であっても、 コイル 3 3 2が発生する磁力線 は、 ほとんど外部に漏れ出ない。 この事は、 ヘッド 2 0 0などの磁気素子を検査す る装置においては極めて重要な事である。検査結果が周囲の電磁場から受ける影響 を軽減できるからである。
また、 電磁石 3 3 0は、 磁性板 2 1 0と磁性板 2 2 0とに吸着するまでは強い磁 力が発生し、 その吸着の後は発生する磁力を弱める。 例えば、 電磁石 3 3 0を吸着 させようとする時、 電磁石 3 3 0に 2 0 Vを印加し、 吸着後は印加電圧を 1 0 Vに 下げる。 電磁石 3 3 0が磁性板 2 1 0と磁性板 2 2 0とに吸着してしまえば、 その 吸着状態の維持に必要とされる磁力は吸着しようとする時と比べて小さくても良 いからである。 このような印加電圧の制御により電磁石 3 3 0が発生する熱量を低 減することができる。
次に、 電磁石 3 3 0の吸着状態、 すなわち、 電磁石 3 3 0と磁性板 2 1 0との吸 着状態、 および、 電磁石 3 3 0と磁性板 2 2 0との吸着状態を解除する動作につい て説明する。 図 4において、 まず、 電磁石 3 3 0への印加電圧をゼロにする。 電磁 石 3 3 0への印加電圧をゼロにしても、 閉磁束ループ 3 3 4が無くなるわけではな いので、 電磁石 3 3 0の吸着状態は維持される。 また、 電磁石 3 3 0に吸着時とは 逆の電圧を印加した場合は、 図 5に示す閉磁束ループ 3 3 4の向きが逆になるだけ で、 やはり、 電磁石 3 3 0の吸着状態は維持される。 そこで、 電磁石 3 3 0の吸着 状態を速やかに解除するために、電磁石 3 3 0を磁性板 2 1 0と磁性板 2 2 0とか ら強制的に引き離す。 具体的には、 磁性板 3 8 0を電磁石 3 5 0により吸引して、 電磁石 3 3 0を磁性板 2 1 0と磁性板 2 2 0とから引き離す。 その結果、 固定装置 3 0 0は、 図 3に示す状態になる。 なお、 図示しないが、 電磁石 3 5 0は、 電磁石 3 3 0と同様に、 コアとコイルとを備えている。 また、 電磁石 3 5 0は、 電磁石 3 3 0と異なり、 磁性板 3 8 0に吸着するまでは強い磁力が発生するが、 その吸着の 後は発生する磁力をゼ口にする。電磁石 3 3 0を磁性板 2 1 0と磁性板 2 2 0とか ら引き離してしまえば、 その後の固定装置 3 0 0は板バネ 3 4 0により図 3に示す 状態で落ち着くので、 電磁石 3 5 0が継続して磁力を発生させる必要はないのであ る。 なお、 磁性板 3 8 0は吸着のための適切な面積が確保されており、 電磁石 3 5 0は磁性板 3 8 0に近接して設けられているので、電磁石 3 5 0から漏れ出す磁力 線を抑制することができる。 この電磁石 3 5 0による方法は、 例えば、 電磁石 3 3 0に錘を付けてその重みで引き離す方法などに比べて、電磁石 3 3 0を確実に且つ 決まった時間内で引き離すことができるので、安定かつ高速に電磁石 3 3 0の吸着 状態を解除することができる。
電磁石 3 3 0および電磁石 3 5 0は、 磁場を発生する。 この磁場は、 ヘッド 2 0 0などの磁気素子を測定する際の誤差要因となる場合がある。 スピンスタンド 1 0 0においては、 ヘッド 2 0 0と電磁石 3 3 0および電磁石 3 5 0との間に、 磁性板 2 1 0などを備えているので、ヘッド 2 0 0の測定に対する磁場の影響を抑制する ことができる。
第一の実施形態において、 面 2 1 1と面 2 2 1とに段差があり、 その段差に合う ように吸着面 3 3 1が階段状になっていても良い。 また、 面 2 1 1、 面 2 2 1およ ぴ吸着面 3 3 1は、 平面ではなく曲面であっても良い。 要するに、 同時に吸着でき るように構成されれば、 それらの形状は不問である。
次に、 本発明の第二の実施形態ついて説明する。 本発明の第二の実施形態は、 へ ッドまたはディスクを検査するためのスピンスタンドであって、 図 1およぴ図 2に 示すものとほぼ同様である。 ただし、 本発明の第二の実施形態では、 スピンスタン ド 1 0 0において、固定装置 3 0 0の代わりに固定装置 4 0 0を用いている。また、 それに伴い幾つかの要素が削除ないし変更されている。 固定装置 4 0 0は、 吸着手 段として電磁石の代わりにエアチャックを用いることを特徴とする。

4 0のそれぞれは、 5マイクロメートル以下の平面度を有する平滑面 2 3 1および 平滑面 2 4 1を具備する。 平滑面 2 3 1と平滑面 2 4 1との段差は無い。 また、 平 滑面 2 3 1および平滑面 2 4 1は、回転ステージ 1 4 0の回転軸に垂直な面である。 吸着ブロック 4 3 0は、 エアチャック 4 6 0と吸着面 4 3 1とを備える。 吸着ブ ロック 4 3 0は、 吸着面 4 3 1が平滑面 2 3 1と平滑面 2 4 1とに対向するように、 板パネ 3 4 0を介してベース 1 1 0に取り付けられている。 吸着プロック 4 3 0の 吸着面 4 3 1は、平滑面 2 3 1と平滑面 2 4 1とに同時に吸着できるような形状を 有する。 板バネ 3 4 0は、 橋形に形成され、 その端部 3 4 1がベース 1 1 0に固定 されている。 なお、 エアチャック 4 6 0は、 通気路 4 7 0を介して接続された空気 給排装置 P (不図示)により、エアチャック 4 6 0に生じる空気圧のオン Zオフや、 その空気圧の大きさなどが制御される。 空気給排装置 P (不図示) は、 スピンスタ ンド 1 0 0に備えられても良いし、 外部装置として提供されても良い。
次に、上記のように構成される固定装置 4 0 0の動作について説明する。図 6は、 回転ステージ 1 4 0とベース 1 1 0とが固定されていない状態を示している。 この 状態が、 固定装置 4 0 0の通常の状態である。 ここで、 空気給排装置 P (不図示) の作用によりエアチャック 4 6 0に吸気させる。 すると、 エアチャック 4 6 0に負 圧が発生する。 吸着ブロック 4 3 0は、 その発生する負圧により平滑板 2 3 0と平 滑板 2 4 0とに吸着する。 ここで、 図 7を参照する。 図 7は、 図 6と同様に固定装 置 4 0 0の断面図であるが、図 6と異なり吸着ブロック 4 3 0が平滑板 2 3 0と平 滑板 2 4 0とに吸着している。 図 7において図 6と同じ要素は、 同一参照番号が付 されている。 図 7において、 平滑板 2 3 0は、 吸着ブロック 4 3 0を介して平滑板 2 4 0と一体となるように固定される。 平滑板 2 3 0は回転ステージ 1 4 0に、 平 滑板 2 4 0はベース 1 1 0に、 それぞれ固定されているので、 回転ステージ 1 4 0 は吸着ブロック 4 3 0を介してベース 1 1 0と一体となるように固定される。 回転 ステージ 1 4 0とベース 1 1 0とを連結する吸着ブロック 4 3 0は、可動部分のな い 1つの固体であるので、 回転ステージ 1 4 0とベース 1 1 0とは強力に一体ィ匕さ れ、 安定した固定状態が得られる。 また、 吸着ブロック 4 3 0は、 回転ステージ 1 4 0とベース 1 1 0とに吸着するので、 固定に伴って回転ステージ 1 4 0やべ一ス 1 1 0へ力を加えることがない。 従って、 回転ステージ 1 4 0の回転軸 (不図示) や転がり軸受け 1 5 0にかかる負担も少ない。
前述の通り、 吸着プロック 4 3 0の吸着面 4 3 1は、 平滑面 2 3 1と平滑面 2 4 1とに同時に密着できるような形状を有する。 これにより、 回転ステージ 1 4 0と ベース 1 1 0とは強力に一体ィ匕される。 し力 しながら、 平滑面 2 3 1または平滑面 2 4 1と吸着面 4 3 1との間にゴミなどがあると、 面同士の接触が完全とはならず、 その結果、回転ステージ 1 4 0とベース 1 1 0との固定状態は不安定になる。また、 エアチャック 4 6 0が上手く制御されなかった場合、 回転ステージ 1 4 0とベース 1 1 0との固定状態は、 やはり、 不安定である。 このような不安定な固定状態にお いて、 ピエゾステージ 1 3 0にへッド 2 0 0を位置決めさせると、 へッド 2 0 0を 駆動する反動で回転ステージ 1 4 0が動いてしまう場合があり、 回転ステージ 1 4 0およびヘッド 2 0 0の高精度な位置決めが望めない。 そこで、 本実施形態の固定 装置 4 0 0は、 空気給排装置 P (不図示) の負荷状態を確認することにより、 平滑 面 2 3 1と吸着面 4 3 1との接触状態ならびに平滑面 2 4 1と吸着面 4 3 1との 接触状態を確認している。 それらの接触が完全な場合と不完全な場合とでは、 空気 給排装置 P (不図示) にかかる負荷の大きさが異なることを利用している。 これに より、 固定装置 4 0 0の固定能力を安定して発揮させることができる。
また、 吸着プロック 4 3 0は、 平滑板 2 3 0と平滑板 2 4 0とに吸着するまでは 強い負圧が発生し、 その吸着の後は発生する負圧を弱めても良い。 吸着ブロック 4 3 0が平滑板 2 3 0と平滑板 2 4 0とに吸着してしまえば、 その吸着状態の維持に 必要とされる負圧は、 吸着しょうとする時と比べて小さくても良いからである。 も ちろん、 吸着後に発生する負圧を弱めずとも良い。
次に、 吸着プロック 4 3 0の吸着状態、 すなわち、 平滑板 2 3 0と吸着プロック 4 3 0との吸着状態、 および、 平滑板 2 4 0と吸着プロック 4 3 0との吸着状態を 解除する動作について説明する。 図 7において、 空気給排装置 P (不図示) の作用 によりエアチャック 4 6 0から噴気する。 すると、 エアチャック 4 6 0に正圧が発 生する。 吸着プロック 4 3 0は、 その発生する正圧により平滑板 2 3 0および平滑 板 2 4 0力、ら離れる。 吸着プロック 4 3 0の吸着状態を解除された固定装置 3 0 0 は、 図 6に示す通りである。 吸着ブロック 4 3 0を平滑板 2 3 0および平滑板 2 4 0から離してしまえば、 その後の固定装置 4 0 0は図 6に示す状態で落ち着くので、 エアチャック 4 6◦に継続して正圧を発生させる必要はない。 このエアチャック 4 6 0による解除方法は、 電磁石を用いる場合と同様に、 吸着ブロック 4 3 0を確実 に且つ決まつた時間内で引き離すことができるので、安定かつ高速に吸着ブロック 4 3 0の吸着状態を解除することができる。 また、 このエアチャック 4 6 0による 方法は、 電磁石を用いる場合に比べて、 吸着プロック 4 3 0の吸着状態を解除する ための追加の手段が不要である。 さらに、 このエアチャック 4 6 0による方法は、 へッドの検查結果に影響を及しにくい。
次に、 本発明の第三の実施形態ついて説明する。 本発明の第三の実施形態は、 へ ッドおよびディスクの少なくとも一方を検査するためのスピンスタンド 5 0 0で ある。 ここで、 図 8を参照する。 図 8は、 スピンスタンド 5 0 0を上方から #斗視し た図である。
スピンスタンド 5 0 0は、 ベース 5 1 0と、 直動ステージ 5 2 0とを備える。 ベ ース 5 1 0は、 天板 5 1 1と、 天板 5 1 1上で直立する支柱 5 1 2および支柱 5 1 3とを備える。 支柱 5 1 2は、 上部に磁性板 6 1 1を備える。 支柱 5 1 3は、 上部 に磁性板 6 1 2を備える。 磁性板 6 1 1の上には、 転がり軸受けの一例であるリニ ァガイド 5 3 1が取り付けられている。 磁性板 6 1 2の上には、 転がり軸受けの一 例であるリニアガイド 5 3 2が取り付けられている。 直動ステージ 5 2 0は、 リニ ァガイド 5 3 1とリニアガイド 5 3 2により支えられ、駆動源 5 4 0により矢印 D の方向に位置決めされる。 また、 直動ステージ 5 2 0は、 下側に磁性板 6 2 0を備 X·る。
次に、図 9および図 1 0を参照する。図 9は、図 8における E— E断面図である。 図 1 0は、図 9における F— F断面図である。図 9において、図 8と同一の要素は、 同一の参照番号が付されている。 また、 図 1 0において、 図 9と同一の要素は、 同 一の参照番号が付されている。 さて、 スピンスタンド 5 0 0は、 固定装置 7 0 0を 備える。 固定装置 7 0 0は、 電磁石 7 1 0と電磁石 7 5◦とを用いて、 直動ステー ジ 5 2 0をベース 5 1 0に固定する装置である。 電磁石 7 1 0は、 磁性板 6 1 1と 磁性板 6 2 0とに吸着して一体ィ匕し、 電磁石 7 5 0は、 磁性板 6 1 2と磁性板 6 2 0とに吸着して一体ィ匕する。 固定装置 7 0 0は、 それらの一体化により回転ステー ジ 1 4 0をベース 1 1 0に固定する。
電磁石 7 1 0は、 板バネ 7 2 0を介してベース 5 1 0に取り付けられている。 電 磁石 7 5 0は、 板パネ 7 6 0を介してベース 5 1 0に取り付けられている。 電磁石 7 1 0は、磁性板 6 1 1と磁性板 6 2 0とに同時に吸着できるような形状を有する。 電磁石 7 5 0は、磁性板 6 1 2と磁性板 6 2 0とに同時に吸着できるような形状を 有する。 板パネ 7 2 0は、 橋形に形成され、 その端部 7 2 1がベース 5 1 0に固定 されている。 板バネ 7 6 0は、 橋形に形成され、 ベース 5 1 0に固定されている。 また、 板バネ 7 2 0は、 電磁石 7 1 0が取り付けられている面とは反対の面に、 磁 性板 7 3 0が取り付けられている。 板パネ 7 6 0は、 電磁石 7 5 0が取り付けられ ている面とは反対の面に、 磁性板 7 7 0が取り付けられている。 磁性板 7 3 0と磁 性板 7 7 0は、 鉄製の平板である。 磁性板 7 3 0と板バネ 7 2 0とは電気的に絶縁 されている。 磁性板 7 7 0と板パネ 7 6 0とは電気的に絶縁されている。 さらに、 ベース 5 1 0には、 磁性板 7 3 0と向かい合うように、 電磁石 7 4 0が取り付けら れている。 また、 ベース 5 1 0には、 磁性板 7 7 0と向かい合うように、 電磁石 7 8 0が取り付けられている。電磁石 7 1 0、電磁石 7 4 0、電磁石 7 5 0、および、 電磁石 7 8 0は、 図示しない制御回路 Gにより、 それぞれ生じる磁力のオン/オフ や、 それぞれの磁力の大きさなどが制御される。 制御回路 G (不図示) は、 スピン スタンド 5 0 0に備えられても良いし、 外部装置として提供されても良い。
次に、 上記のように構成される固定装置 7 0 0の動作について説明する。 図 9お ょぴ図 1 0は、直動ステージ 5 2 0とベース 5 1 0とが固定されていない状態を示 している。 この状態が、 通常の状態である。 ここで、 電磁石 7 1 0および電磁石 7
5 0に電圧を印加すると、 電磁石 7 1 0は磁性板 6 1 1と磁性板 6 2 0とに磁着し、 電磁石 7 5 0は磁性板 6 1 2と磁性板 6 2 0とに磁着する。 電磁石 7 1 0、 磁性板
6 1 1、 磁性板 6 1 2、 および、 磁性板 6 2 0は、 導電性を有している。 これによ り、 電磁石 7 1 0と磁性板 6 1 1と磁性板 6 2 0と吸着状態、 および、 電磁石 7 5 0と磁性板 6 1 2と磁性板 6 2 0との吸着状態は、 第一の実施形態と同様に、 電気 的に確認することができる。 磁性板 6 2 0は直動ステージ 5 2 0に、 磁性板 6 1 1 およぴ磁性板 6 1 2はベース 5 1 0に、 それぞれ固定されているので、 直動ステー ジ 5 2 0は電磁石 7 1 0および電磁石 7 5 0を介してベース 5 1 0と一体となる ように固定される。 直動ステージ 5 2 0とベース 5 1 0と連結する電磁石 7 1 0お ょぴ電磁石 7 5 0は、 可動部分のない 1つの固体であるので.、 直動ステージ 5 2 0 とベース 5 1 0とは強力に一体ィヒされ、 安定した固定状態が得られる。 また、 固定 に伴って直動ステージ 5 2 0やベース 5 1 0に押圧が加わることもない。 また、 電 磁石 7 1 0および電磁石 7 5 0は、磁性板 6 2 0などとに吸着するまでは強い磁力 が発生し、 その吸着の後は発生する磁力を弱める。 電磁石 7 1 0および電磁石 7 5 0の吸着状態を解除する場合、電磁石 7 1 0および電磁石 7 5 0への印加電圧をゼ 口にし、電磁石 7 4 0および電磁石 7 8 0により電磁石 7 1 0および電磁石 7 5 0 を磁性板 6 2 0などから強制的に引き離す。
ところで、 第一の実施形態および第三の実施形態において、 磁性板は、 電磁石が 吸着できるような磁性体であれば良レ、ので、 鉄に限らず、 二ッケルゃコバルトなど で作られても良い。
また、 第二の実施形態において、 平滑板は、 吸着ブロックが吸着できるような滑 らかな平面を有することができれば良いので、 アルミに限らず、 鉄などの他の金属 や樹脂などで作られても良い。
さらに、 第一の実施形態から三の実施形態のそれぞれにおいて、 吸着状態の確認 は、電気的手段に限定されず、光学的手段や機械的手段を用いるようにしても良い。 またさらに、 第一の実施形態から三の実施形態のそれぞれにおいて、 吸着部分の 形状は、 平面である必要はない。
' また、 第一の実施形態から三の実施形態のそれぞれにおいて、 絶縁体は、 電気的 に絶縁する効果をする素材であれば良いので、セラミックゃゴムなどで作られても 良い。
またさらに、第一の実施形態から三の実施形態のそれぞれにおいて、固定装置は、 電磁力や負圧によらず他の吸着手段を用いても良い。

Claims

請求の範囲
1 . へッドまたはディスクを試験するためのスピンスタンドであって、ベースと、 転がり軸受けを介して前記ベースに取り付けられたステージとを備えるスピンス タンドにおいて、
前記ベースとの吸着おょぴ前記ステージとの吸着により、前記ベースおょぴ前記 ステージと一体化し、 それにより前記ステージを前記ベースに固定させ、 前記べ一 スおよぴ前記ステージとの一体化ならびに前記べ一スおよび前記ステージからの 分離が制御可能である固定装置を、
備えることを特徴とするスピンスタンド。
2 . 前記固定装置は、吸着により前記ベースと前記ステージとを連結する部分力 可動部のない固体で構成されることを特徴とする請求項 1に記載のスピンスタン ド、。
3 . さらに、 前記固定装置と前記ベースとの吸着状態、 または、 前記固定装置と 前記ステージとの吸着状態を確認する手段を備える、
ことを特徴とする請求項 1または請求項 2に記載のスピンスタンド。
4 . 前記固定装置と前記ベースとを.吸着させようとする力および前記固定装置と 前記ステージとを吸着させようとする力は、前記固定装置と前記ベースと前記ステ ージとが一体化した後は、 一体化しようとする時に比べて小さくなる、
ことを特徵とする請求項 1乃至請求項 3のいずれかに記載のスピンスタンド。
5 . 前記ステージは、 第一の磁性体を備え、
前記ベースは、 第二の磁性体を備え、
前記固定装置は、電磁力により前記第一の磁性体おょぴ前記第二の磁性体に吸着 する電磁石を備える、
ことを特徴とする請求項 1乃至請求項 4のいずれかに記載のスピンスタンド。
6 . さらに、 前記電磁石が前記第一の磁性体と前記第二の磁性体とに磁着してい る時に、前記電磁石を前記第一の磁性体と前記第二の磁性体とから分離させる手段 を備えることを特徴とする請求項 5に記載の固定装置。
7 . 前記ステージは、 第一の平滑面を備え、
前記ベースは、 第二の平滑面を備え、 前記固定装置は、 気圧の制御により、 前記第一の平滑面および前記第二の平滑面 に着脱可能なエアチヤックを備える、
ことを特徴とする請求項 1乃至請求項 4のいずれかに記載のスピンスタンド。
