- the invention relates to a method for winding up elastically compressible plates, according to which a web of material is divided into plates and a number of plates are wound up together, and to an apparatus for carrying out this method.
- the elastically compressible plates are typically glass wool plates, but other materials can also be used. Glass wool panels are currently marketed in packaging units of typically 12 stacked and somewhat compressed panels. The compression is neither high nor even because the pressure on the top and bottom plates predominantly compresses them, but the ones located further inside the stack are almost not compressed. The plate stack is therefore relatively voluminous.
- the aim of the invention is to eliminate the disadvantage mentioned above, that is to say to create a method with which a number of plates can be wound up together without the risk of the roll opening up.
- This aim is achieved according to the invention with a method of the type mentioned at the outset in that the plates are completely separated from the web, applied to an adhesive carrier film and wound up together with the latter.
- the adhering carrier film securely transports and winds up the sheets that have been completely separated from the web, whereby a compaction that is about 70% higher than can be achieved when compressing a sheet stack.

- a device which has a feed device for a web made of elastically compressible material, a cross cutter for dividing the web into plates, and a winding and packaging device with, if appropriate, a preceding compression device.
- a second cross cutter is arranged between the cross cutter and the winding and packaging device, and a film feed is provided between the two cross cutters.
- the adhesive carrier film is applied to the plates separated from the web by the film feed following the first cross cutter.
- the second sheeter then cuts the carrier film with the plates on it before the set of plates together with the carrier film reaches the winding and packaging device (if necessary beforehand, the compression device, which can be a wedge-shaped gap in the simplest way).
- a slitter can also be provided for longitudinally dividing the web (but also for bordering it on both sides).
- the first cross cutter has a cutting sequence according to which a number of equidistant cuts is reduced by one in relation to the number of plates to be wound up and a cut is made at twice the distance

- the first cross cutter cuts off a set of n-1 plates of equal length and a piece twice as long. This set of plates then gets onto the carrier film and is moved together with the latter by the second cross cutter. As soon as the last, twice as long piece with its longitudinal center under is the knife, the cut is made, resulting in a set consisting of n equally long plates adhering to the carrier film, which is fed to the compression, winding and packaging.
- the device 1 for winding up elastically compressible plates has a feed device 2 for a web 3 of an elastically compressible material.
- the feed device 2 represents the last unit of the production line, namely the hardening furnace the lane 3 makes.
- the slitter 4 is followed at a distance by a first cross cutter 5 and a second cross cutter 6, between which - below the web 3 - a film feed 7 for a carrier film 8 is arranged.
- a winding and packaging device follows in the direction of movement of the web 3 . 9, which can be preceded by a compression device 10. The latter alternative will be used if greater compression of the plates 11 separated from the web 3 by the cross cutters 5, 6 is desired than can be achieved by the winding and packaging device 9 alone.
- the web 3 made of glass wool supplied by the feed device 2 (from the hardening furnace) has a width of 1.2 m, for example, and is approximately 7.5 cm thick. It is cut in half by the slitter 4 into two strips 60 cm wide.
- the first cross cutter 5 cuts, for example, 5 x 1.2 m long plates 11 and a 2.4 m long piece. The separated plates 11 and pieces with twice the plate length are fed from the underside of the adhesive carrier film 8 through the film feed 7.
