Definitions
- the present invention relates to an arrangement of a plastic part and a metallic insert for a fastening hole of the plastic part, and a plastic part and a metallic insert therefor.
- these metallic inserts can be divided into two main types: In one main type, the insert is longer than the mounting hole. The insert must then be firmly inserted in the mounting hole. In the other main type, the insert is shorter or only a little longer than the mounting hole. The insert is then floating in the mounting hole and only needs to be secured for transport.
- the insert can be designed as an axially split socket (split pin), which is held in the fastening hole by its inherent tension.
- the insert can also be designed as a bush which is closed in the circumferential direction and is held in the fastening hole by being extrusion-coated with the plastic of the plastic part or having a corresponding hardness profile.
- the present invention has for its object to develop an arrangement of a plastic part and a metallic insert of the type specified so that it is simple and inexpensive both in terms of manufacture and assembly.
- the plastic part has a projection on the hole wall of the fastening hole in question
- the metal insert has at least one recess on its circumference, which cooperates with the projection when the insert is inserted into the fastening hole in order to hold the metal insert in the fastening hole.
- Both the protrusion of the plastic part and the recess of the metallic insert can be produced in the production of the plastic part or metallic insert without an additional manufacturing step being necessary.
- the solution according to the invention is therefore characterized by simple manufacturability and correspondingly low manufacturing costs.
- the assembly is also particularly simple, since when the metallic insert is inserted into the fastening hole of the plastic part, a connection between the projection and recess is automatically created, by means of which the metallic insert is secured in the fastening hole.
- the projection of the plastic part lies in a radial plane of the fastening hole, which serves as a mold separation plane of a two-part mold during the production of the plastic part.
- the protrusion then automatically arises, which is expediently designed as a web running in the circumferential direction.
- the projection of the plastic part is designed as a nose, which extends over less than 90 ° and is provided on a flexible section of the perforated wall.
- the resilient section is formed by an undercut and is used to pull a molding tool out of the fastening hole. This solution can be used whenever demolding on two sides is not possible during the production of the plastic part. Due to the resilient section of the perforated wall, this results in a resilient latching connection between the projection and recess.

- the mounting hole 3 is used to insert a mounting screw (not shown), which is used to attach the plastic part 1 to another part.
- the plastic part 1 is, for example, the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine, which is naturally provided with a larger number of such fastening holes.
- the plastic part 1 can also be any other part that is to be fastened by means of corresponding fastening screws.
- the continuous and substantially cylindrical mounting hole 3 is provided with a radially inwardly projecting projection 4.
- the projection 4 consists of a web which extends in the circumferential direction by 360 ° and which is arranged laterally offset from the axial center of the fastening hole 3 and at a distance from the axial ends of the fastening hole 3.
- the projection 4 has a cross section in the form of a triangle, preferably an isosceles triangle, in the axial planes of the fastening hole 3.
- the height of the projection 4 is, for example, 0.2 mm, and its distance from the underside of the fastening flange 1 of the plastic part 1 is, for example, approximately 2 mm.
- the circumferential projection 4 expediently lies in one
- the projection 4 thus arises automatically during the demolding process. Due to the draft angle of the mold, the projection 4 is at the narrowest point of the mounting hole 3, and its tolerances can be well maintained.
- the mold is also easy to create.
- a metallic insert 2 is shown, which is inserted into the mounting hole 3 of the plastic part 1, to limit the fastening forces that are transferred to the plastic part 1 during the fastening process.
- the insert 2 is formed in the illustrated embodiment as a cylindrical bushing with an inner bore indicated by dashed lines and provided on its outer circumference with two recesses 5.
- Each of the two recesses 5 is designed as a circumferential annular groove, the shape of which is adapted to the shape of the projection 4.
- the recesses 5 each have a distance from the associated axial end of the insert 2 which corresponds to the distance of the projection 4 from the underside of the plastic part 1.
- the outer diameter of the insert 2 essentially corresponds to the diameter of the fastening bore 3, and the axial length of the insert 2 essentially corresponds to the axial length of the fastening hole 3.
- the projection 4 snaps into one of the two recesses 5.
- the insert 2 is then held captively in the fastening hole 3 of the plastic part 1.
- a special insertion tool for inserting the insert 2 into the fastening hole 3 is not required here.
- the insert 2 can, as shown, be a socket which is closed in the circumferential direction. However, it can also be designed as a split pin in the longitudinal direction.
- the insert 2 is provided with two recesses 5 arranged symmetrically to the axial center.
- a return 5 can be provided. Incidentally, is the lead
- the insert 2 can be provided with only one recess 5, which then also lies in the axial center of the insert 2.
- the figures 4 to 6 show a modified embodiment of the invention. This embodiment differs from the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 3 essentially by the fact that the projection 4 does not extend in the circumferential direction by 360 °, but by less than 90 °, for example by approximately 45 °, so that it has the shape of a nose.
- the projection 4, which for example has the same cross-sectional shape as in the previous exemplary embodiment, is provided on a flexible section 6 of the hole wall of the fastening hole 3.
- the flexible section 6 is formed by an undercut 7.
- the undercut 7 consists of a recess in the material of the plastic part 1, which, with the exception of its lower end, completely separates the flexible section 6 from the rest of the plastic part 1. A type of hook thus arises, the projection 4 forming a spring-loaded latching lug.
- FIG. 5 is particularly suitable in the event that the molding tool used to produce the plastic part 1 cannot be removed from both sides.
- the undercut 7 and the resilient section ⁇ allow the mold to be pulled out of the fastening hole 3.
- the metallic insert 2 of FIG. 4 essentially corresponds to the metallic insert 2 of FIG. 1. If the insert 2 is inserted into the fastening hole 3 of the plastic part 1, the projection 4 snaps into the associated recess 5 of the insert 2. Because of the resilient support, the projection 4 and thus the recess 5 can be larger than in the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 3 are trained. A particularly secure positive locking connection between projection 4 and recess 5 is therefore obtained.
- FIGS. 7 to 9 corresponds in terms of their basic structure to the embodiment of FIGS. 4 O 03/091564
- the projection 4 and the recesses 5 are provided at one axial end of the mounting hole 3 or at the two axial ends of the insert 2.
- the recesses 5 are designed as simple chamfers.
- the shape of the projection 4 again formed as a nose corresponds to the shape of the chamfers, i. that is, the protrusion 4 in FIG. 8 effectively forms one half of the protrusion 4 in FIG. 5.
- FIGS. 10 to 12 corresponds in terms of their basic structure again to the embodiment of FIGS. 4 to 6.
- the recess 5 is formed by a reduced-diameter section of the insert 2, on the two axial ends of which a radial shoulder 8 is provided.
- the insert 2 is also provided with a chamfer at both of its axial ends.
- the projection 4 in FIG. 11 is designed as a sharp-edged nose with a radial contact surface 9 and an obliquely running rear side.

Description
Beschreibung
Fig. 1 eine Seitenansicht eines metallischen Einsatzes;
Fig. 2 einen Schnitt durch einen Abschnitt eines Kunststoff- teils mit einem Befestigungsloch für den Einsatz in Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 eine Draufsicht auf das Kunststoffteil in Fig. 2;
Fign. 4 bis 6 den Fign. 1 bis 3 entsprechende Ansichten einer abgewandelten Ausführungsform der Erfindung;
Fign. 7 bis 9 den Fign. 1 bis 3 entsprechende Ansichten einer weiteren Ausführungsform der Erfindung;
Fign.
