Definitions

  • the present invention generally relates to a pallet assembly for rubber material, which is used to load chip- sized natural rubber for transportation and storage purposes .
  • Natural rubber which is employed for manufacturing automotive tires, and bushings and oil seals of various industrial machines, is produced in specific countries and traded in a state wherein it is loaded in a pallet of a standardized size. After production, the natural rubber is loaded in the pallet at a high temperature of about 60° C. The natural rubber loaded in this way is left in a warehouse or outdoors for a predetermined period of time until air contained in the natural rubber is completely discharged to the outside and thereby the natural rubber is fully contracted.
  • a pallet used for transportation and storage of natural rubber has a structure including a loading plate and a quadrangular frame, if moisture and foreign matters are mixed in the natural rubber upon loading and transportation thereof, properties of the natural rubber may be changed while manufacturing a product, whereby a high quality of products cannot be accomplished and a defective proportion is increased.
  • a wooden pallet or a metal pallet which is currently used is inadequate for transportation and storage purposes.
  • a lifetime is short, workability and safety are minimal, and it can give rise to contamination of the natural rubber by the wood itself, for example with splinters.
  • Upon incinerating the wooden pallet for disposal at the consumption end of the supply chain a substantial amount of noxious substances including dioxin, etc. are generated, thereby causing environmental pollution.
  • disinfection is strictly required by customs regulations.
  • Korean Patent No. 305427 entitled "Pallet for Natural Rubber” a typical example of a metal pallet, which is provided to cope with the problems of the wooden pallet, is disclosed in Korean Patent No. 305427 entitled "Pallet for Natural Rubber" .
  • This metal pallet is fabricated by welding steel plates to inner side surfaces and an inner bottom surface of a quadrangular frame.
  • the metal pallet has problems in that a weight is increased, manipulation thereof becomes difficult, and a distribution cost is increased.
  • a locking mechanism for securely connecting side frame elements to each other has a two-touch type structure, workability and safety cannot but be deteriorated. Further, in the case where the metal pallet is used for an extended period of time, rust may be created due to corrosion of the steel plates.
  • an object of the present invention is to provide a pallet assembly for rubber material, which has a sufficient strength and a light weight, is easy to manipulate and contributes to reduction of a distribution cost, and in which an operation of a locking mechanism is executed in a one-touch pattern . in such a way as to improve workability and safety.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide a pallet assembly for rubber material, which prevents a dewing phenomenon from occurring even in the wintertime and eliminates a corrosion possibility, whereby changes in properties of the rubber material due to mixing of foreign matters in the rubber material are not caused in the course of loading and transporting the natural rubber, and a defective proportion is decreased upon manufacturing products.
  • a pallet assembly for rubber material comprising: a loading platform having a support base, first hollow aluminum panels which are arranged on the support base and each of which has a plurality of spaces defined therein, and a quadrangular framework which is fastened to the support base to securely maintain the first hollow aluminum panels with respect to the support base and defined with a quadrangular channel on an upper surface thereof; a quadrangular frame fitted at a lower end thereof into the quadrangular channel of the loading platform to be detachably assembled to the loading platform and having four frame elements, four first vertical bars made of aluminum and four second vertical bars made of aluminum, each frame element being formed by second hollow aluminum panels which are coupled one with another and each of which has a plurality of spaces defined therein, the first vertical bars being defined with first grooves into which both ends of first two frame elements opposing to each other are fitted, the second vertical bars being defined with second grooves into which both ends of second two frame elements opposing to each other are fitted and accommodating grooves in which
  • four engaging grooves are defined adjacent to corners, respectively, of the quadrangular framework so that they are communicated with the quadrangular channel
  • four engaging projections are formed adjacent to lower ends of the second vertical bars in a manner such that they can be respectively engaged into the engaging grooves of the quadrangular framework.
  • Portions of the second vertical bars are cut out adjacent to the lower ends of the second vertical bars to define inclined surfaces so as to ensure that, when the second two frame elements are pivoted outward about the engaging projections, the first two frame elements can be fitted into and removed from the quadrangular channel defined in the quadrangular framework between the second two frame elements .
  • each locking mechanism installed on the second frame element comprises a plate member which has a guide housing and a guide pipe, a locking pin having an engaging rod portion which is guided through the guide pipe so as to be extended into the accommodating groove and thereby be inserted into an insertion hole defined in a portion of the first frame element which portion is fitted into the first vertical bar, a pin bracket arranged in the guide housing, a spring placed between the locking pin and the pin bracket, and a handle pivotably connected to the pin bracket via a link by means of two pins and to the plate member by means of a separate pin in a manner such that a direction in which biasing force of the spring is applied to the handle can be inverted when the handle is pivoted by a predetermined angle from a locking position toward an unlocking position, whereby locking and unlocking operations are performed.
  • a loading platform and a quadrangular frame are made of aluminum and panels are formed to have a plurality of spaces therein, a pallet assembly has a sufficient strength and a light weight, and since an operation of a locking mechanism for locking first and second frame elements to each other is executed in a one-touch pattern, workability and safety are improved. Also, because a heat conservation characteristic is improved due to the presence of the spaces defined in the panels, it is possible to prevent a dewing phenomenon from occurring even in the wintertime.
