Similarly, locking of flanged end portion 1 1 ' is obtained through screws 16 engaging in arm 2 of the brake pedal.
  • a piston 40 is inserted within the axial cavity of cylinder 1 1 and has a portion 40" projecting from cylinder 11 so as to retain, through flanged end 40', rod 6 which is pivotally mounted onto piston 40.
  • a gas generating device 30 is also inserted within the axial cavity of cylinder 11, on the opposite side with respect to piston 40.
  • Gas generating device 30 may be one of the well known devices used, for instance, in safety belt pretensioning devices or in air bags of vehicles. Said gas generating devices comprise a chamber containing a compound in which, upon the passage of an electric current, a chemical reaction resulting in gas generation is started.

  • an electrically operated valve can be provided which, upon operation of mechanism 10, will keep the hydraulic circuit of the braking system pressurised, thereby preventing the operation of mechanism 10 from resulting in the release of the vehicle brakes.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne une pédale de sécurité pour véhicules automobiles. Cette pédale de sécurité comprend un bras (2) auquel est connectée, de façon rotative, une tige de commande (6) destinée à un dispositif permettant de commander l'entraînement du véhicule. Cette pédale est pourvue d'un mécanisme permettant à ladite tige (6) de se libérer dudit bras (2).
