Abstract

Cette invention concerne des polariseurs de lumière, et peut être utilisée dans des affichages à cristaux liquides plats, y compris ceux du type projecteurs, ainsi que dans des appareils d'éclairage, des modulateurs optiques, des systèmes matriciels de modulation de la lumière et dans la production de produits de consommation courante de type lunettes ou écrans de protection. Cette invention a pour but de créer des films polymères de polariseurs hautement efficaces à partir de colorants dichroïques colorés, lesquels polariseurs possèdent une grande stabilité thermique ainsi qu'une bonne résistance contre l'action de l'humidité. Lors de la fabrication du polariseur, on utilise au moins un colorant dichroïque qui se présente sous forme d'un sel mélangé organique et/ou asymétrique d'un colorant anionique dichroïque, y compris une structure polymère et/ou un associé de colorant dichroïque comprenant un ion tensioactif et/ou une substance tensioactive amphotérique. L'utilisation d'un colorant dichroïque dans l'une au moins des formes susmentionnées permet d'améliorer les caractéristiques de polarisation, et de former un polariseur sans défaut et hautement efficace, y compris du type négatif, qui possède une grande stabilité thermique ainsi qu'une bonne résistance contre l'action de l'humidité.
