Definitions
- the present invention relates to an automatic braking system of an elevator car intended to stop it when it reaches or exceeds a limit speed of movement inside an elevator shaft.
- Such automatic braking systems are already known which generally consist of a stopping mechanism comprising a stopping pulley intended to be driven in rotation at the same time as said cabin is moving. Said stop pulley is designed to rotate freely when its speed of rotation is less than a threshold speed of rotation and to lock when its speed of rotation is equal to or greater than said threshold speed of rotation. They also include a mechanism for controlling the action of said brakes when said stop pulley is blocked.
- FIG. 1 An elevator installation which is equipped with a braking system according to the known state of the art.
- This installation essentially consists of an elevator car 10 which is moved between the different floors of an elevator shaft (not shown), for example by means of a
- the elevator car 10 is guided in its movement by lateral rails extending vertically in the elevator shaft and on which the car 10 is supported by guides 31. For the sake of clarity, only one of these rails 30 has been shown in FIG. 1.
- the elevator car 10 includes a control mechanism 11 provided for controlling the action of the brakes 12 and 13 shown here diagrammatically in the form of simple wedges.
- the brakes 12 and 13 generally act on the rails 30 of the elevator car 10.
- These brakes 12 and 13 are also known in the technical field under the name of "parachute clamp". They act one in one direction of movement of the cabin 10, the other in the other direction.
- the automatic braking system comprises a stop pulley 50 which is mounted on the masonry in the upper part of the elevator shaft and an endless cable 60 wound between the stop pulley 50 and a return pulley 51
- the endless cable 60 is stretched by means of a tension mass 52 urging the return pulley 51.
- a control mechanism 53 is, on the one hand, fixed on the endless cable 60 and, on the other hand, on the cabin 53. In normal operation, that is to say when the speed of movement of the cabin 10 is less than a speed limit, the cabin 10 drives the cable 60. The mechanism 53 is not stressed and therefore does not act on the control mechanism 11 of the brakes 12 and 13.
- the stop pulley 50 is blocked and the cable 60 is immobilized.
- the mechanism 53 is stressed because it is, on one side, immobilized by the cable 60 and, on the other side, secured to the cabin 10, which still moves. This action of the mechanism 53 has the effect of controlling the control mechanism 11 which then acts on the brakes 12 and 13. These in turn act on the rails 30, which has the effect of immobilizing the cabin 10.
- the object of the present invention is to propose a braking system which does not have the drawbacks of the braking systems of the prior art, in particular those which have been set out above, and which is consequently of a reduced size by compared to those of the prior art and which is not mounted on the same piece of masonry as that on which the drive motor rests.
- said stop mechanism is mounted on said cabin, said stop mechanism or a part thereof being provided for, in reaction to the displacement of said cabin when said pulley d stop is blocked, move relative to said cabin in a direction substantially parallel to the direction of said cabin.
- Said control mechanism then acts on said brakes when said stop mechanism or said part of it moves relative to said cabin.
- said stop pulley is driven by a control cable which is suspended vertically in the elevator shaft and which passes through its groove.
- said stop mechanism comprises two pulleys, one of which is said stop pulley, said control cable having its upper vertical strand which passes through the lower part of a first groove of one of said pulleys, then passing through the groove of the second pulley and then passing through the upper part of the second groove of said first pulley.
- Said first pulley can then constitute the part of the stop mechanism which, in reaction to the movement of said cabin when said stop pulley is blocked, moves relative to said cabin.
- said stop mechanism comprises at least two pulleys, one of which is said stop pulley, said control cable passing through each of said grooves of said pulleys.
- Said upstream pulley and said downstream pulley constitute the part of the stop mechanism which, in reaction to the movement of said cabin when said stop pulley is blocked, moves relative to said cabin.
- said stop mechanism or said part of said stop mechanism are mounted at the end of a pivoting arm, said arm moving away from its rest position biasing the control mechanism which then acts on said brakes.
- said stop mechanism or said part of said stop mechanism are mounted on slides extending substantially in the direction of movement of said cabin, said slide moving away from its position of rest stressing the control mechanism which then acts on said brakes.
- said stop mechanism or said part of said stop mechanism are provided with a retractable rod which can, when it is not retractable, come into contact with stops provided in said elevator shaft, which has the effect of displacing said stop mechanism or said part of said stop mechanism relative to said car and urging said control mechanism which then acts on said brakes.
- FIG. 1 is a schematic view of an elevator installation provided with an automatic braking system according to the state of the art
- FIG. 2 is a schematic view of an elevator installation provided with an automatic braking system according to a first embodiment of the present invention, said arm known as the stop mechanism being in its rest position,
- Fig. 3 is a schematic view of an elevator installation provided with an automatic braking system according to the first embodiment of the present invention, said arm known as the stop mechanism being in a working position,
- Fig. 4 is a schematic view of an elevator installation provided with an automatic braking system according to the second embodiment of the present invention
- Fig. 5 is a schematic view of an elevator installation provided with an automatic braking system according to the third embodiment of the present invention
- Fig. 6 is a schematic view of an elevator installation which is identical to that of FIG. 2 and which further comprises a safety device.
- the elevator installation shown in FIG. 2 essentially consists of an elevator car 10 which is moved between the different stages of an elevator shaft (not shown), for example by means of machinery 20 acting on a traction cable or a harness cables 21 and having a counterweight 22.
- This machinery 20 is for example mounted on the masonry constituting the upper part of the elevator car.
- the elevator car 10 is guided in its movement by lateral guides extending vertically in the elevator shaft. For the sake of clarity, only one of these rails 30 has been shown.
- the elevator car 10 comprises a control mechanism 11 (shown diagrammatically by a simple dotted line) provided for controlling the action of brakes 12 and 13 shown schematically in FIG. 2 in the form of corners.
- the brakes 12 and 13 act on the guides of the elevator car 10. These brakes 12 and 13 are also known in the technical field under the name of "parachute clamp". They act one in one direction of movement of the cabin 10, the other in the other direction.
- the elevator car 10 comprises a stop mechanism 40 constituted here by a stop pulley 41 and a return pulley 42.
- the stop pulley 41 is of the type which rotates freely as long as its speed of rotation does not exceed a threshold speed, and which is blocked when its speed of rotation exceeds said threshold speed of rotation.
- ie system 40 is mounted under the cabin 10, for example on the chassis thereof. However, it will be understood, in particular subsequently, that it could be mounted, for example on the same chassis, in the upper part of the cabin 10, or elsewhere as soon as it is integral with the cabin 10.
- a control cable 60 which extends vertically in the elevator shaft in which said elevator car 10 operates, passes through the lower part of a first groove of the return pulley 42, then passes through the groove of the stop pulley 41 in order to be able to drive it in rotation at the same time as the car 10 moves in the elevator shaft, and finally, in the upper part of a second groove of the deflection pulley 42.
- Its lower end comprises a system tension such as a mass 61 (or a spring or other), while its upper end is connected to the ceiling of the sheath via an elastic system 62.
- the tension mass 61 and the elastic system 62 are designed to ensure the tension of the control cable of 60.
- the return pulley 42 is mounted to rotate freely at the free end of an arm 43 provided to pivot around a pivot axis 44.
- the stop pulleys 41 and return 42 have parallel axes of rotation between them and parallel to the pivot axis 44 of the arm 43.
- the arm 43 acts on the control mechanism 11 in the following manner.
- the control mechanism 11 When the arm 43 is in a substantially horizontal position, called the rest position, like that which is shown in FIG. 2, the control mechanism 11 is not stressed and the brakes 12 and 13 are inactive. On the other hand, when it takes an inclined position, called the working position, in one direction or another, the mechanism 11 is acted upon, which has the effect of activating the brakes 12 and 13, thus stopping the cabin 10 on its rails 30.
- the arm 43 can be constrained in this rest position, for example by means of elastic elements, such as springs (not shown).
- elastic elements such as springs (not shown).
- the speed of rotation of the stop pulley 41 becomes greater than its threshold speed of rotation. Consequently, it is blocked, making it impossible for the control cable 60 to travel in the stop mechanism 40.
- the deflection pulley 42 is then immobilized with respect to the control cable 60 and with respect to the sheath (with the closest movement cable 60 enabled by elastic means 62).
- the arm 43 pivots about its pivot axis 44. This results in an action on the control mechanism 11, which has the effect of blocking the brakes 12 and 13 on the rails 30.
- the elevator car 10 is then stopped.
- the stop pulleys 41 and return 42 together constitute a stop mechanism
- the arm 43 constitutes a means authorizing the displacement of the stop mechanism 40 or a part of it.
- mechanism 40 in the direction of advancement of the cabin 10 when the control cable 60 is blocked by the stop pulley 41, and the cabin 10, by inertia, still exhibits movement.
- stop mechanism 40 could comprise a plurality of pulleys (at least two), one of which would be a stop pulley 41, and at least one other would be mounted so as to be able to move in the direction of advancement of the cabin, for example at the end of an arm such as the arm 43 ..
- the upstream pulley that which receives the upper vertical strand
- the downstream pulley that which returns the lower vertical strand
- the return pulley 42 is a pulley with two grooves provided, on the one hand, for receiving the upper vertical strand of the cable 60 and returning it to the stop pulley 41 and, on the other hand, for receiving the strand coming from the stop pulley 41 and to return it as a lower vertical strand.
- FIG. 4 an alternative embodiment has been shown where the arm 43 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 is replaced by a slide 46 parallel to the direction of advancement of the cabin 10 in which the axis of rotation 47 of the return pulley 42 can move when the control cable 60 is blocked in the pulley stop 41.
- the return pulley 42 is shown in its rest position in which the axis of rotation is substantially in the center of the slide 46. The mechanism 11 is stressed when the axis 47 is no longer in its central rest position , but is removed from it.
- Fig. 5 is an alternative embodiment which comprises two pulleys 42a and 42b which are mounted free in rotation at the ends of a slide 48 provided to be able to move in translation in a direction parallel to the direction of movement of the elevator car 10.
- the slide 48 is for this purpose mounted in a slide 49 extending vertically in the direction of advancement of the cabin 10.
- the slide 48 is here shown in its rest position. It will be noted that the embodiments shown are provided for triggering the action of the brakes 12 and 13 when the cabin 10 reaches or exceeds a limit speed fixed by the stop pulley 41, regardless of the direction of movement of cabin 10. It will be understood that in all the examples shown, the stop pulley 41 could be replaced by a return pulley 42, 42a or 42b, and that it would then be replaced by a return pulley.
- FIG. 6 there is shown an elevator installation which is identical to that already shown in FIG. 2 and which further comprises a safety device 90.
- This safety device 90 consists essentially of a rod 91 which is retractable under the action of a control device such as an electromagnet 92, which is mounted on the pivoting arm 43.
- the retractable position of the rod 91 is shown in strong lines, while its extended position is shown in dotted lines.
- the rod 91 When the rod 91 is in the non-retracted position, it can come into contact with one or more stops 93 which are provided in the sheath of the elevator. On the other hand, in the retracted position, it cannot come into contact with these stops 93.
