Abstract
The invention concerns a watch crystal provided with a permanent mark and a watch comprising such a crystal. In order to produce said mark, the crystal (10) includes in its thickness (e) a series of impact points (12) arranged to form a pattern (11) without modification of the inner (13) and outer (14) surface condition. Each impact point (12) is obtained by means of a laser beam focused on a point located in the crystal thickness. The beam energy, concentrated in one point, produces at this point a modification of the crystal structure of the material, said modification causing a change in the appearance of the material. Said permanent mark can be produced in any watch crystal, in particular made of mineral or synthetic glass, or sapphire, for decorative, personalization or security purposes.
Description
GLACE DE MONTRE POURVUE D'UN MARQUAGE ET MONTRE EQUIPEE D'UNE TELLE GLACEWATCH ICE WITH MARKING AND WATCH PROVIDED WITH SUCH ICE
Technical Field The present invention relates to a watch crystal provided with an indelible marking.
It also relates to a watch equipped with a crystal provided with an indelible marking.
The crystals of watches, in particular known wristwatches, are made of synthetic or mineral glass, diamond or any other transparent material. For different reasons these glasses can be marked by engraving. The marking can correspond to a trade mark, a serial number to identify a production, a purely aesthetic decoration, a personalized code affixed to allow identification in the event of theft or any other application. Whatever its use, this marking is obtained by engraving the surface of the glass on its outer face or on its inner face. The engraving technique used may vary depending on the application. All the methods going from mechanical engraving to chemical engraving via laser engraving can a priori be considered.
Surface marking has drawbacks which are both aesthetic and functional. Indeed, the engraving partially destroys the surface condition of the crystal, which makes the feel unpleasant when the marking is done outside. Etching by removing material can weaken the glass and make it brittle. Furthermore, this marking is not indelible, so that it cannot offer an absolute guarantee with a view to completely certain identification. These drawbacks are completely unacceptable on high-end watches. As a result, the method of marking by a code intended to allow the identification of a high-value stolen watch, as it was proposed a few years ago, has not met with real commercial success, although 'it is of real interest, especially for insurance companies.
Exposé de l'inventionStatement of the invention
The present invention proposes to overcome these drawbacks by proposing a watch crystal and a watch fitted with such a crystal which has no roughness on any of its faces and which has an indelible marking which may be visible or invisible to the eye. bare.

The present invention will be better understood with reference to the description of a preferred embodiment and the attached drawings given by way of non-limiting example and in which:

la figure 3 représente une vue agrandie d'une série d'impacts ponctuels réalisés dans l'épaisseur de la matière d'une glace de montre, etFIG. 3 represents an enlarged view of a series of punctual impacts made in the thickness of the material of a watch crystal, and
la figure 4 représente une vue agrandie du motif de la glace de la figure 1.FIG. 4 represents an enlarged view of the pattern of the glass of FIG. 1.
Meilleure manière de réaliser l'inventionBest way to realize the invention
Referring to Figures 1 and 2, a watch glass 10, made of synthetic or mineral glass, diamond or any other transparent material has a pattern 11 made in the thickness e of said glass. This pattern 11 is composed of a series of punctual impacts 12 juxtaposed. These impacts having a star shape are obtained by means of a laser beam which is focused at a point located in the thickness of the ice without the surface condition of its inner 13 and outer 14 faces being changed. The energy of beam, concentrated at one point, makes it possible to modify at this point the crystalline structure of the material in which the ice is produced and thus to create an opaque or less transparent impact zone, which makes it visible. This modified zone, depending on its importance, can be visible either with the naked eye or by means of a magnifying glass. Depending on the energy and the focusing of the beam used, it is possible to vary the depth of the point impact in the thickness e of the glass 10. Therefore the point impact points 12 can be located at different levels.
As shown in FIG. 3, the distance d between two adjacent point impacts 12 is substantially equal to the sum of the cross section a of an impact and an interval i which constitutes a safety margin avoiding overlapping or at least one direct juxtaposition of two neighboring impacts. The interval i is preferably different from zero to avoid that the achievement of close impacts does not cause embrittlement of the ice.
The formation of the pattern 11, such as for example the logo represented by FIG. 4, is obtained by the creation of a succession of punctual impacts 12 ordered in an appropriate manner. As mentioned earlier, ad hoc impacts can occur on different levels. They could also be directly juxtaposed so that a succession of impacts appears as a solid line.
It is understood that the motif represented can have a purely aesthetic function or define a marking for commercial purposes. This pattern visible or invisible to the naked eye can also constitute a personalized identification code intended to characterize the object in the event of theft. This identification code by marking may also consist of only one impact positioned at a predetermined location in the ice.
The fact of being able to equip a watch with such an indelibly marked crystal, since the marking is embedded in the material and is therefore not accessible, and without affecting the surface condition of this ice has many advantages both in terms of aesthetics and counterfeiting.
