Abstract

The invention concerns a watch-glass with an indelible marking, as well as a watch fitted with such glass. To achieve this marking, the glass (10) includes, in it thickness (e), a series of pinpoint impacts (12) arranged to form a design (11) without the surface condition of it internal (13) or external (14) faces being modified. Each impact (12) is achieved by means of a laser beam which is focused on a point located in the thickness of the glass. The energy of the beam, concentrated on a point, causes a modification of the crystalline structure of matter at this point, and this structural modification leads to a change in appearance of the matter. This indelible marking can be made in whatever type of watch-glass, particularly mineral or synthetic glass, or glasses in sapphire, designed for decoration, personal identification and for reasons of security.
