Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a filling comprising a polyester fibre. More particularly it relates to an improved polyester fibre containing filling for use where thermal properties and/or breathability are important, such as in the soft furnishings industry, where it may be used as a filling for bedding, for example duvets, pillows, mattress protectors and sleeping bags or in the clothing industry where it may be used as a filling for coats, anoraks, and the like, particularly ski and winter wear.
  • Polyester fibre usually polyethyleneterephthalate, is an inexpensive alternative to down or feathers. However it lacks breathability. In an attempt to improve the characteristics of a filling comprising polyester fibre, the polyester fibre has been blended with natural materials such as, for example, cotton, silk, down and feather.
  • cellulosic fibres obtained by an organic solvent spinning process and in particular one in which the organic solvent is N-methyl morpholine oxide (NMMO) e.g. lyocell, when blended (in contrast to woven) with a polyester filling fibre such as, for example, polyethyleneterephthalate gives rise to a product with improved characteristics including improved breathability compared to a polyester filling fibre alone.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne une matière de rembourrage contenant de la fibre de polyester. Plus particulièrement, elle concerne une fibre de polyester améliorée pour matière de rembourrage, qui s'utilise dans des applications pour lesquelles des propriétés thermiques et/ou de respirabilité sont importantes, telles que dans l'industrie de l'ameublement où elle peut être utilisée comme matière de rembourrage d'articles de literie (duvets, coussins, protège-matelas ou sacs de couchage), ou dans l'industrie du vêtement où elle peut être utilisée comme matière de rembourrure pour vestes, anoraks, etc., en particulier pour des vêtements de ski ou d'hiver. La fibre de polyester, et plus généralement le polyéthylènetéréphtalate, est une matière qui se substitue au duvet et à la plume à moindre coût, sans toutefois en avoir les qualités de respirabilité. Pour tenter d'améliorer les caractéristiques d'une matière de rembourrage contenant de la fibre de polyester, cette dernière a été mélangée avec des matières naturelles telles que, par exemple, le coton, la soie, le duvet ou la plume. L'amélioration consiste à mélanger le polyester avec de la fibre cellulosique obtenue par un travail de filature au solvant organique pour produire un mélange non tissé présentant des propriétés thermiques et/ou de respirabilité améliorées. Ce mélange non tissé peut être confectionné sous la forme de balles de fibre, ou d'une matière de ouatage, de garnissage, de bourrage ou de remplissage.
