Abstract

On détecte des contrefaçons de billets de banque en dirigeant de la lumière ultraviolette provenant d'une source (2) sur un échantillon et en mesurant la quantité de lumière ultraviolette réfléchie par l'échantillon à l'aide d'une première cellule photoélectrique (104), et la quantité de lumière fluorescente produite par l'échantillon à l'aide d'une deuxième cellule photoélectrique (106). Les quantités mesurées sont comparées à des niveaux de référence et si les deux critères relatifs à la réflexion et à la fluorescence sont satisfaits, alors le billet de banque est considéré comme authentique. Pendant la vérification l'échantillon repose sur une plaque (102) de verre. L'appareil se fonde sur le valeur de l'intensité de la lumière réfléchie par la plaque de verre (en l'absence d'un échantillon) pour produire au moins un niveau de référence qui permet ensuite d'effectuer une comparaison.
