Definitions

  • the invention relates to a plastic closure cap according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • closure caps have become established particularly in the beverage industry for closing single-use or reusable bottles.
  • the cap jacket of such a closure is usually provided with a thread which can be brought into engagement with a thread on the bottle neck. Snap locks or locks with multiple threads and the like are also known.
  • the inner part which projects approximately cylindrically from the cap base, carries a seal which, when the closure cap is applied to a container, engages with the inner wall of the container neck in order to seal the container.

  • This extension of the inner part forms a sealing zone and serves as a guide element.

  • the interconnected sealing lips provided in the invention can be pivoted by the hinge part when placed on a container mouth such that they adapt optimally to the container opening.
  • the two sealing lips can be arranged so that one of the sealing lips has a smaller outside diameter than the inside diameter of the container before pivoting. In this way, at least one of the seals can be inserted into the neck of the container without touching notches, burrs or fractures at the upper edge of the mouth of the container and thereby being damaged. Only after the seal with the smaller diameter has been introduced is the overall arrangement of the two sealing lips pivoted about the hinge part by the second sealing lip, as soon as it comes into engagement with the container neck.

After complete placement, as shown in FIG. 6, on the one hand the inner sealing lip 5 is pressed firmly outwards against the wall of the container neck 12. On the other hand, the outer sealing lip 6 is clamped between the inner part 4 and the container neck 12, so that a sealing effect also results in this area, even if the lower edge of the sealing lip 6 has been damaged by notches or burrs during insertion. This damage is also minimized by the arrangement according to the invention because the sealing lip 6 rolls practically on the damage when the two sealing lips 5 and 6 pivot outwards about the hinge part 8.
  • the invention can be adapted as desired to special mouth configurations.
  • the pivotability of the sealing lips around the hinge part ensures practically independent of the elasticity of the sealing lips, an optimal adaptation to the container neck.
  • two, three or more sealing lips can be provided.
  • the inner part can be made longer or shorter depending on the mouth.
