Definitions

  • the present invention relates to apparatus for washing workshop products, comprising a housing containing at least one container with washing liquid and a device for carrying and moving the products between an upper position in which said products are fed into and out of the housing via an opening closable by means of a hatch, and at least one lower position in which the products are immersed in the washing liquid, said device comprising a fixture in the housing for receiving the products, an arm comprising an inner portion to which the fixture is mounted, and an outer portion having a centre line, a bearing means for pivotable journalling of the arm at its outer portion, and a first drive means connected to the outer portion of the arm to turn the arm about an axis of rotation coinciding with the centre line of the outer portion so that the fixture with products is moved in a circle arc between said two positions.
  • Washing apparatuses of the type described above are generally used in the workshop industry for washing products of various shapes and sizes. They are open at the top and have a stand carrying a fixture for the products.
  • the stand is movable along guides mounted in the roof or on a wall of a top structure on the washing apparatus itself.
  • the fixture in turn is movable along guides in the stand, enabling it to be lowered into the washing space of the apparatus.
  • bearings and sliding surfaces come into contact with the washing liquid and are therefore washed cleaned of oil and fat, thereby increasing the need for servicing.
  • Position indicators and other sensors are mounted in the washing space and are therefore also subjected to washing liquid and impurities from the products. Their function therefore gradually deteriorates, resulting in numerous stoppages.
  • Another drawback is that the top structure increases the total height of the washing equipment and must therefore ususally be dismantled to enable the washing apparatus to be transported through a gateway or similar opening in an industrial building.
  • the object of the present invention is to substantially reduce the above-mentioned drawbacks and provide a completely closed washing apparatus which has the power sources (motors) of the drive means and most of the power transmission located outside the washing space; which has certain position indicators located outside the washing chamber and other position indicators enclosed in functional construction parts inside the washing chamber; which is free from open journalling and sliding surfaces inside the apparatus; and which is compact, i.e. it has low structural height to be moved through gateways and the like without having to be dismantled.
  • the washing apparatus is substantially characterized in that said arm is angled and also includes a connection portion which is rigidly joined to the inner and outer portions of the angled arm, said outer portion extending through a side wall of the housing, said bearing means being mounted at said side wall and said first drive means being disposed on the outside of the housing; that the angled arm is hollow; that the device for moving the fixture includes a second drive means for rotating the fixture; and that the second drive means comprises a power source disposed outside the housing, and transmission means which are enclosed and journalled in the angled arm and connected to the power source and the fixture.
