Abstract

Jauge de niveau de carburant ou de liquide à fibres optiques déterminant le niveau de liquide par mesure de la quantité de perte de lumière due au transfert évanescent vers le carburant ou le liquide. Une fibre optique est supportée dans le réservoir de carburant ou de liquide, une première extrémité adjacente au niveau de liquide le plus élevé possible à mesurer, un réflecteur se situant au niveau de la première extrémité. La fibre optique s'étend vers le bas dans le réservoir, et sa seconde extrémité est connectée à une source de lumière afin d'injecter de la lumière dans la fibre. On compare l'intensité de la lumière entrée à l'intensité de lumière réfléchie par la première extrémité de la fibre, et on calcule le niveau de liquide à partir de la perte de lumière. La jauge présente une fiabilité très élevée puisqu'elle ne comporte pas de parties mécaniques mobiles.
