Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect physical quantity stably and safely at a high accuracy by converting it into a light attenuation level. CONSTITUTION:Two lenses 1 and 3 made by cutting refraction distributing type lens are put together with an adhesive 2 with a given refractive index to form a light damping element D. A similar refraction distributing lens 4 is bonded on the incident end of the lens 3 in such a manner as to be opposite to each other in the circular arc section and supported together on a holding base 10. When a displacement level of an object to be detected is applied to a displacement level probe 11, the position of the optical axis of the light damping element D varies with respect to optical fibers 6-8 and light enters the optical fiber 6 and taken off through the optical fibers 7 and 8. Thus, the displacement level is detected depending on the changes in the quantity of the reflected light and the transmitted light individually thereby enabling the detection of physical quantity stably and safely at a high accuracy.
