Abstract

Une couche anti-usure est vaporisée sur une tête d'enregistrement magnétique du genre se sustentant sur un coussin d'air au-dessus d'une surface de disque en rotation. Le fait de mettre une couche d'usure sur la surface portée par le coussin d'air réduit la friction entre la tête et le disque, prolongeant ainsi la vie du disque et de la tête. Dans le mode de réalisation préféré, une couche de chrome d'une épaisseur de 50 A (19) est vaporisée directement sur la surface portée par le coussin d'air et une couche de carbone d'une épaisseur de 200 A (21) est vaporisée sur la couche de chrome. Des tests ont démontré que la durée de vie d'un disque augmente de 50% grâce à l'utilisation d'une tête avec une telle couche anti-usure.
