Definitions

  • the invention relates to a harness for windsurfing with a hook fastened to shoulder straps and a chest strap via a base plate, which can be attached to both sides of the boom of the windsurfer with both ends of attached ropes or the like, the belt are connected to a padded, large back part and the hook sits on the surfer's chest with the harness attached.
  • Such trapezoidal belts have generally been known as "Hawaiian trapezes" since about 197 . 6 known (see, for example, Windsurfing magazine SURF July 1980, pages 46 ff.)
  • Known trapeze belts usually consist of a canvas or the like, optionally padded back part with two braces-like shoulder straps, which are brought together with a chest strap to form a base plate, usually made of metal, on which the hook for hanging on the boom or the rope attached to it.
  • the known trapezoidal gears may have at least one Chest strap has a quick release buckle to clear the harness in the event of a fall. When the harness is on, the hook lies approximately at the lower end of the breastbone. It is also known to equip such trapeze belts on the back part with a small backpack in order to be able to take spare parts, money, car keys or the like with them.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a trapezoidal belt of the type set out above, which ensures a better distribution of the forces applied and therefore avoids the disadvantages inherent in the prior art.
  • this object is essentially achieved in that the back part is provided with a rigid reinforcement that is adapted to the body cross section, and that at least the chest strap is connected to the reinforcement.
  • the invention achieves the particular advantage that all the forces exerted on the trapezoidal belt are transmitted to the body over a large area and that this means that the stiffening y the fastening points of the chest strap are kept substantially constant in their distance from one another, and constriction of the chest is no longer possible.
  • the invention can be further developed in that the stiffening consists of plastic.
  • the stiffening is designed as a plate which is contoured correspondingly to the back of a wind surfer.
  • the invention can be further developed by providing at least one stiffening perpendicular to the plate.
  • the stiffening can simultaneously serve as the bottom of a backpack, in which case any additional stiffeners that are provided are designed in the shape of an bow.
  • the bracing acts like the frames of a ship's stump and increases the overall rigidity in the main direction of the prevailing forces.
  • a particularly preferred embodiment can be formed by the width of the stiffening being adjustable. This allows easy adaptation to different body shapes and sizes,
  • the adjustability can either be made possible by the fact that the stiffening has parts which are relatively displaceable relative to one another, or by insertable intermediate pieces being provided.
  • an additional crotch strap is provided which extends between the back part and the base plate of the hook.
  • the base plate In order to compensate for the abrupt incidence of gusts during windsurfing, it is particularly preferred in this embodiment to mount the base plate in a spring-biased manner in the direction of the crotch strap. As a result, when a gust occurs, the jerky movement of the sail is resiliently absorbed as if by a shock absorber.
  • the spring preload can either be done by means of elastic bands, flexible ropes or flexible belts, which are effective between the base plate of the hook and the crotch strap.
  • buoyancy bodies or the like in the back part, which at the same time serve the cushioning. This achieves the combination of the trapezoidal belt according to the invention with a life jacket.
  • the buoyancy bodies are preferably arranged on the side of the stiffening plate facing the user, it is possible to choose simple, straight forms of stiffeners, since the contour adapted to the body shape is formed by the buoyancy body.

  • FIG. 1 The embodiment of a trapezoidal belt 1 illustrated in FIG. 1 essentially consists of a back part 2, two shoulder belts 3, 4, a chest belt 5 and a crotch belt 6, the belts 3 to 6 forming a base plate 7 made of metal or the like are led, which carries a hook 8.
  • the hook 8 When using such a harness, the hook 8 is suspended in the boom or a rope (not shown) attached to it and the wind pressure of the windsurfer prevailing in the sail is held with the body weight.

  • the additional reinforcements here act like the frames of a boat hull.
  • Fig. 3- also shows an upholstery 19 in the area of the plate 14, which can also be designed as a floating body.
  • FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of a modified embodiment of the stiffening 13, which is designed here as a bracket 20.

  • the bracket 20 also has at its lateral ends eyelets or the like. 22, which are used to fasten the chest belt 5.
  • FIG. 6 shows, in a sectional view corresponding to FIG. 5, a further modification of the stiffening 13, which is formed here in the back area as a straight plate 23, again with a relatively displaceable part 24 for size adjustment.
  • size can be adjusted by inserting intermediate pieces (not shown).
  • the shape of the back part 2 which is adapted to the back of a user, is produced by a cushion 26 containing a floating body 25. This offers the advantage of combining it with a life jacket.
