Abstract
Se describe la preparación y el uso de un fragmento de ácido nucleico que confiere una respuesta de defensa mediada por un gen de resistencia Pi-ta en plantas contra la enfermedad causada por hongos patógenos. Genes que incorporan esos fragmentos de ácido nucleico ya sea solos o en combinación con un fragmento de ácido nucleico aislado AVR-Pita o subfragmentos funcionalmente equivalentes del mismo y secuencias para crear plantas transgénicas que pueden producir una respuesta de resitencia Pi-ta mediada por un gen contra una variedad de hongos patógenos, en particular el hongo del tizón del arroz.
