From the top of the case A there is an inward and upward curve, B, to the projecting portion 0, the outer ends of which are beveled to a point, and upon which are formed representations of various Eastern objects. From the upper parts of the columns D other palm-leaves, F, project inward, pass beneath the side bars of the door-frame, and extend beneath the dial-plate. The columns D are made with ornamental heads, upon which rests the top of the case. In the center of the top of the case is the figure of an Egyptian head, G, wearing an ornamental head-dress, from which the ends of an ornamental scarf hang upon the sides of the head, and extend down to the ornamented collar placed around the neck of the head. Upon each side of the head G is a palm-leaf, H. Upon the ends and base of the top are formed various ornamental angular projections and recesses.
