HENRY W. HIRSOHFELD, OF WEST MERIDEN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE MERIDEN BRITANNIA COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR SPOONS.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,591, dated October 17, 1876; application filed August 21, 1876.

To all whom it "my concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY W. HIRSGH- FELD, of West Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Spoon; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, lear, and exact description of the same, and hich said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent a front view.
This invention relates to a design for the handle of spoons and forks, and like articles of table service; and it consists in the peculiar configuration, as more fully hereinafter described.
In representing this design the handle is shown as applied to a spoon, but it will be understood that it is equally applicable to forks and like articles.
Starting from the bowl or body, the handle extends to a boss, a, and from there gradually expands in a curved line, terminating in a segmental form, with a tip in the center, giving to the end the appearance of a crown.
The upper end of the handle is ornamented to clearly define the segment of a circle, and give to that end the appearance of a crown, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
I claim- The herein-described design for spoon and fork handles, consisting in the outwardlycurved sides, terminating in a segment of circle form, with a central tip, the said segment of a circle being clearly defined in ornamentation, and representing a crown, all as shown in the accompanying illustration.
