DESIGN FOR A SPOON OR FORK HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,841, dated March 28, 1882.
Application filed February 13, 1882. Term of patent 3Q years.
To all whom tt may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK VVATER- HOUSE, of Wallingford, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have in' vented a new Design for Spoon or Fork Handies; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification and represents a front View.
This invention relates to a design for the handles of spoons, forks, and like articles of table service; and it consistsin the configuration and orn-.nnentation as shown in the accompanying illustration.
The sides of the handle are parallel from the bowl for about one-third the length of the handle, thence grade-all expanding to the end, where it terminates in a segment shape. At the point where the expansion begins there is on the face a rose ornament, a, with an ornamented transverse band, 1), below andcabove. Starting from the point a at one side, an ornamented hand, (1, runsdiagonally upward, terminating at a transverse ornamented band, 0. Above this last band is another transverse band, f, with ascallop ornament below it and asemicircular panel above,the face ofwhieh is ornamented by scroll-work. From this last ornament to the end the surface of the handle is plain, all as shown in the accompanying illustration.
I claim- The design for the handle of spoons and forks, consisting of the rose ornament a, transverse bands I) c, gradually expanding therefrom and terminating in a segment shape at the end, an ornamented band, (1, extending diagonally across the face of the handle, above the band 0, to a transverse ornamented band, 6, and the ornamented transverse band fand semicircular panel, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
