DESIGN FOR FENCES.

Specification forming part of Design No. 9,505, dated September 26, 1876; application filed. September 16, 1876.---[Term of Patent 7 years] To nil whom it may concern Be it known that I, ALEXANDER SMITH, of Monticello, county of Sullivan and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Design for Fence, of which the following is a specification:

Figure 1 is a side view of a portion of a fence illustrating my design. Fig. 2 is a top view of the same. Fig. 3 is a cross-section of the bottom rail.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

The design is fuliy represented in the accompanying drawing, to which reference is made.

A represents turned posts, with ornamental tops. B is the bottom rail; and O is the top rail. D are the wires or rods, which are passed entirely through the rails 0 B. Upon the upper end of the first and every fifth wire D is formed an ornamental or east head, E. The

two outer and the two inner wires D, between the ornamental heads E, are bent into U form, and their arms are inserted through the rails O B, and the said outer wires are made the longer, so as to form concentric loops )3 G between the ornamental heads E, as shown and described.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A design for a fence composed of the posts A, straight pickets D, having ornamental heads E, and the intermediate concentric bowed pickets F G, substantially as herein shown and described.
