www1-1 .WITMEESEE UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICEo ALONZO PARKER, OF GREENFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR HANDLES OF TABLE-KNIVES.
Specification forming part ofDesign No. 9,222, dated April 18, 1876; application filed February 28, 1876.
[Term of Patent 7 yeara] To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, ALONZO PARKER, ot the town ot' Greenfield, in the county of Franklin and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and original Design for Handles of Table-Knives, ot' which the following is a specification:
The nature ot' my design is fully represented in the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 represents a side view ot' the knife, A being the blade, and B being the handle. Fig. 2 represents an edge View of the knife, looking down on the back of the same. Fig. 3 represents a cross-section ofthe neck ot' the bolster atX X. Fig. 4 represents a crosssection of the handle at Y Y, the narrowest part. Fig. 5 represents a cross-section of the handle at W W, the widest part.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The shape, form, and essential features of the design and handle are shown by the crosssections in connection with Figs. l and 2.
From X X (the neck of the bolster) the handle slopes to d, from which point it decreases in size to Y Y, the narrowest part. The slopes ofthe handle from X X to Y Y are lnore readily seen in Fig. 2. The end ofthe handle C C C is made on the line otan are of a true circle, or as nearly as it can be conveniently h'nshed. From Y Yto O C the handle is of uniform thickness, as shown in Fig. 2. This handle may be made of any size to correspond with the size ofthe blade and suited to themarket, and the handle and blade are of one piece ot' steel, the Whole being polished.
I claim as my invention- A design for knife-haiulles, in which the prominent features are, that from the narrow part ofthe handle, Y Y, Fig. 1, the handle increases in Width to W W, Iand ends in an arc of a circle, the side slightly oval closswise, and ot' uniform thickness throughout its principal length, as shown in Fig. 2, the whole being substantially as described, and shown in the accompanying specification and drawings.
