DESlGN FOR FORK AND SPOON HANDLES.
Specification formingpart of Design No. 7.902, dated November 24,1874; application tiled Nwember 14, ISH. [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES OSBORNE, of North Attleborough, Bristol county, Massachusetts7 have invented a Design for Handles for Forks and Spoons, ot' which the following` is a specification:
I propose to distinguish it by the name Ital ian. The nature ot' the design is i'ully represented in the aceomlnlnying photographie illustrations, to which reference is made.
Ifigure 1 is a faee View ola spoon with a handle according to my design. 1i`ig.2 is a View of the reverse side.
The distinctive features are found in the t'orm ot' the decorative elevations and depressions.
0n the l'aee the linger-piece A ol the handle is slightly convex, and sinks, with a rounded edge, to a` tlat margin, VIl. At the junction ol' the linger-piece with the Stem is a beaded cross-band, l), growing;Y narrower toward a Small rosette, (l, in the center, beyond which, on the stem E, the sunk border is continued1 and the Space between becomes a narrow bead. Near the ljunction ot' the spoon is another cross-band, (l, with a rosette, F. Above the hand 1) is a elnster of foliage, II, composed of diverging curved stems intermingled with lobate leaves. A narrower Series of curved stems extends below or toward the spoon. 0n the haelt face the linger-piece on the reverse ol' A is concave. A portion alonagr the edge is raised in a narrow bead, B. The bead is bent to l'ollow the contour ot' the edge, past the bands l and Cr, dying away as it merges into the bod)Y of the Spoon. 0n the reverse ot' the, rosette C and adjacent ornaments is alsmall cluster o1' foliage, U. A head extends alonev thel center of the .stem and conneets the ornament U with aj leaf at the junction ot' the stem with the spoon.
