DESIGN FOR A FORK 0R SPOON-HANDLE GALLED IONIC."
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, GEORGE WILKINSON, of the city and county of Providence, and State of Rhode Island, have originated a. new Design for Articles of Silver, and other metals and plated were, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying specimens or drawings, making part of this specification; that is to say, for a design called the Ionic, for the handles of spoons, forks, and other table-Ware and implements, of which i I Figure 1 is a view of the front side of the said design, and
Figure 2 is a View of the back side of the same- Similar letters indicating like parts in both figures.
The said design consists of the general outline, shape, form, or contour of the handle, as represented, with ornamental configurations or embellishments of a. character suited thereto.
The said outline comprises a flat taperingstem or shaft, I, an oval shape, S, and a pointed paddle-blade shape, A. I
The ornamentation is that represented in the drawings, consisting of a double-headed edge terminating in a point, and enclosing a. figure, e, near the bowl F, and a rosette upon the oval, S, with ornament of Grecian honeysuckle extending each way therefrom, upon the bladeAand shaft I, for the front side; and upon the back side, fig. 2, a. single head, conforming to the outline, within the edge thereof, terminating with a sprig of honeysuckle, d, and with a simple figure, composed in part of sprigs of honeysuckle, upon the oval shape S.
Claim.
I claim the design for the handles of spoons, forks, 860., of'the general outline or contour, and with ornamental configurations, as herein set forth and shown.
