DESIGN FOR. A FORK OR SPOON-HANDLE CALLED DORIC.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, GEORGE WILKINSON, of the city and county of Providence, and State of Rhode Island, have originated a new Design for Articles of Silver and other metals and plated ware, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying specimens or drawings, making part of this specification; that is to say, for a design called the Doric for the handles of spoons, forks, and other table-ware and implements, of which Figure 1 of said drawings represents the front side of the said design.
The said design consists of the general outline, shape, form, or contour of the handle, as represented, with ornamental configurations of a character suited thereto.
The said outline comprises a rou'nded or cylindrical stem or shaft, B, having a collar, 12, near the bowl S, and expanding, by shoulders e e, into an oval shape, D, and this (oval) expanding by a. neck, a, into an oval paddle-blade shape, G.
The ornamentation represented in the drawing, consists of a plain bevelled edge extending around the blade G and oval, D, to the shoulders e 'e, with a rosette or flower in the oval, D, and with a simple knot or tie, c, near the shoulders e e, and a knot and sprig of Grecian honeysuckle extending from the oval upon the blade G.

I claim the desigrvfor the handles of spoons, forks, &c., as herein set forth and shown.
