The frame d iaformed with an inwardly disposed ledge 5 which constrtutee a rest for a gem 6 or other form of ornament, stone or the like. A bezel 7 projects outwardly from the frame 4 and engages the edges of the gem 6 and is adapted to be bent thereagainst. Notches 8 are formed at opposite points in the ledge 5 of the frame 4.
A metal ornament 9 is placed against the gem 6 and is formed with tongues 10 which project rearwardly andare bent inwardly as at 10' around the bottom of the gem 6, and rest in the notches 8 and bear upon the face 2'. When the ornament 9 has been applied to 'the gem 6 the latter is pressed into the 'frame 4 and engages the ledge or seat 5 and obtains a snug fit within thebezel or projecting part 7.
After the gem 6 with the attached ornament 9 has been fitted to the frame 4 the ornament 9 is further secured by soldering the tongues 10to the bezel 7 of the frame et;
While the invention is particularly designed for finger rings, it is to be understood that it may be readily adapted to metal personal wear and articles of every description provided with jeweled settings.

The combination with a body provided with a cut away portion, a frame mounted upon the body in line with the cut away portion thereof, said frame having notches opposite points, a gem seated within the frame, and an ornament applied to the face i? p portion cut away, of a frame secured to the body oposite the cut away portion and provided with notches, a gem seated within the frame, and an ornament on the gem inserted I into the said frame and provided with tongues which enge the notches of the frame. f
