T. KUNDTZ. SEWING'MACHIVNE CABINET.
(Application filed. Dec. 21, 1901.}
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THEODOR KUNDTZ, OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO.
DESIGN FOR A SEWING-MACHINE CABINET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,625, dated January 2 1902- Application filed December 21, 1901. Serial No. 86,865. Term'cf patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that LTHEODOR KUNDTZ, acitizen of the United States of America, residing at Lakewood, in the county of Ouyahoga and 5 State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Sewing-Machine Cabinets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
[ The drawing is a view in perspective of a sewing-machine cabinet, showing my design. The figure shows the forward side, the righthand side, and the top of the cabinet, but does not fully show the left-hand side, which is in r every respect the same in design as the righthand side and need not, therefore, be separately illustrated.
In my design for a sewing-machine cabinet each side edge of the top Cb of the cabinet curves inwardly, as at 5, at and along the central portion of the said edge. The top Ct at the junction of its rear edge 6 and each side edge has an outward curve or swell 7, joining the said side edge with the rear edge. The
2 5 top a swells or curves outwardly, as at 8, where the forward edge joins the side edges of the top.
Two vertically-arranged walls I) and b are arranged next below the top a and equidistant from opposite side edges, respectively, of the said top and a distance apart equal to somewhat more than one-half of the distance between the said edges. The forward edge of the top 01, adjacent to each wall I) has a forwardly-pointing projection 10 and curves in wardly, as shown, at each side of the said projection, and between the inward curves thus formed has an outward curve or swell 12. The top a adjacent to the forward edge and between the walls b and b has a front depending from the top and comprising an upper forwardly arched and curved portion 0, arranged next below and extending longitudinally of the top a between and connecting with the walls b. Each end of the said front is extended downwardly, as at d, along the adjacent wall I).
A door e is arranged next below the forwardly-curved upper central portion 0 of the 5, front and extends between and in close proximity to the depending end portions 01 and d of the said front. The door 6 curves or swells outwardly to conform to the curvature of the upper forwardly-arched member 0 of the front.
A beaded molding f appears upon the face of the door 8 and extends along the lower edge of the door, and a correspondingly-beaded molding g appears upon the face of the upper member 0 of the front and is arranged at and extends along the upper edge of the door between and connects with the walls 5 and b.
A molding it appears upon the face of each end portion 01 of the front and extends along the adjacent side edges of the door 6 from top to bottom of the door. Ornamental figures or scrolls 0 appear upon and centrally of the face of the door e.
Two drawers Z and Zare arranged below the top a and one above the other at each side of the front of the cabinet and at the outer side of the adjacent wall I), and the drawers at each side of the cabinet have the outer sur faces of their outer side walls curved to conform to the adjacent side edge of the top a. The face of the forward end wall of each drawer extends from the adjacent wall b forwardly and in the direction of the outer side wall of the drawer, and the said drawer is rounded, as at 18, where its face joins the outer surface of the said outer side wall, and the said side wall curves inwardly along the central portion, as at 15.
The leading and characteristic and essential features of my design comprise the inward curvature 5 of and extending along the central portion of the side edges of the top a and the correspondingly inward curvature 15 of the outer surfaces of the outer side walls of the drawers Z, the outward swell or curvature 8 of the top where the forward edge of 0 the top joins the side edges of the top, the outward swell 12 of the top along the central portion of the forward edge of the top, and the correspondingly outward swell of the door 6 and the upper port-ion c of the front of the 5 cabinet.
WVhat I claim is- The design for a sewing-machine cabinet substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I sign the foregoing 10o specification, in the presence of two witnesses, this 14th day of December, 1901, at Cleveland, Ohio.
THEODOR KUNDTZ.
Witnesses:
O. H. Donna, V. O. LYNCH.
